I was at that show and it is still the best concert I have seen. I’ve seen Primus more times than I remember and this was the best.

That wasn't exactly Primus, though the song was Primus' "Tommy the Cat." But I believe that was Larry Lalonde on Guitar and Brain on drums. Les has had so many side-projects over the years, including Oysterhead with Steward Copeland (The Police) on drums and Trey Anastasio on guitar (Phish.) One of the wildest projects was "Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains" with Les on bass, Buckethead on guitar, the late Bernie Worrell (Parlament) on keyboards and Brain on drums.

That was actually primus on the "Brown Album"/ "The antipop" era, the line up was: Les Claypool, Brain and ler

Chod, you need to check out these performances also. 1) "Tommy the Cat/The Awakening" live: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-klGpnqWNTlw.html and 2) this this jam session of Claypool, Buckethead, and Bernie Worrel (keys player for the Talking Heads) at Bonnaroo: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MEDB4xJsXVo.html

Check out "The Awakening" from Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel. It's a much better example of what Les can do.

Dear! It's just a mess! It's just awful! Almost the whole world knows this singer, and you still have absolutely no reaction on the channel to the best No. 1 vocalist in the world, Dimash Kudaibergen! This needs to be fixed urgently! I propose to make a reaction to a completely new vocal composition by Dimash Kudaibergen "Ave Maria" or his cover of the Japanese "Ikanaida"! Do it urgently

Jilly's On Smack live at Bonnaroo 2011 is excellent, Les plays with an electric upright bass, over 3M views. Primus is a band that always comes off like a perfect jam session, it never sounds over or under produced.

Primus is a great band to see. Les and the guys are quirky and extremely talented. Slap solos don’t do a lot for me (and I’m a bass player) since they’re often (not always) more visually and sonically impressive than the technique behind them. Basically (bassically:D) what I’m saying is that you can do some extremely difficult stuff on bass that would impress the heck out of other bass players, but make an audience yawn. Switch over to some slap and all of a sudden you’re hailed as a bass god. Another way to put it is that it can often be all flash and little substance. A few hours of practice and you’re hammering on and pulling off and coming up with 32nd note insanity that isn’t as hard to do as it is ear catching. The clue here is that Les can even chuck some nice vocals over the top, since his slap line is all muscle memory. I’m not trying to take anything away from Les. He’s a way better player than me, but I think if you asked him he’d admit that there’s a lot of showbiz in slap bass.

Speaking of great bass playing and excellent drumming, man you've got to check out Dirty Loops. Try "Turbo" or "Work Shit Out" or even their awesome version of "Thriller". You won't be disappointed.
