@@jahazielramirezbass no double thumb. When it sounds like he's playing multiple notes that's because he's hammering on notes with his left hand. I cannot recall a single time les has ever played double thumb. If he wants to get more notes he simply slaps faster.

That's it. Every bassist that's tried to cop Les' tone, is outta luck. He's playin' on a completely different rig, and he still sounds like himself. I think 80% of tone, comes from the hands of the player.

I've been saying this for like the last 15 years, from experience and observation, but everyone wants to attribute "tone" to whatever equipment you have. Simply is not the case. You can have every piece of equipment as Hendrix or whoever and that's not going to make you sound like them.

@@VegasCyclingFreak As a good modern example, take a look at Jimmy James (True Loves / Delvon Lemar's organ trio). That guy has one of the most simple setups. the lastest primus has its moments but nothing close to the early stuff. i guess aging cuts into the creative magic. very few bands can recapture their spark. but i don't expect them to. too many fans expect a band to still sound the same even though their lives are totally different. like Trent Rezner is not the same mad angry dude. but he somehow still makes good tunes....as well as bad ones. and i'm blabbing too much now JayElStuf futSlEyaJ

I know what you're saying, but also I can almost guarantee the band was and generally always is having more fun than the audience at EVERY show, and would be even if there wasn't any audience there at all. I think this is true for any good musician, the music is its own reward. There all the exact same rhythms for every song. Look at where he stays on the fret board. The only differences in the songs are the bass hooks, lyrics, guitar work, and tempo
@SeanSMST
@SeanSMST Год назад
@@brandonrichardson8681 Why does it matter he has similar rhythm and similar finger placement along the board? People aren't enamored with his skill because of the hooks, lyrics or tempo (though they do play a part), it's because he can play the bass guitar as pretty much as a solo instrument at his best, and a rhythm guitar or percussion at his worst. He is the only bassist in a major band I've seen transform the bass like he has. The majority of the time the bass is either non existent or barely heard in the mix, or is a great backer piece. It's not about the extent of the board or the elaborate rhythm he uses, it's the skill in which he plays with.
@davidsaliba9209

ALSO: the pickup right below the fretboard: he actually slaps the string onto the pickup for that percussion effect. It's brilliant.
