Wow thanks for posting this, the best tenor aria since di Stefano. I was actually listening to this live in my car on a Saturday night in England, on Radio 3 live matinees from the Met, parkef by the river in the rain, in Richmond on Thames down at the end of Old Palace Lane.
Not only do I love his voice in itself and how great he is at mastering it to sing the most beautiful songs, but as a French native speaker I just love his accent whenever he sings in French, you can barely hear it but it's here and it's truly beautiful and adds a little something to his performance in my ears 👌
Fantastic interpretation of this difficult aria. Just hating on this modern production. Much prefer tradition sets/staging/costumes. Imagine Kraus or Gedda coming out in a short sleeve shirt and rolled up pants? I guess with a sound like his, who cares about his shirt. 😆
This is his type of role,fantastic,not tosca,boheme or butterfly they will destroy his voice,ugo benelli the great tenor di grazie was once asked to sing pinkerton and he refused,saying it would ruin his voice,he was correct
