And it's a blessing to know that there are always interesting and dedicated young players emerging somewhere, discovering how enjoyable and expressive the guitar can be in skilled hands and played from the heart! Let's keep it going!
5:22 That Middle Finger 6:03 „Ok, now my real name is Saul“ „SUCK WHAT?“ „It’s Saul“ „You gotta talk into the hearing aid... AH DONT SHOUT AT ME“ 😂😂 Les Paul, an Ass and a Hell of a Legend!! Rest In Peace
I love that Slash never felt he had to mimic EVH in his time, since that was the thing to do in the ‘80s if you were in a rock or metal band. He’s probably my favorite post ‘70s rock guitarist. He doesn’t really over do-it.
No doubt. The "subtle" finger from LP by way of adjusting his glasses after that was epic. Slash can hang with anybody apparently, although BB made him nervous. haha
Some of the most enjoyable playing by Slash I've heard. Playing quietly actually amplifies the impact of his playing by way of increased subtly and dynamics.
Slash is sooo diverse.. At one time he will give you hard rock, but at the same time he can play the blues. He is everything i love about guitar players
See, Slash...he get’s it 😎 he plays to match his group and the song. He let’s Les shine and shines himself as well. And he plays what’s being played while he’s in it. Versatile of course, but that’s a big part of what being a true musician is all about. Well done fellas, and you can tell they really enjoyed that moment. 🤘👍
Sweet symphony of sound! Never realized Slash had it like that. You can tell they admire each other. Les is so happy. That 5:10-5:13 mark was righteous!
Truth be told its unlikely the old boy had heard much of slashes work, they came from very different generations. But Les Paul just loved music, and was always happy to let a young pup have some limelight, so lots of respect from the old boy, and obviously a guy like Slash would have revered Les Paul.
My mom sings and her husband plays blues guitar. They both had the opportunity to perform on stage with Les at his club a few years before his passing.
The best I ever heard Slash play. He's also clean and doesn't have 100w Marshall Jubilees set on eleven. With GNR he had to go with the flow, but we're hearing his real playing here. Good job Slash, and in front of a legend!!!
Before Les started losing dexterity and motion in his hands and fingers he was amazing to watch play. His style was incredible and you can say he was an early precursor to shredding.
I swear I hear these guys and I cant stop getting teary eye, Les Paul RIP , GNR always my Fav all time fav band but to see Slash with the Master him self and jam like that, SUBLIME
That was beautiful. I personally think it sounded great, opposing what some say below. It had a really nice jazz blues feel to it and they had a great connection
If I can be have as pleasant and fun Les is at that age I’ll be happy. What a fantastic brilliant man. Just a joy to be around. Not many people like around anymore.
Parker Jansen what the fuck is the point in you sounding like a smart-mouthed pre-teen? I said "post-seventies" meaning 80's, 90's, 2000's, and present. Post-seventies means anything that came AFTER the 70's. That includes eras past the 80's as well. So yes, that's the point in me saying "post-seventies". Get it?
The SRV of Rock. Stevie was fucking possesse3d though man. I love myself guns and hard players but the Hendrix covers by themselves propels him above almost anyone Ive ever witnessed in a lifetime.
Sm-o-o-o-o-th. I just clicked over from the video of Zakk & Les (he was out of his league). Slash is matching the style, timbre , rhythm and tone of both Les and the song. Just look at how engaged Les is throughout the tune.
Hi Chris, I live in SE Wisconsin and drive through Waukesha from time to time. Been a big Les fan since childhood as my parents had Les Paul & Mary Ford albums (I have them now). 'Had to go to the museum when it opened. Speaking of Waukesha, are you familiar with Wisconsin's other electric guitar virtuoso, Greg Koch? He is a phenomenal player of multiple genres. Must be something in the local water to produce such talent over multiple generations. If it wasn't for the eleventh hour, I wouldn't get anything done.
Saul Hudson (Slash) is one hell of a rocker, but its obvious this is where hes at home. blues is typicaly played 3 fingered whis is his signature style of pickin. real talent this huy has, matched by very few in the industry.
2 legends, one that endorsed and help build and design Gibson's first electric guitar, and one that (to me,, growing up) made the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar more iconic than Les Paul did lol
What a musical goldmine this collection is of all of Les`s pals joining him onstage. Not only is it loose and filled with funny banter, there are musical moments that are truly heaven on earth to me. Real magic happens at times that couldn't be captured in any other way but through raw unrehearsed performances such as these. Thanks for these uploads. Pure gold!
He's one of those guys that's just himself. He truly loves playing the guitar and will never stop. He's also quite humble and intelligent. - This coming from someone who isn't even a fan. I just have a respect for the guy.
i agree, a lot of people say slash is an overrated player because he doesn't sweep or shred like eric johnson for example (not bashing eric), but he plays with such feeling and he plays how he feels and his sound is recognisable the first note he plays. i've turned on the radio before and snakepit was playing, and although i didn't recognise the song i knew straight away it was slash.
I've been on a few forums or vidoes where Slash gets panned a lot. Seems like its the cool thing to do, but having grown up with GNR and seeing him play, we are lucky to have him in our generation. He's one of the best to hit the seen post british invasion for sure.
Never been a huge Slash fan but I will say, he can play the fuck outta some blues. Damn!..........which I guess that should have been obvious to me. I have heard plenty of Guns and velvet
what a guitarist les was! never mind his innovations for a second but just his knowloedge on the guitar and the low impedence pickups he used and just his sound note selection... amazing, would be no slash eddie van halen , jimmy page etc without him
Can only hope anyone who has ever owned an electric guitar, especially a Les Paul, can truly respect this genius. I swear to God, I had a Les Paul that was underwater due to a flood. Once I dried it out, it was as good as new.
