I had La Fille on VHS in the 1980s when I was a kid, with Lesley as Lise. Whenever I was sick and staying at home, I would cozy up in a blanket and watch it with my mum. It was my absolute favourite!

I think I was about 15. I went to see Lesley Collier in La Fille taking with me a small posy of flowers that ended up rather wilted. I took them to her at the stage door and she said how lovely they were - the best she'd had. A beautiful ballerina and a complete lady. Thank you , Lesley for so many wonderful performances and what a legacy she's handing over.

Leslley and Darcey together! What a real treat! Thank goodness they pass on the talent of the past to keep it for the present day and future That's so important. Dear old Sir Fred would be so proud.

Loved seeing this. Recordings of Collier dancing Lise show just how marvelous and energetic she was in that role. Perfect.

She is the sweetest lady. I saw her and Nureyev in Fille in NYC. Near the end, the famous “bum lift” went awry and down she came from way over his head. Thankfully, he managed to grab her before she hit the ground, but it was an obvious gaffe and you could tell from the look on his face that he blamed himself and was miserably contrite and embarrassed. Still during the curtain calls, He looked at her in wordless apology. He had barely saved her from a serious fall. So when the flowers came for her as he sent her forward for her curtsy, she went and got a little bouquet and shyly gave it to him. So He took her face into his hands and kissed her ever so gently and chastely. It was one of the most touching things I ever saw on the stage, and I will never forget it

I remember Lesley Collier very well indeed, and I'm sure she danced Lise, with my late father David Blair, whom Sir Fred created Colas for. It's wonderful to see she's passing on to Osipova and McRae, this technically demanding, delightful ballet on to new excellent dancers, and to a new generation of ballet lovers. That is a challenge, so surpass Nadia Narina, and David Blair, that you can all see the original divine cast on RU-vid. Blessings to you Lesley, and thank you, you're doing a fantastic job to stick to Sir Fred's choreography, and masterpiece, of a magical, very English style of ballet. x

Is this (your father) David Blair of Mercutio from Romeo & Juliet, the 1960's film? I am quickly using my partner's account here. I'm sorry if this is not the place, but that Mercutio will somehow always be the Mercutio for me. Your father was an amazing artist, I forgot this was a ballet with no words. How he joked and was doomed and Mercutio's final dance! The bitter smile in every gesture, such a rich performance you don't see in whatever genre. If I see that ballet film again it will be to keep watching your father's Mercutio.

L Collier, The first ballerina I ever saw , exquisite as Lisa in LFG, If you can locate it read Clement Crisp (dance critic of the Financial Times) review of her in LFG . I am so glad that the RB use her to pass on her expertise to so many dancers.

All that was missing was the tea and crumpets... and the damned UK flag as a backdrop. Why didn't they just sing, "God Save The Queen"?
