Milton Moore AGAIN MILTON, BILL WITHERS AND NWA AND SEVERAL SOUL GROUPS ARE SOMEHOW IN THE RRHOF. It’s the MUSIC HALL OF FAME OBVIOUSLY. Bill Withers had 2 hit records and he is in. The Rappers will soon follow sadly.
I was privileged to haveinterviewd Ms. Gore while a DJ at WXNJ FM, Avalon, New Jersey in 1992. A class act and welcoming spirit. Rest In Peace, and I am sorry to learn you are gone so soon.
Digi Rob boy you listen to it that many times it eventually wore out the threads on the record so the needle couldnt follow anymore in the groove cuz it be no grooves life. That's a devoted listener are you are
Lovely lady, and kind. A really nice voice for easy listening. Miss her. She could have gone on for many more years entertaining us all. Miss her voice now. May she sing in paradise w/ the angels.......
not really.. Miss gore sang songs that spoke to a lot of girls of that era.. Stolen boyfriends, Cheating boyfriends, hometown guys etc... where's the drama in that? The Shangri las were more melodramatic than Miss Gore ever could be !
RIP Leslie Gore. So glad I had the pleasure to see you perform in person. You will be missed. Thank you for bringing such great songs for all to listen and grow up on
I also loved Lesley and Shelly but for different reasons. Although Shelly released recordings as well, Shelly did not have the vocal chops that Lesley had.
Saw Lesley Gore (2) times at the Detroit Fox Theater and she sang her songs there as good as this recording! Excellent singer with a strong voice! Tony Trotta
Just listening to some oldies and to songs of Lesley Gore . She had great talent good song lyrics and her voice exceptional. Hard to.believe she's gone as so many other talented musicians that I grew up with
Milton Moore , And BILL WITHERS AND NWA ARE ROCK N ROLLERS ? GIVE ME A BREAK BUDDY, lot of soul groups in there as well and I do luv soul. 3 dog night, grass roots all belong in there !
Lesley Gore should have been inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame YEARS ago. I, and thousands of other guys [girls too] were in love with her back then. So fine looking, great voice, and great songs. What gives ?
I love Lesley! She was a guest on the program Gay USA a while ago. I think she is still a beauty and has a quiet grace and dignity. A lot of Pop stars today could learn from her.
I must say, respectfully, to repeat, the prior note from FumariVl, we both have seen the loss of LG. Her music, talents are noticed here, sooo much. We again, thank you so much for your notes.
R I P Lesley. NEW YORK (AP) - Singer-songwriter Lesley Gore, who topped the charts in 1963 at age 16 with her epic song of teenage angst, "It's My Party," and followed it up with the hits "Judy's Turn to Cry," and the feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me," died Monday. She was 68. Gore died of lung cancer at New York University Langone Medical Center in Manhattan, according to her partner of 33 years, Lois Sasson.
...Ditto on FumarVI 's comment.. if I had a dollar for every time i've listenend to a LG song, I could take New Jersery out for supper..maybe a stretch, mabe not. Anyway , singers like Ms Gore are far and in between...believe it or not...those of use born in the 1950's, do believe, that singers like Ms. Gore sang their hearts out 'cause of the life matters they saw. And us fans saw too. Having said that, please remember Ms Gore, as a talented singer and hearthrob she was. GPM...thank you and just sayin..
there's an internet site which features tapes of old radio programs. I came across an aircheck of WBZ in Boston from November 3, l963, on which this song was in the top 30. just 3 weeks later was the JFK assassination, followed by Beatlemania, and then all these great female music acts began to go away. what a shame.
