These were definitely the most interesting Matchbox cars. They came out before me and I've been having a lot of fun recently adding many of these to my collection.
the number 30 8 wheel crane is a cool one...lots of variations...red hook...the underside some had no brace at the rear...also came is a turquoise color only found in the gift sets
Right up my street. Bit of a collection myself (check my feed). I have all those models with the exception of some of the trailers for the tractors. I have the blue one but it’s missing the stake ends. My Mercedes is the blue version - still looking for the green one. Great set you have there. Greetings from the U.K.
good call on the caravan...it came in yellow...also had knobbly wheels and then fine tread wheels...the studebaker sliding roof can be found unpainted...or painted a dark color to match the car
the combine has some early hard to find variations...if you look on the base you can see a hole where the writing is telling you the models info...the earliest ones had no hole...the hole is there as a place to locate a rod they used to stick it on for painting...also came with an open step ladder
very clean collection except a for a couple...the snow plough with the grey wheels is the most desirable one...funny the grey wheels came at the end of that models run...when most grey wheel model had switched to black...i bet it was because they had extra grey wheels that would fit on the snow plough
Luckily I kept all mine. MOst are in pretty fine condition as I took care of them. The deal was with my Mom was I'd buy one and she's buy one. Sometimes I could talk her into her buying two. Glad I kept all mine. Loved "Husky" ones too...Interestingly, the "TOMI" ones that came around in the late 70's were quite nice including the Corgi Juniors.....
the tractors have a bunch of variations...the yellow/blue was first...came with a long exhaust stack...also came with large rear hubs found on the john deer tractor...the all blue was usually found on the king size tractor trailer ...there were three tractors on the bed
I've been enjoying your videos for some time. I notice you comment on condition, but you don't seem to bring up if the item has been repainted? Some are pefect condition, but a lot have been repainted. I notice this especially with the view of the revits showing traces of paint.
There are less than a handful of repaints - and they are always called out. Mattel factory spun posts often show traces of the respective casting paint.
