@@jjmanzano9 exactly! Not at that time he wasn't and he's the first to admit it. Nice to see a success story from him because for a while there he was such a mess and most thought he'd be dead by 30!
This was RDJ in real life. I'm from his generation and remember it. Everyone was so, so happy when he finally put the partying (that is what people of my generation call excessive drinking and drugs) behind him because he was a favorite actor of our generation even despite his addictions. We were all pulling for him.
@@vaskylark Me I am an 80s kid too, I remember this movie so well and it mirrored his battle with addiction and substance abuse, we were scared that one day RDJ was going to over dose, am glad he is doing great now.
I just turned 50, I saw this in the theater when was 17. Devastating is an understatement to describe this scene...caught me completely off guard. Great movie.
My best friend died a week ago, overdosed on the same bull shit, with his stimulus Corona virus check. We had this fight almost a year ago, and I really wanted to tell him how much his bad habits are effecting even my life but I couldn't go near him without him always being high on something. I was sick of his bad habits so I told him to stay away for good. He wanted to apologize to me but I couldn't tell if he was just emotional high or just really wanted to tell me it. I lost my good friend, my neighbor, my brother, he wasn't a bad person he just did bad things. He left his daughter behind, please, if you have a friend or family member whose troubled, reach out to them, cause you never know when it'll be too late. This is my 2nd friend who tried to reach out to me I ignored before they died. *DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO YOU.* Good health and stay safe, god bless. 😔🙏
Spider Man I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I have a list of couple of friends in the past six months also for different addictions. It is a tough line to walk being a loved one of somebody and watching them destroy their lives and not letting it bring you down. I appreciate your message and want to second the motion to all: if you love somebody please reach out to them before it’s too late.
❤️❤️❤️my heart goes out to you and him and everyone affected by this loss I’m so sorry ❤️ I’m a recovering addict And I have a beautiful daughter who is turning 4 in May I just can’t imagine the pain I put my family through So I understand how rough it is because my mom and dad both went through a lot being my support system and they express how hurtful it is enduring my addiction behavior But they are there when I want to admit myself into rehab I’m just going through so much craziness but I have a daughter who depends on me and I thank god that she is being protected by her beautiful Dad and his mom - as well as my side of the family Hell My dad named his company after her She’s well taken care of But I want to live to see my daughters first everything So god bless you my dear I’m sorry you went through that Thank you for your message
So sorry for your loss of your best friend .....i'm doing my best I can to keep my friend in health since last 5 years ago he was in drugs try to kill himself because his girlfriend dump him
Very sad movie ..Sadly I've seen many go that sane road and never come back ...Thank God Robert was able to turn his life around and he didn't end like the character he played in the movie did
@@mulliganstew72 But in the book he’s a minor character in actual presence even though there’s a lot of talk about things going on with him but you only see him maybe two or three times in the book and he doesn’t die. It’s a completely different story in the movie.
After he collapsed on the sidewalk, Julian's character should have been immediately taken to the emergency room for medical attention. Though it may have still been too late, there might have been a chance that he would make it. Though his friends loved him it was a bad idea to embark on a lonely and long road trip once it was obvious he was not well.
He died of heart failure well before they even knew he was gone. CPR wouldn’t have helped. Besides, the damage to the heart muscle was most likely beyond help by this point.
Just saw this tnight on Audiance Chanel , camera angles are amazing . Heart breaking story , Jamie Gertz blew me away , she is so talented . This roll was made for her !
Not only were movies made even then but that movies like this were made as a wake up call for family and friends alike that knew of drug addiction of a family member or good friend to try to save those who were addicted to drugs!❤ sadly some kept going and died others were saved and have been sober for some time…..moral of the story is if you want to make a change and know you are in trouble then make that change not only for yourself but for your family and friends that love you and care for you as well…..I am a survivor of such a thing…..if one can do it then so can you!
when i see the millions of facebook, youtube, tiktok etc users making millions of dollars off making fun and joking about drug addiction because people think its funny and have to feed their own addiction to being scammed i think of this scene as well as many others.
I love Robert Downey Jr and Andrew McCarthy and Jami Gertz but this movie is not really my cup of coffee. Jami Gertz is so cute especially when she cries and we finally saw her cry at the end of this movie when Robert Downey Jr's character died at the end. Jami Gertz is so talent and so beautiful.
