what do you mean by "bounce"? the resolution is 2mm. you can measure less with resolution of 2mm.

@@robojax basically in your video you have a static target which is the arduino box. And you measurements bounce from 96 to 94 to 98 without the target to move

it can't read the data. try I2C scanner, disconenc tthe LCD and see if you can read the I2C address which confirms the the wiring is OK and the module is functioning.
