This has been very handy, I've been playing guitar for over a decade and I'm reasonably competent (for an amateur) but I've got a lot of bad habits I didn't know how to fix!
Thank you so much for this channel. It really helps me a lot. God bless you. Im a Filipino musician. Im so happy to subscribed in this kind of channel that helps musicians a lot.
Hi, Great exercise. I'm a beginning guitar student. Does anyone know if these classical oriented exercises would be beneficial for other genres like jazz, blues or rock? Thank you for any input.
Thanks 😁 I must buy your book. I just bought my ameb grade 3 and it's a lot more technical. These exercises have been very useful am just about to check out the website. Thanks!
+sobefobik I usually have my students wait a year before growing nails. Once their hand positions look correct then we move on to nails so the resistance of the nails doesn't not alter their hand positions.
My guitar has a 2'' at the nut so I'm figuring it must even be more difficult to not get the muted string sometimes. Compromise, compromise.....Back of my mind I think I want the standard width nut, Gonna have to get that C10 Cordoba....
+Gavin S Because of my busy schedule I've been offering video exchange lessons, that's where you send me a video and I critique it and make a video response back either publicly or privately.
Thank you for a great lesson. However, my left hand, the middle finger and my rign finger cannot close like your. Is it ok to continuo practice in that position? as you play vertical practice, does your thumb also move when you moving down too? I get the problem that my thumb just stay in one place.
Just remember to check your guitar positions and hand positions and also foot-stool height. Most of the time a small compromise in a few different places can really add up. Also, curvature in the fingers rather than the wrist is key.
This is Classical Guitar I appreciate your reply sir, however, I hold the guitar by replacing it upon my right thigh -without a stool- but the main problem is my fourth finger.. I do stretches each time before practicing but nothing changes. What am I doing wrong?
Why do you not use on your right hand, your thumb on the correct strings and your fingers that are assigned to 1, 2 and 3 strings. This is how I practice
Thanks for your reply, but you seem to be doing the travis picking way with two finger the classical way is using your assigned fingers thumb 6, 5, 4, and 1 for ring finger, 2 for middle finger and 3 for pointing finger. your way is good for speed, as I am not that good yet.
