Just as in 1930's Germany, the American church has refused to be involved in politics. Half of Christians aren't registered to vote! The church in 1930's Germany presided over the murder of 6 million Jews. Because they did not stand up! They didn't realize what would happen, but the American church KNOWS what will happen because we saw what happened in Germany. The American church will face judgment for squandering Stewardship of our freedoms and our vote.
Very disheartening, I see so many similarities! It challenges me as a member of the Body of Christ to be more pro-active!! Put on the Armor Of God & Be Brave for the cause of Christ & spread The Good News to all people whom He has created. Stay prayerfully & vocally strong for Gods Chosen People & Israel!! God bless Israel & The Jewish People everywhere!!❤️🙏🏼✝️
Thank you for having this woman on. I loved the details she added about Corrie, and how she was faithful in the ordinary which lead to the opportunity to be faithful in the extraordinary. And even her story about talking to the director of J.C. Superstar and how she could have a positive influence on his life, too. Nothing done for the Lord and for His glory is ever wasted!❤
I read ‘The Hiding Place’ as a new Christian in my early twenties. It was mesmerizing to me. Then when I married, my mother-in-law who was a Dutch warbride gave me the book again. It was a blessing. A few years ago,my daughter and I visited the Netherlands and went to the home of Corrie in Haarlem. What a treasured memory! 🇨🇦
I read every book of hers I could get my hands on when I was in my early twenties. Through her books, she was one of my mentors in learning how to trust God.
I read The Hiding Place in the 1980s as a teen. Loved it and was disturbed by it but great respect for her story and suffering for others and our Lord. God bless her memory. Thank you for keeping her story and sacrifice alive
I have never known of Nan Gurley but she is fantastic! What a great speaker and so interesting. I am going to be reading “The Hiding Place” soon because of this interview. “If the angels clap and people laugh…” - a powerful image.
When I was growing up, we didn’t have as many books as there are nowadays for younger people, but The Hiding Place was one of my go-to reads. It shaped my thinking for all my life (including my horror at the compliance at the time of covid, and the speed with which neighbour turned against neighbour 😣
I too had the great opportunity to sit and listen to her and hear her story that touched my heart . As a thirteen year on my way to school a older Jewish couple call over to me they showed me their tattoo on their arms and they told me to never to for get this . One Day Father will make clear why I had this occurrence .
I actually met Corrie in Anaheim, California about the time she retired in Orange. She was tirelessly gracious in the love of God for everyone ❤️! I, too, must ask Lord Jesus, "Why, this privilege?"
Thank You Both....for being REAL and down to earth--yet, committed to Excellence as you speak and demonstrate the Gospel as examples for the rest of us.
My parents were in the WWII horrific war and told me of their experiences but nothing like this! Thank you for sharing this for the generations to come. My parents spoke fondly of the Jewish family that helped them when they first arrived in Canada 🇨🇦 I wasn’t born yet but listened to all my mother spoke of their hardships and experiences both during the war and after.
What an extraordinary woman and inspiration. I have to step up my life and reach higher more courageous. So wish I could be there to see her performance at WOC. Thank you Pastor for bringing the arts and education into the church. I've worked in Hollywood for 15 years and so wish I had been more bold in my faith.
I have a son who is a aspiring actor! He’s not walking his faith. I would love to see him have the courage to stand up for how he was raised. I see such pressure to not be biblical in the theater,it’s so so sad. Thank you for bringing this message today.
I am one who believes Matt 24:9-10 is for the church today. I was blessed by Mrs Gurleys words and knowledge of this story! Pastor Allen, thank you for giving us guests who educate, inform and encourage us. It is so important in the world we live in today. Gby both!
I have never known of Nan Gurley, but she is very intelligent and thanks her for this true story, The Hiding Place film, I can’t wait to watch at World Outreach Church.
As Nan Gurley was speaking about Corrie Ten Boone, I was remembering reading The Hiding Place many years ago and another book In My Father’s House. Nan spoke about the years of quiet obedience and my thoughts went to Daniel (I studied him this past summer) and how he determined early on to be obedient and then Nan brought up Daniel. I also am challenged to be obedient and humble. Thank you for this interview, what a blessing!
Not much moves me to tears any longer but this wet my eyes again in the love and boldness of His Spirit moving within my woodeness. We as Christians carry that power of electricity of forgiveness and acceptance no matter how jolted into normalness it seems. Tears from being moved show we haven’t yet been cast to stone but have a heart of flesh upon which our Lord writes.
It was an excellent interview! I've read Corrie Ten Boom's "The Hiding Place." An excellent book on both faith and courage amongst such terrible evil. Thank you so much, Pastor Jackson ✝️🙏 ❤️
I just “happened” upon this channel and this beautiful testimony… so much to say about it, but I’ll keep it brief… simple yet profound. May God help us all (believers) to bloom where we are planted by loving and serving HIM! 🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱
Oh my. Thank you for this interview. My mom took me to a church program. I must have been pre-teen, 11 or 12 when I saw Richard Wurmbrand years and years ago. I listened with half an ear. Afterwards, I read 'tortured for Christ'. I cried for weeks. I knew I was not nor would ever be as strong as he, never as good as Corrie. I believe we are living in the days of Noah. I am actively looking for the rapture and praying for the Lord to strengthen me and all Christ followers as we have some rocky days ahead. Keep looking up! ❤ maranatha ❤
What a wonderful and convicting interview! I think the Church has been treading in deep, dark, and unknown waters for a long time. Most including myself are not prepared for the horrors that Corrie went through. I pray that I would remain strong in the Lord if ever put to that type of test.
What a beautiful session!! I loved learning more about the Ten Booms & it challenges me personally to be more bold in God & my gifts, whatever God has given me. To speak out louder in today’s chaotic & crazy demonic cultural battle for not just our youth but everyone, about Our Awesome God! And the eminent danger of where America is now compared to what was going on with The Jewish People prior to The Holocaust!! We better wake up, America!! So enjoyed Pastor & Ms. Nan Gurley! Such great information!! Praise God!❤️🙏🏼✝️
Thank you for this interview. I'm very familiar with both Corrie's story and Lydia's. I too pray to be found faithful. Corrie reminded us that grace is given when needed and not to expect it to be findable in our characters. I saw the movie adaptation of the stage production. I'm from Houston. Love AD players
This reminded me of when I met Richard Wurmbrand shortly after his release from Romanian communist prisons, after man years of torture and suffering. When I shook his hand and I looked into his eyes, there was such a mixture of love and suffering, hard to describe, but like seeing the eyes of Jesus. Thanks so much for sharing about Corrie. So challenging to us in these times. Would we stand? I pray it for myself that I would🙏
I read “The Hiding Place,” in my late teens & was deeply moved as well. I memorized several passages that I’d read and re-read. I had no idea that she was in the U.S. until many years after she had passed away. I hope I can meet her in heaven❤️
So very grateful I was able to listen to this podcast. What a beautiful gift in the middle of the night. As always you and your church as well as the daily online messages are such a gift. Prayers for the continued work you and your team does as it grows our faith. Blessings 🕊️✝️
This was a beautiful interview and I was so happy when Lydia Prince was brought up. Appointment in Jerusalem is in my top 5 favorite books of my life and I read it every January to start my new year. Lydia is so precious to me and I wish I could have known her. I don’t know Corrie’s story as well as Lydia’s but these are two wonderful women to aspire to be.
Wow! I was truly moved and challenged by this episode. I have loved Corrie ten Boom's story ever since I read the Hiding Place in middle school. At the time, I was amazed that a Christian story was one of the historical narratives of WWII, and assigned as part of Public School curriculum. Very much as Nan Gurley, I have been living a comfortable American lifestyle for most of my life. As I read the Hiding Place, I imagined myself as Corrie, and COULD NOT imagine doing what she did. I began praying then that if I ever faced a similar situation I would NOT wimp out, but face it as she did. Thank you, Nan Gurley, for using your gifts, and for your preparation. You told stories that I didn't know. I wonder if either of you have ever watched the Chosen? The actor who plays Jesus, Jonathan Roumie, is a very faithful Catholic and I believe both of you would be edified by his story of being pulled out of difficult circumstances. BTW I am a Baptist.
Thank you for a wonderful inspirational interview. I also read Corrie TenBoom's book years ago and she has been an amazing role model to me. God bless.
I had never heard that Corrie & Lydia Prince were friends! Derek Prince is one of my favorite bible teachers. I wish someone would make a movie of his life. In his documentary interview he spoke so sweetly of Lydia. This was a great podcast. I'm going to forward it.
Tante means Aunt. It’s like she was inviting you to be part of her family. Very nice! My Polish grandmother’s were often telling me to call them Aunt (sounds like Ponnie)so in so. Very endearing!
Thank you for this interview! It refreshed my soul! I will share with a young lady that likes acting. But, her faith and courage applies to all believers !
Corrie ten Boom has been one of my biggest Christian heroes for many years. I, too, have pondered whether I'd be as strong in the face of adversity as she and her family were. Her books should be read by every believer, and I would encourage Christian parents to read The Hiding Place, and In My Father's House, aloud to their young children -- and again when the children are a little older.
It was really interesting to hear her talking about Jesus Christ Superstar -- God used the movie to save me! It was not by any merit of the movie, though. I would NOT recommend the movie to anyone. I was just turned seventeen, grew up in a family that didn't attend church. When I was fourteen I asked my mother for a Bible, because I wanted to read it and we didn't even have one in the house. I had read through almost all of the Bible before seeing that movie. As I watched it, I was dismayed at how it changed Jesus Christ from the Bible account, and at the end, where He was left dead -- I wasn't a believer yet, but I *knew* that was wrong. That was *not* the end of the story! I was in tears as we left the drive-in theater where we'd watched it (to the dismay of my mother, who had no idea what I'd been thinking). At that moment, God spoke to me, saying, "Yes, the Bible is true. Yes, God is real. And you are the one who should have been on that cross, for your sins -- Jesus took your place. Now He has to be the Lord of your life forever." I heard His voice as clearly as if the person sitting next to me had been speaking. That was just over fifty years ago, and I believe in Him even more strongly now, after fifty years of living with Him, and learning more about Him. But there's no credit to that very bad movie -- it was just the tool that God used to reach my heart.
I have a couple of books of hers in my bedroom:) And she is truly incredibly incredibly humble:) And she is also incredibly incredibly amazing:)@Allen Jackson Ministries
There is always a wonderful take-away with your interviews, Pastor Allen! This is, I believe the most powerful one. Your actress guest nailed it, speaking clearly about "the fear of man"!! It has been an ongoing issue with me, to share the gospel with my family and others. But, in the name of Jesus, tonight I am drawing a line in the sand. His Blessings on you and this amazing steadfast ministry.
I read The Hiding Place during the wee hours of the morning at the fireplace hearth with the snow blowing outside in Colorado 25 years ago. I asked if I could ever be brave enough or crusty enough to do what Corrie did. I still check my faith but the only true test is in a situation such as that. Yes, I know that we are heading straight for a repeat of the horrific reign by the Nazis who now know to label others to deflect the truth. Daily communication with Jesus is our only hope. I'd love to see this play but too far away. I'm sure Nan Gurly will do a wonderful performance with love and passion.
I am reading a novel series called The Zion Covenant by Bodie Thoene. This series will wake you up to the viciousness and deceitfulness of Hitler and his followers. Reading it has opened my eyes as history unfolded in Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia. What I have read that happened in the 1930s is happening right now in my country, the USA. I encourage you to find this series in your library. The series was written years ago. These books will open your eyes to the evil we face right now. Our foe is using the same tried and true tactics that the world was deceived by and or ignored.
Thank you Pastor Allan...I'm praying that I can be strong for the Lord. I think persecution is coming to America. Our country is changing rapidly. I'm seeing things I never thought we would Ever See in this country. Thankfully our Lord and Savior will get us through until He brings us home. May God Bless you. I loved this video.
