The mono/stereo thing it's actually really helpful. It's not just making your sound wider or not, but it's about putting your sound in the right place and making space for the rest of the sounds. We need more things about that "technical" stuff. We can't learn creativity. That's something that depends on each one... But we can learn these knowledges so we can improve our music.

@@rez9386 sound selection is taking too long for me. Also it sounds good, then other tracks, then sounds weak. Probably I should have more sparse instrumentation...
@theAcelebrity
@theAcelebrity 4 года назад
drrodopszin You need a good speaker that sounds accurate enough. And the sound should already be good before you stack up a lot of plug-ins. Like Kshmr's rough track. Then everything becomes much easier.

Here's a hint: if you're stuck using the Intro version of Live, and don't have enough available layers to use 3 for one snare, try making your drums in a separate file, then exporting them and working with them as one audio file. ;-) I was freaking out after I saw this video until I realized I could do that!

In addition to putting the same snare in different slots and playing with pans and EQ, it helps to change the pitch in cents of each one slightly. One step closer to a real drummer and a real snare drum. Great tips 🎶🔥

4:31 any method of doing the same for a sound in FL Studio? The width-knob for the channels can only merge the two signals instead of focusing on just left/right as seen here. Anyone got any ideas?
@russelljalal6571
@russelljalal6571 6 лет назад
Bring up Fruity Stereo Shaper and then put either both red faders(right channel) or yellow faders to Value: 1 this will do the same thing that KSHMR is doing in ableton take the either right or left signal and playing it in both the speakers

Can someone explain his tip regarding putting the utility on left or right instead of mono? Wouldn't doing this just hard pan it left or right?
@SsgtHolland
@SsgtHolland 7 лет назад
When your sample is stereo, it is two channels, L and R. When you use Utility in L or R mode, it takes only the left or right channel, but plays it on both channels, eg both speakers. That prevents loss of information due to phase cancellation when summing both (perhaps slightly different) channels to 1 and then sending them to both speakers. Your basically using two copies of either left or right channel, so they are identical. Helped?
@davidpicarazzi
@davidpicarazzi 7 лет назад
SsgtHolland got it. So you're simply just taking for example, the left signal and it plays through both speakers. This helps with phase cancelation?
@SsgtHolland
@SsgtHolland 7 лет назад
Yes, but mostly with sampled, organic drums. They tend to have slight differences in phase because of the recording proces. Drumsamples that contain stereo effects or reverbs can also develop phase differences between channels.
@russelljalal6571
