Due to co-vid restrictions in November 2020, many throughout the world, were forced to cancel their local Remembrance services and parades to remember those from their community who made the ultimate sacrifice during times of conflict.
To simply not have any form of Remembrance ceremony was not an option, therefore we decided to create a short Remembrance film that could be projected onto one of the local iconic buildings in the Aberdeenshire town of Huntly, Scotland. The file was played on a 10-minute loop during a two hour window on Sunday 8th November 2020 and those that were able to come along during that window, could do so following social distancing rules and guidelines.
The film was created from photographs and footage from the First World War and follows the journey of those 700 men from the Huntly area as they fought for King and Country during the Great War of 1914-1918.
Many of these men were recruited to the Gordon Highlanders, Huntly being the historic home of the regiment. Of those, 140 former pupils and four teachers of the Gordons School made the ultimate sacrifice as a result of World War 1.
To all those many men and women who perished or were gravely injured in all the world's conflicts - We shall never forget.
