Lestat De Lioncourt is one the biggest names in all of vampire lore, probably only second to Dracula in terms of best known vampires. He is the centre point for the Vampire chronicles novels in addition to being one of the most powerful vampires to ever exist. However, Lestat never asked, nor wanted the dark gift. It was forced upon him and whats worse is that his maker left him with little to no knowledge on the makings of the vampire race. Lestat was never actually shown how to be a vampire. The individual in question was Magnus, a 300 year old vampire who chose lestat as his successor after a selection process that consisted of dozens of candidates and then threw himself into a fire. This is the story of Magnus, Lestats creator.

Lestat's backstory of how he became a vampire always gives me chills, imagine you are just living your life happy as can be and then out of the blue your kidnapped by a vampire, beaten, fed on, and held for days on end not knowing if you'll die or live to tell the tale but you get a even worse fate: you become a vampire against your will and learn almost nothing and left to fend for yourself like a parent abandoning a child, chills man 😭

Lestat mentions a few times vampires lashing out in their sleep and killing hapless mortals in an effort to subconsciously protect themselves, I’m pretty sure it was said in the later books that Benedict not only knew Magnus, but also liked him and enjoyed his company to a certain extent. When I’m pretty sure Benedict realized what was going on and was just so kind that he allowed it to happen. That or I’m misremembering, but I’m almost certain Benedict’s kindness and Rosh’ vanity are the reasons they didn’t kill or hunt down Magnus afterward lol

I have been rereading The Vampire Lestat, and have been wondering the same thing. According to the books, the person has to be almost drained of blood, and then given the magical vampire blood. Sometimes this process has to be done more than once, as was the case with Marius and the "God of the Grove". It's almost like a dialysis process. They never explained how Magnus drained himself before taking the captive vampires blood.

Characters in other shows can relate to Lestate. The Originals from Vampire Dairies spin-off, The Originals. They didn't know the full scope of their powers. Proven in s3. And there's Trubel and 4 wesen kids from Grimm; all whom didn't know *what* they were and cultures to each of their kind. I think what Magnus did to Lestate was worse. He chose him, forced the dark gift upon him, and then left him, without any training or education.

@seamusohoulihan8076
@seamusohoulihan8076 Месяц назад
I just guessed that it might not be fully necessary. That draining to the point of death was a way to ensure that whoever was being turned truly wanted the gift being given and had to fight to stay alive or it was to help bestow a greater power because of the bodies weekness and need for more blood. Because not everyone stole the blood, they believed it was a full requirement when in actuality it wasn't because that's how it happend to them or were told. Also it may be to ensure that there was enough blood for a pure transformation and ensure they didn't end up like the revenant vampires. Of course I could be 100% wrong.
@sanfordfloridarepairs9668
@sanfordfloridarepairs9668 Месяц назад
@@seamusohoulihan8076 i think your wrong. Even in tv show lestat confirmed it. They must be drained so the change takes hold, and full proper transformation can happen. Just saying. My theory is is that he probably cut his wrist open.

I have been rereading The Vampire Lestat recently, and I have been asking the same question. I understand how Magnus got the blood from capturing a vampire, but how did Magnus drain himself? The way the turning process was described in the books, someone has to be almost drained of blood, and then given the blood from a vampire. Sometimes this has to be done multiple times. It's almost like a dialysis process, where the human blood has to be replaced by the magical vampire blood.

Very little is known about Magnus... Magnus saw more of Lestat in himself... Magnus stalked Lastat for quite sometime... Armand knew that Lastat was powerful than himself, being that Magnus fed from a powerful the ancient vampire Benedict, thus subsequently turning Lastat... Magnus started to become deformed and no longer attractive looking to easily seduce his prey... He wanted Lastat, as the only way was to abduct Lastat and get him drunk... In the era, Theatre actors were also prostitutes, as Lestat was... Lestat rejected Magnus' advances, hence Lastat was abducted and turned. Enter, Marius de Romanus, in "Blood and Gold" and "The Vampire Lastat" novels... It is unknown who is the "God of the Grove", that turned Marius...

Marius is the one who gave 'Dark gift' to Armand. Lestat knew about Marius from his creater and was fascinated by his wisdom and calmness. So he wanted to meet him. Marius is a mentor like figure to Lestat. Despite their different personalities, they have mutual respect and strong bond. Although they often have conflicts because of Lestat's impulsive nature, Lestat could bring out Marius's more adventurous and passionate side. Marius also often acts as a mediator between Lestat and Armand.

Ied really recommend the books as the closest we have gotten to the on film is the interview with the vampire and even that deviates heavily. The queen of the dammed film is so lose it’s like saying the sea is solid land it almost completely skips the vampire Lastat book, and the tv show is even worse I mean it says something when Anne rice was trying to stop it from been made until the very day she died. If you don’t have the time to read the books their are audiobooks heck there is full uploads of them on RU-vid if you can’t afford the book (I’ve been there so I know how terrible it feels). As for your question a lot of the problems with the film is pacing they too k two large books and tried to cram them into one fairly short film so they started slashing content. Marius was made in the renaissance era so he is by 2024 standing about 600 ish years old give or take a few hundred years (I’m working from memory so my numbers may be a bit off), how he became the caretakers of the king and Queen was there was an event called the great burning where the only caretaker tried to kill them both but failed, he left them for the sunrise burning all vampires the world over killing most of them leaving only the older ones that survive the sun some of them extremely badly burned but still clinging to life, when Marius finally found the queen and king they had I light bronzing to their marble skin to show for been left out in the sun all day, I can’t quite remember the fate of the old caretaker but he was still alive but badly burned, from that time on Marius took on the role of caretaker looking after their needs (which was mostly just dusting them daily 🤣 as the didn’t move... well almost but that’s for the book readers, Marius went on to make Armand who in the books like like 14, and later on meets Lastat and introduce him to the king and queen, over the years Marius try’s to keep them in touch with the world first with radio them later tv but we don’t know how much if any of it they see but as we do know vampires can hear the world while In torpor as Lastat is woken by the band playing a few houses down from where he is sleeping the king and queen may have heard everything.

@@permeus2ndfirst of all, the show is awesome! So far, besides the changes it has made as far as the time period, and Claudias age, and Louis and Claudias race, the references to the lore have been accurate. Lestat references to his maker Magnus, Those Who Must be Kept, all from the books. They did change where Armand came from Ukraine to Delhi, and aged him up a little. And you are not correct about when Marius was made. He was made about two thousand years ago, not the Renaissance. That's more like when he made Armand. Marius was a Roman citizen who had a Roman father and and a Gaul mother. He was in the the land of the Gauls when he was kidnapped to be given to the "god of the Grove". The god of the Grove was a vampire who turned Marius, and then told Marius to run because the worshippers would want to keep him captive in a tree so they can offer him sacrifices. Of course, Marius did escape.
