Jacobs did 3 races in 24 hours as Reider wanted him, De Grasse and the Chinese to simulate the Olympics. He was clearly loaded with a lot of work and that's why he looked so rusty and heavy. He told the press that he felt comfortable with his body, and that he expected slightly faster times as the made some mistakes in the transition from the 15m to the 30m. If you've seen him in training (especially in the gym with those new machines), he's gained more explosivity.

in 2021 Jacobs had a 9.95 (Italian record) and 6.47 over 60m. In Tokyo he scored 9.94, 9.84 and gold with 9.80. The one in Rieti was the training wanted by R. Yes, a 10 plus time is not going to make the final, and normally I respect Rodney's call because he's often on the money, but spend a few minutes searching and Jacobs been under 10 seconds multiple times in 2024 where I don't think he broke the barrier once in 2023. He said he ran a poor race and one poor race does not indicate where somewhere is in terms of their preparation.

I agree with all three of you guys. His seasons best 9.92 ain’t gonna cut it. That said, his 10.08 could have been run with sore, fatigued muscles off a workout because his training schedule is focused on only tapering for Paris, and we won’t know what kind of shape he’s in until the prelims. Overall I don’t see him being much of a threat seeing that he’s still injured this season, and sadly that’s been the case since May 2022

It would be good for him to surprise us at the Olympics. It would be good if he makes the final.
