We do tag and release for NOAA. Studies articulating a high mortality rate for hammerheads pertain to individuals using cheap, weak gear thus elongating the fight time, and those who delay the release process. I use the heaviest line commercially available, have very short fight times and never delay the release process ( dont pose for photos, tail rope the sharks etc.) I've never had one die/wash back up on the shore- I've also participated in studies proving a >90% survival rate for hammerheads
As a Biologist im thrilled to have read your pinned comment! Hammerheads are lovely creatures but have been declining fast over the years. Its nice to see some big ones still living their life. Tagging these beasts are important so we can find their path of travels and pattern leading us being able to protect and keep people out of these areas.
@@Spamton.No.1RatedSalesman1997 why not just leave them alone... theres so many comments encouraging hunting it's so weird. imagine going through that from an animals perspective
The hammer head shark is most likely going to die. Sadly, they have to keep moving or else they die its call RAM tunas and great whites and many more use it .
@@sploomwhale9424nah he explained it wrong sharks have slits in their sides kinda like gills adk if it is gills or not but that have to keep moving through the water for water to go through them and if they stop like that where their not moving thru the water they most likely are gonna die
@@KashOutttt exactly why shark fisherman do not beach hammerheads. you can even see them in the video they dehook him in the water. you guys underestimate sharks.
@@user-lk1oi2ih1rit's illegal in different places and can sometimes hurts the sharks but I totally agree with you people should not be hunting sharks unless its for research
When the fish moves like that its cuz he is rl tired 😅 You can fight for hours with big fishes (some species of pacu "vegan pirana") can fight you for 4 to 5 hours 😂
Btw Shark fishing is not illegal everywhere some states allow it but in certain circumstances. If you shark fish you must release all sharks backs back.
Don't go shark fishing for hammer heads. They can die from not moving, or die from stress. I read the pinned comment. The creator made the comment after me, and replied to me.
For those who don’t know:if you notice the sharks head is shaped like a hammer they are called "hammer head sharks"and the reason they are able to go near it and catch it is because hammer head sharks are friendly and they are not harmful and they don’t attack
RIP hammerhead shark 🗿💀 Explanation : Hammerhead sharks are sensitive to stress and they will most likely die.. And also they have to keep moving or else they will die, this is called RAM tunas and many other fishes use it like the great white shark You should be careful anyways, shark fishing is illegal and probably you think this is GTA 5 🗿💀
Shark fishing is legal dude unless you kill the fish you will face around 3-4 years(I guess)in prison and if the fish died he should be in jail right now
Same as a horseshoe crab I think you can’t pick it up or it will die, I saw one while I was in the beach, but it was dead, after that someone ripped its tail off
The Shark Conservation Act of 2010 requires that all sharks, with one exception, be brought to shore with their fins attached, meaning that as long as the fin is attached, it’s completely legal to fish for sharks, though you do need a permit.
illegal to target them, not illegal to shark fish and catch one in the process. For every hammer we catch 10 bulls, which are overpopulated. Can't help what eats our baits 🤷
@@Burningziller lmao like what? you eat dairy products and chickens (I assume you are not vegan) and in the dairy industry male chicks are killed by maceration and carbon dioxide asphyxiation(they suffer while suffocating) and no one cares about them??? anyway im not a vegan its just surprising how hypocrite people can be sometimes
The Shark Conservation Act of 2010 requires that all sharks, with one exception, be brought to shore with their fins attached, meaning that as long as the fin is attached, it’s completely legal to fish for sharks, as long as you have a permit and don’t kill a lot.
They legit aren't so your research before commenting they are vulnerable because of population decline and also they aren't killing it lol how are they gonna unhook the shark if they can't get close to it and getting in the water with a shark is way too dangerous
