i have a question... when i shoot in 24fps it looks so insanely laggy ... but your videos in 24fps seem soo smooth... how? ... i was always forced to shoot in 60fps because anything below feels awful for my eyes and also when i move to the side with 24fps ithe moves are a pain to watch... ( i dont use gimble, just my iphone 12 and filmic pro)

Want to clear the air on something, and correct me iff I'm wrong; he did not record at 24fps for each shot. If you think about it, when he executed slomo through some of the shots, if it were recorded at 24fps then it would have been extremely choppy; rather, he must've recorded those specific shots in at LEAST 30fps, giving him the ability to slomo successfully. However, in post it may have been rendered out at 24fps which is an important detail to dissociate.

If you shoot in 24 FPS how do you slow it down and make it smooth after in post production? Because with filmic pro on 4k/filmic extreme/dolby vision mode i can only shoot in 24, 25 or 30 FPS and when I slow it down (50%) in fcpX the footage doesn't look very good as if it was an originally 60 or 120 fps footage

If you plan to slow it down, you have to shoot at those faster frame rates. My main point is that you should select your FPS based on your final output

its because of the shutter speed. install a 3rd party app like filmic pro and set the shutter speed to 1/48 or 1/50 if you are shooting at 24fps

Sometimes when I edit my videos I realize that I want to slow down the speed (or speed up) a little bit to either to match the music I use or just because I like the esthetics of it. If I shoot all my footage at 24 or 30p, I'm afraid that the video becomes choppy because of the lack of frame rates (at least if I shoot at 24p). Therefore am I wrong to believe that I should shoot at 60p to have more flexibility later on in post to play with the speed ? Thanks for all the tips

Yes. I like to slow down clips. I guess bump up to 60 if you know you’re wanting smooth and slow shutter butter? Use for those clips and then back to 24?

It’s possible that your machine isn’t great at handling 4K footage if that is the case , try using proxies that will make your life much easier and maybe solve that issue...
