I'm actually fairly surprised by the trailer while at the same time remaining cautiously optimistic. I'm definitely most excited for the pier lot, the photo booth and teens sneaking out, I just hope there are consequences and some sort of curfew system to actually give them a reason to sneak out rather then them just walking out the front door. but I have to admit it is a bit jarring to still see the teens look like young adults, especially while attending high school.. was hoping there would be some kind of update to teens to give them more of their own look.
I was cautiously optimistic with Cottage Life. I played it for three hours before I was bored, and now I never play with anything from the Cottage Life pack. I should probably try to breathe new life into it again.
The “puberty” part will probably just be the body hair growing and then EA just expanding the mood swings that are already in game (in parenting I think?) where the children will mope around, walk funny, and/or be angry for no reason
i really appreciate your perspective and feedback on new content. I wasn't excited about Highschool pack at first. I do really like the build buy shown and the art deco style of the highschool but I'm pessimistic about expecting too much from the gameplay. Wedding disaster has just broken my confidence in the team to make good content consistently
It is giving me Sims 3 University vibes. Going to class, studying at the library, cheerleading and it seems to have much more. Don't want to get too excited about the pack, then get let down, but I am excited!
That's how I felt about Cottage Life. I got excited, bought it, got bored of it after three hours, and now I never play with Cottage Life stuff. I've learned my lesson. I'm never going to be disappointed by Sims 4 stuff again. I'm done. I enjoy watching others play with it than actually playing with it, unless I have a good story going.

I think the puberty part will just be mood buffs and like how small Sims dress up in a blue bear costume when seriously depressed, etc. I doubt ea will give us periods. But I have faith in modders because they always find a way🤷
They have the pre-teen mod which to me should have been collaborated with. The teens actually look smaller and get mood swings. Mods are definitely the go to on this, we can only hope they can compete!
In the US sports venues at the high school level can be part of the school or separate depending. Some places will have high schools that share stadiums.
I was excited after watching the trailer and that isn't always the case when a new pack comes out. I know in High School we have 4 years of it and just wondering about this pack, if so, it will take a long time for a sim to finish High School, which is ok. I can't wait for the live stream on the 15th and for the pack to be released.
You are correct that Sims 4 is showing everything comparing to earlier Sims games there are surprises not shown in the trailer because there is way too much to show in 2 minutes. There just spoil everything in Sims 4, I am not surprised the fun fair items like Ferris wheel, tunnel of love and the haunted mansion are rabbit holes. The prom event is something I'm very cautious of... it reminds me a lot of My Wedding Stories about to happen.
I won't be surprised if Sims can't ride that ferris wheel, or if the cheerleading never goes smoothly - e.g. Your Sim always cheerleads alone because the group keeps pissing off and playing on their phones. I do think there should be the risk of the teenager who sneaks out getting caught by their parents if they're awake when they're gone. Also, we need to address the elephant in the room: These Sims are meant to be HIGHSCHOOLERS, and they're the same height as ADULTS.

Prom? No, they recycled Wedding stories. This is a TON of stuff that they recycled from other packs, the festivals, wedding pack, and University to name a few. Other streamers have also mentioned get to work is also popping up in some features. It seems that very little of this pack is unique, beyond CAS and Build/Buy. I won't be paying 40$ for a stuff pack.
I'm super excited for it cause I hate sending Sims to school and not knowing what they are up to! I really was hoping it would enclude elementary and middle school stuff as well but until than I'll stick to trusted mods.
If they wanted to make uniforms available, I think something could be done like with the restaurant uniforms, have a couple premade options, but also customizable. They proooobably won't though.
I'm being very cautiously optimistic about this. It looks great from the trailer, but how will this all work in the game? I'm really wondering what happens if you have more than one teen? Am I going to have to devote all my game play to my teens to achieve all these things? Like, nobody else in the family gets play time because I've got to take the teen to do all these things. I honestly don't want it to be like that, but I can't imagine how else it would go. If I have more than one teen will I be able to play with them together with all these things or will it have to be separate? I've just got a lot of questions lol.
I think it'll be like active careers and you can choose to follow your teen to school or not. It does mean that there's going to be a lot to juggle if you like to give all your sims heaps of attention. I'm assuming at school you'll be able to play both teens by clicking on them in the active sim menu.
It says at the bottom, GAME ENGINE FOOTAGE, NOT ALL IMAGES APPEAR IN GAME. Be careful with your interpretations. I have no doubt that disappointment will follow because people read too much into these trailers.
I hate to say it but I’m genuinely excited for this expansion pack. I know I know, but I haven’t been this excited about something sims 4 related since it’s announcement 😭
Yeah I don't trust EA just to do something unless there's alot of fan demand. The flag is likely just there just for rainbow points and rainbow capitalism. You know, a company saying that they care, when they really don't. This is the newer pride flag; so it's just there for points.
Players for years have been wanting "realistic" high school, and then when they get Pretty In Pink, Encino Man and The Breakfast Club, (movies) they cheer. This is nowhere close to reality for most schools, even in America. My high school looked like a (literally) trailer park in Strangerville. I am sure realistic dress codes will not be adhered to in this pack. Some schools don't even have clubs, especially not in low income areas. I'll bet that all of the kids will be middle/upper class with no low-income representations at all. Realistic? No. I am an American, and I hope for other option toggles or other ways to make it less Hollywood. This trailer is actually like American High School movies, not real life. I grew up in a very low income area, not anything close to that DelSol Valley type School. At my school all of the buildings were separate, all one level, office, library, gym etc, and the classrooms were just 3 rooms in a long building in rows. Some classrooms actually were single classroom trailers, which was thier solution to expanding class sizes and growing population in the area. Every year after summer break there would be several walls with graffiti that had been painted over. The only thing I saw in the pack trailer that existed at my school was sports/cheerleading, cliques/gangs and prom. We didn't have after school activities besides sports, if you weren't at practice, you had no reason to be on campus after school at all, if you were generally they would call the police. The soccer/American Football field was actually in the middle of the track because there was not enough room for all of them to be separate. The gym was one basketball court and a few bleachers. No swimming pool, and I grew up in California. I now live in Nevada, 49th shittiest in the nation for education, and around 50% of kids leave High School (after graduating) functionally illiterate. No school clubs, gangs often called themselves "clubs" in the past, so no hobby/homework/yearbook extracurricular type clubs, no student government or prom king/queen ("hierarchy" resulted in bullying), nothing. We weren't even allowed lockers because for years earlier kids were hiding stuff in them that was illegal. Even gym lockers had no locks, so no one brought anything to school that could get stolen. I am a giant nerd and was beaten up twice in Junior High School, once at a dance. Yeah, none of that trauma is in this pack. Alot of gang (it was not gang members that bullied/teased me though, it was Ash and Molly type girls that beat me up) activity in my neighborhood and a kid was stabbed in front of the gym at lunch when I was a sophomore. This is idealized American High School and nothing close to low-income high schools. I doubt that there is a single school in San Jose CA where I grew up (Or in LasVegas NV where I live now) that looks like that. At the end of the day, they just recycled aspects of festivals (humor and hijinks etc), University and the Wedding pack and are labelling it an expansion. I doubt that there is enough unique content to make an entire expansion, so I doubt that I will be buying it.
I was pretty skeptical about how they were going to do a high school pack but this looks like it’s going to be pretty good (as long as there aren’t a ton of bugs 😅) I’m glad I waited on getting the werewolf pack cuz I think I would use this pack more (as much as the build/buy looks cool in that pack) I know I can’t wait to see the LP’s you come up with for this pack! 😆 -also I know people keep saying this looks like “American HS” but to me it’s more of American “Movie” HS cuz I know mine didn’t look like this lol but some may have 🤷♀️
Checking out the EA website, it looks like a new town with one high school, a thrift store/soda shop, a library, and an amusement park. Body hair will (finally!) be added to the base game with this pack via a free update, though, so that’s one of the things associated with sims’ puberty. Definitely explains the teen boy shaving in the mirror. Since grooming is required, I wonder if that’s only for facial hair.
I wonder if female sims get body hair. I didn't see any and I feel like people forget that we got body hair as well, it is just so normalized for us to shave.
I’m almost positive the new shop is a boba shop!! I’m so excited for this pack, the new world kind of reminds me of sunset valley (especially that last shot)
I was thinking about this the other day, comparing TS2 to TS4. In order to get similar gameplay to TS2 Nightlife, you would need Get Together, Dining Out, Vampires, and Bowling (at least). Most of the packs would need several to be similar. I was so happy about the photobooth, as that was one of my favorite objects from Nightlife. It's about time for a sneaking out option. I doubt they'll have periods, but zits and braces should be included. I'm also primarily a family player which is why my werewolves series is very family oriented. I rarely play a single unless I'm just trying to playtest something new. Family dynamics are what drives me.
@@WhinyBrit they are nickel and diming us. I got many of my expansion packs free in Sims 2 because I wrote tutorials for it and Sims 1, but so far I have only bought werewolves at full price and most likely this one as well. I have been waiting for them all to go on sale
I'm sure everyone knows this, but to buy ts4 and every add on, it is over $1000 USD. EA really has no shame in making their customers fall into their traps that drain us of our money. I'm a lot more cautious about what I buy, and even then, it has backfired for me in the case of ts4 add ons. I really could have gone without most of the packs I bought. It makes me really sad that we can't just get our money's worth per pack, meaning more good quality content (for less money would be great, especially in this economy) that makes us as customers feel like "I have little/no regrets for paying for that," regardless of whether or not we buy it on sale.
@@MelissaLawrence2002 absolutely! Even had I paid full price for The Sims 2 packs I would not have regretted it because they are all so well developed and only had minor bugs that I have ever been able to identify. The only consistent bug that I have found with them is that somewhere down the line it's pretty much become impossible for my Sims to get alien pregnant. And also that try as I might I can't get the leader of the pack to nibble to create a werewolf. So I have work around for those. But dining out has been out for how long and it still takes 8 hours to eat out? Two is reasonable eight is not.
tfw no band class or marching band. Hopefully there's a larger amount of clubs and extracurricular activities to choose from, and hopefully (×2) our Sims will be able to join MORE than one. This looks pretty good, though it's a bit off-putting that a majority of those "kids" look like they're about to start pushing 30 😳
There's actually more detail in the website in news bit, and they do hint at teen relationships and specifically a "crush stage" and teen breakups in there. Also after school activities are a science fair, chess club (i think), computer club, football and cheerleading. You can also prank the high school! Like mark up the whiteboard or mess with the intercom. Also-- The boba tea shop seems to be a new lot type, though I'm not certain. Anyway just wanted to inform! Thanks for the video! Oh, and an edit: you can also build your own high school since it's a buildable lot, i think in the world!
So I really can't wait for this. I was most excited about the photo booth and the fact that you go to school with them! I hope they add an active teaching career too for high school teachers. As far as doing more for the LGBT....stuff, I think they are just giving the player all the tools, then the player can make things happen as they see fit. I actually think it's a great balance.
Sports fields etc at schools or separate. It does vary, but mostly they are located on school grounds, they are used for gym class also. School Districts here cannot afford to bus entire teams to other locations just for practice.
I've only been here since the end of 2020, but MWS has been the only other pack I was ever excited about. I was so excited to finally live vicariously through my sims (I'm one step away from being strictly bedridden, so my wedding day is now undetermined since we won't be able to on the day I was hoping for), I told my fiancé how excited I was to be able to play out our dream wedding as many times as I wanted until we could live it ourselves, and once it came out and everyone was reviewing it, my heart shattered. I'm still too scared to buy it because I don't want to be let down again by the same pack. I already know there are things I'd like from this pack that we aren't getting (teens that don't look 25), but I just want it to be as good as it looks, or maybe even better. Another "sob story" I guess. I didn't have friends in HS, but I was bound and determined I was gonna go and have the best senior prom ever...guess what year that was? 2020!!! Never went to a single prom, but I really wasn't gonna let not having a date stop me this time. However, I did start dating my now fiancé during quarantine, still during the school year, and they still were trying to say "it's just gonna be 2 weeks of lockdown," so I was really excited to go to prom with him once the world went back to normal again. When that never happened, he had several friends who were throwing their own proms, and we were invited, buy my fiancé's parents wouldn't let us because 1) the pandemic (plus his dad is diabetic), which is honestly fair and I would've been hesitant too if I were them, and 2) they didn't like that he was dating me in general because of cultural standards his family has. So as hard as we fought to compromise a prom plan his parents were ok with, we never got a senior prom. I cried when my younger sister was getting ready for her senior prom this year because I am still really sad I never got that magical night, especially with my fiancé. I know I'm basically rambling to a stranger, but I just related to what you said, and I got talkative as a result.
