I love that you've shared this - it's so important that we remain rooted in our culture. I'm Zimbabwean and I felt so honoured when we wen through the process - it's such a beautiful custom and a sign of forming unity amongst the families. It's not about the amount of money or livestock but the respect, humility and gesture of good will between both families. Congradulations on your lobelia journey x
Thanks so much Prim. I know many have no clue of the significance of lobola and I thought it would mean more it coming from a fellow young person like myself. You are also right, Lobola is more about the respect above everything thing material related.
Sisssssssss I am so happy that you made a video about lobola. I was one of those people who used to think the act of paying lobola is like purchasing a woman. Until today when I watched this video, I got to really understand what it means. You changed my perception on this matter definitely!!! I am so grateful for that❤️❤️ Kitchen Partyyyyyyy yessssssssss I love how you elaborated it. In Tanzania we do kitchen parties as well! I love attending them because there is just so much to learn. I absolutely enjoyed this videoooooooo, very informative Sis!!!
This right here put a smile on my face because its exactly why I shared this video. I think it coming from a fellow young person, it carries more weight and my peers like yourself are more likely to listen than it coming from our elders because we might think they are just old fashioned. I am glad a played a role in helping you see things in a different light. I didn't know Kitchenparties are also done in TZ you know. Can covid be gone already so that I have my kitchen party please :)
@@Stephylately I agree with you Sis, the topic carries more weight when our peers speak about it🙌🏼. Yes we do kitchen parties, send offs, then the wedding!
Great insight. I'm proud of where I come from, Zambia will always be me but I agree some questionable cultural things 😂 and especially having grown up 🇧🇼🇬🇧 BUT we must keep our culture. I'm in an interracial relationship and talking lobola was a special subject. But important to talk about for real
Oh yes there are certainly some aspects that I choose and others which I question. Most importantly, it is best to ask and be informed before ruling things out in my view. Glad you can relate x
I loved this video sis! And we would be totally lost as a people if we abandoned our culture and traditions as soon as we left our home country. I’m all for it and I was very excited to be able to experience the whole lobola thing - I’m equally looking forward to my kitchen party in the states! We have to represent our people wherever we are - also, my kids won’t have a choice in the matter, we will go through it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this was very informative!
Heyy sis! Iwe tell me about it. The richness of our culture is really underestimated to be honest. Glad you are equally embracing every single bit of the wedding process, from lobola to kitchen parties etc. We love to see it. As for the kids iye lol imwe they just have to understand mweh. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it x
Thank you so much my sister ❤️ honestly there are some cultures and Norms that are worth holding on to especially in the western world we live in now x
Very well put you have done a tremendous job once again ❤️🙌🏾, we need to hold on to our culture it is indeed who we are and what sets us apart, i would have a kitchen party for sure, as per tradition i think its a beautiful tradition.
Aaaaw thank you so much sis. Staying true to my culture is something I can never shy away from. Glad we share similar sentiments and thank you for watching.
Absolutely! That’s why it’s important to educate those that might not know about it and the reasons why these cultures are done in the first place . The choice to go ahead is entirely personal . Thanks for watching. X
