I’ve never thought about that Annette! Maybe he is thinking he is saying it inside. He says it quietly but sometimes loud enough other kids can hear it. Right he is struggling with self monitoring. Add it to list of things we are working on. But he is smart and loves to learn he will get there. Patience and understanding on his road until he gets there is important.

Yes! I did a record and some shirts for work. But we decided to treat ourselves to a festival this summer not sure what yet though

Yes me too. We often get he is just like everyone else in the class and we are like yeah but he’s not. I don’t even talk about the disregulated part of things. I always say well ok he is doing 8th grade algebra is that like the other kids? It isn’t just negative that sets him apart it’s positive things as well. I get so frustrated with teachers at times. It’s such a rigid way of thinking. A lot of times I find myself thinking how do these adults have such high expectations of these kids about things that even adults can’t do.

Yes! That’s what was happening. He was little and doesn’t do that anymore. Others words are in that place. Right! You don’t have to share personal info but education should be given to teachers and students. These kids are integrated into the classrooms and then segregated one way or another it’s not right.

I understand that they can’t share private information. I know that there are not allowed to share confidential information. However I do believe that if there are Connaught classrooms then there should information shared about different types of disabilities so parents and children are aware that there are all sorts of children that are integrated into classrooms in schools. My son does not say the F word anymore it was brought on by trauma from an incident that was occurring daily in kindergarten. He should never be made into an example for any reason. Currently he is being kicked out of classrooms for saying things out of turn or something he has trouble keeping inside ie a sigh of frustration, saying something is stupid (to himself but out loud ) we are working with him diligently to help him understand that he needs to say these things inside not out loud. I have always advocated for all children not just mine. However there needs to be a level of education of special needs for children and parents and that doesn’t mean sharing personal information. There are 1 in 36 children born with autism I just truly believe there needs to be more education and acceptance within school communities. We have had a tough road with some teachers and parents that do not believe autism is a thing. They believe it’s an excuse for bad behavior and bad parenting. My son is a good kid. More respectful and kind and empathetic than most kids his age. My issue is with teachers that don’t want to deal with it and think it is unfair to the majority. I will always advocate for my son. They can not treat them all the same they are all different.

Yes it sure is. I hate that he has to deal with that. That is a major stressor for him. Like I have to keep it together so I don’t get kicked out leads to stress and anxiety and then it happens. So hard to navigate all this at times with different teachers and their perspective on this.
