There are a few ways for the thing about CJ not knowing his dad, but look like Brian to fit. The first is simply Emmett's eyesight isn't that great and he simply couldn't tell the difference. This other is that both brothers had different dads, and ended up looking more like their mother than their respective fathers. It could even be a mix of both.
He also might not have known much about him, a quiet guy. Or he was in and out of CJ's life. Or they just never hung out, not all children are close to one or more of their parents despite living with them.
@@smsff7 I didn't see it for years as it was only on the PC version and I played it on PS2. It is never really stated in the main info, about the age difference. From what I understand it was mentioned on a Website Rock Star put up to advertise the game. I never saw it personally. Because of that and the game being vague on the subject your conclusion is understandable.
The biggest plothole/forced thing in the game is how CJ has to work for two corrupted cops instead of just killing them, and can't just bust his brother out of jail when he can enter basically area 51 and steal a jetpack without even covering his face, killing hundreds of soldiers and get away with all that and be completely fine. Lol
CJ risked Sweet being killed by guards the second he got near the prison. It was essentially a hostage situation, not a straightforward "breaking and entering". It's likely that's why he couldn't touch Tenpenny until after Sweet was freed.
It could be that smoke really was waiting for cj, but he didn't recognize it with CJ and he thought it was just an intruder. Big Smoke says himself that the East Coast got him all thinned out so he clearly looks different than he did 5 years ago
I think Smoke was in the Johnson's house expecting the Ballas there who were supposed to report to him that they had successfully killed Sweet at the cemetery with Ryder's assistance, and help the Ballas take over Grove Street for good. However when he saw CJ he thought he was an intruder and when he recognized him he was forced to change his plan (you can see him and Ryder talking behind CJ and Sweet at the cemetery) and act like they were still loyal but still hoping the Ballas would have got the job done and kill Sweet. When Sweet evaded them Ryder made up some BS about having killed the Ballas and they all reunited at the hood.
@@the_sam_strongonly issue with that is that rockstar didn’t plan on having Ryder turn until late in development that’s why CJ never mentions ryders betrayal except in the mission that you kill Ryder
@@suicidesk0pez166He mentions his betrayal before that actually, in the mission “Photo Opportunity” which was originally meant to be the mission where CJ finds out about Ryder’s betrayal. This is why CJ does not acknowledge Ryder in “The Green Sabre”. Ryder was always meant to betray them
If Smoke was trying to steal sausages from Sweet's fridge, then it was Smoke that was in the wrong house, since Sweet didn't live in the Johnson family house, he lived in the house next to it...
My theory is Big Smoke saw CJ go into the house and parked in front hence we see his car when we leave the house with him. He went through the backdoor because he didn't know it was CJ going through the front. Thinking he was a robber, Big Smoke tried to catch him off guard with the bat.
I think it makes sense for smoke to be there. Sweet wouldnt miss his own mothers funeral, asked smoke to wait for CJ, who by phone call, they knew he was coming back. He didn't arrive when expected, so as not to miss the funeral, they went and either smoke volunteered, or was asked to wait for CJ. CJ then enters the house, dead silent, having flash backs and doesnt announce himself. Smoke sitting in a house that was recently lit up and abandoned. It makes sense he would be on edge.
Me and my older brother look alike have the same voice and similar height and mannerisms (both 5’8 1/2) same skin tone, different hair textures same eyes, different noses. Tho we are only half siblings sharing the same mom. Same thing with my little brother. Hes just lighter in skin tone and slightly taller. My family is a good representation of this. Genes can be super strong.
It's probably just there to insinuate that Smoke was involved in CJ's mother's death from the beginning. Something as simple as it's weird he's even in there and then you find out he's the bad guy. It's a writing thing, sometimes you just fudge things to make it work and hope no one notices.
Actually the chronological order is LCS, gta san andreas, gta iii, the writers overlooked the years, because at the end of lcs, luigi owns the club, cj works for joey leone, goes back home gta sa happens, and mid gta sa story you meet Claude and Catalina who are leaving for liberty city. and then gta iii begins
It wouldn’t have worked. Rockstar did Vice City Stories based on a side character in Vice City set 2 years earlier. Rockstar did Liberty City Stories based on a side character in Liberty City set 3 years earlier. “San Andreas Stories” would’ve been the main character again, but set in … Liberty City? Sure, it could’ve been set 2-3 years earlier just like the others, but you can’t have CJ in it and running around Liberty City. The better setting would’ve been Sweet as the main character getting beat back by rival gangs in San Andreas… a very dark plot line.
My theory about smoke being in the Johnson's house almost similars to yours but remember sweet is the only person who call CJ and we don't know if CJ actually tell them he's coming home, so my theory is we know Smoke is one of the traitor that got Beverly killed so he just want to stay in the house instead of going to the funeral for some CHICKEN or he just didn't care about Beverly until someone other than Sweet, Kendle, Ryder enter the house
Nah, with his frame, he's probably pushing 300. Admittedly, that is more common. Homer on the Simpsons is supposed to be like 240. Which was comically fat in the 90s.
Well, I always had the impression that big smoke thought someone is robbing the house. "You picked the wrong house fool" Which means he was not expecting anyone. He could still be waiting for CJ but Carl got stalled so Smoke thought it's a robber or something.
Logically "you PICKED the wrong house fool" tells me Smoke was defending himself from a burglar with his gangsta antics. Why did he care about a burglar, he told Sweet he'll watch inside the house in case the attackers come back (as an excuse). Why did he stay: Tenpenny ordered Smoke to go in (and check if there's evidence left over from the drive-by or something). Smoke, thinking someone came because he busted him somehow, attacks the intruder with a bat out of paranoia forgetting that CJ was coming.
I would presume that the Ballas OGs wanted to lure the killer of Little Weasel out into a trap, that’s why they were armed to the teeth, with Kane himself probably wanting to ensure the culprits won’t take over more Ballas territory. As for Luigi’s club my head canon is that the Sindaccos took it over but spared Luigi to avoid an all-out war, likely after Toni left town. About CJ’s father, Brian was ten years old when he was killed in 1987, when Carl was about 20, most likely. So, if they’re from the same father, CJ would’ve remembered him. It’s either that it was retconned, or that Brian’s father passed away or divorced their mother. It’s also possible that Carl and Brian are twins, hence why CJ doesn’t remember his father. As for Smoke, I think he waited for Sweet to kill him as a backup plan if the Ballas hitmen failed. But he might have a hard time escaping the scene to begin with on account of his size. As for him not showing up I would think that he told Sweet that he was going to hold down the Grove for a bit and wait for CJ, as well as most likely prepare the crew for war.
1. maybe sweet called him a balla because he sold them out. and ballas cared about him too much because he was always on their side but sweet didn't know it. 2. maybe luigi didn't just take there in 1998, he retook it. maybe in 1992, the place was his, but they took the place from him between 1992 and 1998. 3. maybe brian was their half brother and both cj and he looked like their mom so much. or their vibes were similar instead of their looks and that's why emmet was confused. 4. maybe smoke had nothing to do with cj, and he was just the plan b for killing sweet
You're wrong about the Smoke theory. He was there hiding Ryder water man, trying to get him off the sticks, thats why Ryder was looking for the wet in the back yard...oh jeah, a genius
at least in hindsight, the whole "Big Smoke nearly killing CJ with a baseball bat" at the start could be one of the first hints that Smoke is a traitor albeit it wasn't executed properly without creating the plothole.
Another Plothole: In GTA III, Joey tells Claude that the Colombian Cartel are a new gang, but it's shown in LCS that they've already been around for quite a while by then.
From what I've heard,CJ was 24 in 1992,and he spent 5 years in Liberty city, moving there after Brian got killed,so he was around 19 at the time. My guess is that Brian was 17,that would explain him being younger and less experianced with GSF than CJ,but it still wouldn't change CJ's claim that he never knew their dad.
My theory is that Brian and Carl have the same mom but not the same dad (galf siblings) and look similar because they got their looks more from their mom but hey that's just a theory a game theory lol you don't gotta agree but please be respectful.
His Dad may have been in and out of his life, or he was commenting on not knowing who he really is as a person. Or they lived together, but just weren't close. But since the game never says probably not.
In the introduction video we can see that the ballas blasted the mommy johnson house instead of sweet house, i guess big smoke called the balla who shot to the house with excuses of finishing the assassination but in reality to kill that balla and erase evidence. That "you pick the wrong house fool" was for the shooter who shoot the wrong house and din't kill Sweet
Little Weasel wasn't killed in Dobberman, he was killed in Drive-By (canonically, the game doesn't explicitly identify him), and yes, Smoke (as well as Ryder and Sweet) was there with CJ. The traitor we kill in Dobberman was a different guy. The Introduction and Luigi's club discrepancy is just laziness or an oversight on the devs' side. I mean, who's gonna care about such a small detail?
2:05 this is bit of a stretch considering the game didn't show any action taken elsewhere during the funeral but if we ignore that fact then it sounds like behavior one would do to have an alibi. 'Oh we were at a funeral, couldn't simply be assosiated with x crime.' What comes to Big Smoke, he could have simply just located the dude for us without taking part of the mission.
Head canon for the club is that the club looked like that at first, then it changed to lcs style, and after luigi came, he used the old style as nostalgia
Smoke was waiting there to kill Sweet. He made sure CJ was delayed so that when Sweet came over if he survived the first attempt, then he would finish Sweet off. Smoke was the backup plan a the cops were to make sure CJ was kept out of the way.
Since everyone was at the funeral then Smoke stayed to guard the place. Perhaps he was in the kitchen at the time. He might've been snacking while Carl got stalled. And he was startled because someone entered the house silently, while nobody was supposed to be there. But he simply forgot Carl was coming home for the funeral. When Smoke realized that it's Carl his reaction seemed like "oh it's just you".
I feel since smoke was involved in cjs moms death, he felt guilty and returned to the scene of the crime. Evidence for this is supported with the fact that after carl, left the grove and sweet was inside, junkies took over the house, so he probably thought it was just some basehead prowling.
Plan: Send Ballas to the grove funeral to force sweet to run home to smoke. Smoke is there already, they “hide” together or blast back, Smoke shoots Sweet, Smoke blames the Ballas, CJ comes back and Smoke can just run drugs with Ryder and CJ
CJ was born in 1968. He was 19 when Brian died. Most likely Sweet has a different father than everyone else. Not to mention, he’s at least 5 years older than Carl, and had to be the “man” being the oldest. It would also explain why CJ, Kendl and Brian look so much alike. They all have lighter skin tones and eye colors compared to Sweet.
Idk about the Cj's Dad plot hole but all I can say is that Cj probably knew his father when he was so young he cant even remember, maybe use the word "never" reveal some bad feelings he have toward his father for being absent but dont tell the real true. Is easy to put like that than "yeah my dad abandoned me when I was 2"
Me and my brother have different moms but we both look like our dad. It’s very possible for half siblings to look somewhat similar or have facial features from one side. So CJ and Brain more than likely resemble their mom in the face.
I think Big Smoke used their phone to call the ballas and let them know they were at the graveyard. It also gives him a chance to see what CJ knows and if he knows Big Smoke is the traitor.
Well Smoke was working for Tempenny basically and CJ too. Maybe he didn't want to kill Sweet, he wanted him to be in jail. Smoke wasn't bad or hostile to them, even at the end of the line mission Smoke feels depressed, he just expects CJ. The Green Sabre mission doesn't necessarily say that both Smoke or Ryder killed CJ's mother, it's only a lead to the car that actually was there. But the two of them doing a betrayal in the game it was there, Tempenny was holding everyone of them and he was manipulating one another. Maybe if Ryder didn't betray CJ he would have gone to war with Cesar surely since he had a crush on CJ's sister. And Sweet didn't like Cesar at all. Big Smoke though i think he was the main errand man for Tempenny before CJ.
Smoke was at his moms house because after Crash stalling for him. He planned on driving to the funeral with carl seeing sweet dead and blaming it on Temple drives families since they weren't cool. Which would've made it easier for Cj to make money with Smoke and Ryder as top dogs in the drug game. Sweet surviving made smoke have to adjust because he couldn't actually kill CJ
Just because Emmett confused CJ with Brian doesn't mean they looked similar. Emmett appears to be an older gentleman, and his memory and mind may not be at its best. The fact that when the gun he was holding misfired, he starts yelling "who shot at me?!" shows his mind might not be great and he simply just confused their names. So, IMO, the fact that Emmett called CJ Brian is not evidence that they had the same father.
The whole trip with CRASH was to plant evidence against Carl to keep him under control. Smoke was doing what CRASH wanted and was planting more evidence in the house.
for the last thread i believe that big smoke was waiting for sweet to come back and eliminate him in his mothers house... while crush held CJ up for a while, the idea is to emlinate Sweet, let CJ walk into the house find Sweet died and then hope that he will make some sort of contact with the body or murder weapon so Big Smoke And Crush could frame CJ for killing his Own brother . this would make some sense plus the rest of the GS family would believe it since CJ left while not in good terms with Sweet and the family plus also been blamed for his little brother's death.
Why does everyone assume he was waiting in his moms house instead of next door at his own house what incentive does he have to go there as a matter of fact we do not see him there until the end of the game he moves back in to his moms house once he gets out then gets his house back we never see him there in the early parts of the game not even to visit CJ
Love seeing homelander it's perfect right down the little details gta san Andreas is a icon among men and women who love games and the Russian with candy suxxxx in the hot tub 😂
Maybe, CJ father's nickname is DJ or BJ during his own days as the member of his generation Groove Street but I hope I'm not wrong when I think BJ and DJ stands for Big Johnson and Dick Johnson (I'm sorry for using that D Word and thus making that kind of joke at the first place)
Who exactly was smoke expecting to walk in the Johnsons house in the beginning?...and why didn't cj think that was odd he's in their house while the funeral was happening
It’s not even that strange idk why people are making a big deal out of it, he was simply waiting for CJ to arrive so he can take CJ to funeral, and he may have not recognised CJ at first glance that’s why he attacked, they didn’t saw each other for 5 years after all
@@waters228_91 actually it doesn't make sense, people usually criticize things they hate or don't like and they don't like hearing criticism about things they love
@@rhythmkhandelwal2940 Uh, no. Criticizing something doesn't mean you hate it completely. It just means that you feel there are certain points of a significant object that could use some improvements. Nothing, no matter how good it would be, is exempt from criticism, and those who hate hearing something they love being criticized can't take criticism themselves.
