I was natural ALL of my life, 28yrs. No I get a texturizer and I LOVE IT. My hair is down my back, maintenance a breeze, I can get braids if I want. And I don’t care what anyone says, let’s practice focusing on our physical and mental health and not policing peoples hair lol

@@delle3955 When I used to do my daughter's we used S-curl in the blue container and it was perfect. We didn't smooth it out a lot so it wasn't bone straight, it just looked blow-dried. Then we could still flat iron if she wanted really straight or not and it was WAAAYYYYYYY easier to detangle after washing.

The problem is not the styles that are intended to give us a break from doing our natural hair. The problem is calling them protective when most of them cause damage to our hair and edges and aren't protecting a darn thing .But folks can take whatever risks they want with their hair. Sometimes, I go straight-natural even though I know I usually experience some heat damage and dehydration. But I know how to restore my hair back to a healthy state. So, that's what I do. I have always experienced major breakage from extension braids, so I avoid those. But to each her own.
@JennJackson

The way that we execute most styles causes damage but to each its own.
@twinmom6009

@JennJackson I agree. That's why it's misleading to call them protective. lol
@eyekandy3000
@eyekandy3000 2 месяца назад
A Dermatologist I watch refers to them as “convenience styles”. Which is what I call them now too. Unless you’re doing all the things you do to take care of your natural hair and only leave them in for under 6 weeks etc. most of the time they’re quite damaging. And it’s not that your hair won’t grow long but you’re gonna have to cut some inches off because of the damage.
@twinmom6009

@@eyekandy3000That makes perfect sense. That is a much more accurate term than protective styles.

I do protective styles by having my own hair braided in beautiful styles, with no added hair. I’m still able to cleanse, condition and moisturize. We don’t have to ruin our hair, in order to take a break from styling our hair 💜 Ijs💐Peace🙏🏽

Right! now I try to stay away from protective styles because I have fine hair and apparently they’re really bad for me. And then they said that synthetic hair is full of cancer causing agents even if you shampoo or use vinegar. So now I’m supposed to be buying the special kind of synthetic hair or just using human hair. So many rules! sometimes I just close my eyes and do what I want

Also, with your first birth you advocate just being natural without fake hair... it wasnt hard to give birth/have a newborn and take care of your real hair. Now you are saying the opposite????
