Awesome review guys! The info about price and some of the accessories was very helpful! I am planning on picking up one of these within the next few months! Cheers, Nicko!
yeah you're right. If you want to know how it handles you can read that elsewhere and of you want to know what is like to ride you can look on the manufacturer's site. You don't really need anything in the write up. Hell, you can get all the stuff they talk about elsewhere, reading road tests is all a waste of time. Road testers put pressure on manufactures to improve. Lights and reliability is critical to new buys who are real riders who ride day and night for years.
There are a few tingles but yes, it's smoother than many comparable fours. Twins have a throb different from the tingles of multis. The torque is very progressive off the bottom, so it pulls very cleanly and accelerates very hard for what is, these days, a mid-range naked.
Cycle Torque no worries. Something I've often thought about is reliability. it would be good of you could mention that somehow. Evan of it is just by brand. maybe mention that survey done in the states recently. yamaha was the most reliable and HD and BMW not fairing nearly as well. (which matches my experience with yamaha and BMW) . reliability is important to me a i trends to keep bikes for about 100,000km.
These guys test bikes for a couple of days - if you want information about reliability you go and read those surveys you just mentioned. And when in doubt, buy Japanese.
Hey, you can tour on anything if you want to do it badly enough. But most of us like to be able to take more than the bare essentials. For solo touring though a tankbag and seatbag might take enough.
Twin pairs? Honestly it looks better but there are some videos on the 'Tubes that show the light pattern after dark. It's terrible and I doubt there is a way to upgrade or improve it. Probably easier to stick with the pre-17 model for headlight mods.
