Sue.walkerdolls101@gmail.com Wondering if you should unbox your Reproduction Barbie or Even your Vintage Barbie? Let's look at it from a Logical perspective.
Sue, your videos are the best ON RU-vid CONCERNING real vintage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A lot of the other video are really for kids buying cheap , thin plastic dolls!!! WE really appreciate you!
Hi Mrs Sue,I use to buy doubles of dolls one to unbox and one to keep in the box. As you know that can be a little expensive. Unfortunately Hurricane Katrina turned my life and many other ppls lives upside down. I lost 95% of my dolls many of them were boxed I feel a little different now I actually want to hold my dolls and find their original outfits. At the end of the day you should do what you love. Love your channel !!!!
Great video Sue, I always kept them mint in box, however I have been taking them out and enjoying them now because I honestly love playing with my dolls and I don’t buy them to resell but collect and enjoy because we are not promised tomorrow 😉😍❤️🥰💖
I love that pink satin outfit on your American girl! Peaches and cream is one of the most beautiful 80s dolls I think. My collection is 50/50. Sometimes I’ll buy the doll already out of the box because she just costs too much in the box.
Your video illustrates the saying that if you can afford it, buy two dolls-one to keep in the box, the other to play with! Haven’t always been able to do that, but it is good sound advice. I have given into temptation to open most but not all of my repros…even if I get more than one. No willpower! Ha 😅
Lol, it is hard. I have a few reproductions I don’t plan to unbox. Some I get just to unbox. I bought 2 reproduction Superstar Christie. Oh, once I found a bunch at a yard sale$5 ea. I bought all they had.
I will always unbox now as a kid and teenager my mom wouldn't let me unbox the more expensive Barbies she bought me. Long story short, hurricane Katrina wiped out those unboxed Barbies. Meanwhile, my played with Barbies survived, the irony! 🙂
Thanks a lot Sue for the video!💯 I have 1 more reason why to unpack them or not ;) there is still a reason, if it is clear that your doll looks a little different or her head color has changed a little, then you need to unpack it, wash it thoroughly with some kind of product and quickly💦, otherwise this color will spread to other parts of the doll’s body or her hair, and 2 -I am the reason if you have a similar doll, but not calm or vice versa (Sorry for troubles in my English)
Hey Sue , I love your videos. I have always been a barbie lover and collector. I had that ballerina barbie as a child. I have one now, but she's not in the box. She's in good condition though.
Loved that pink outfit on the American Girl ! I have actually started unboxing my dolls as I am out of room and cannot display them in the box. I decided to start doing that this year, as I was not really enjoying many of my dolls. Very few will remain boxed. Most of my vintage dolls I got used, so there wasn't a box anyway.
not sure about the older barbies but one other thing i heard about why opening a 80's or 90's era barbies is because of the hair ties. over time they decaye and some can discolor a doll there was this youtuber Nexjen i think is her name she has two or three channels but there was a polly pocket barbie she opened up that came with polly pocket figures and she explained why keeping the dolls in the box isn't as safe but showed a method on how to clean the dolls without damaging anything except the decaying ties that will be replaced. it was an interesting video and she had a method in making sure the box isn't damaged so when the barbie is placed back inside it's as if she had never been opened.
I saw that. I opened my 70’s quick curl to clean it . Yes sometimes leaving in the box is not good. Like the vintage ones with earrings left in caused major Green ear. 😳
I got an interesting story. how true it is i dont't know but i just watched the movie again and there are possibilities it could be true. Ellen greene (i hope i have the actress name right ) who played Audrey in little shop of horrors, the wedding dress that she wears in the film was allegedly designed from inspiration from a couple of barbie earliest wedding dresses. There are some resemblances i do see but this is just something i had heard.
Thanks for a fun video Sue!! I bought 2 of those Wedding Day Repros in the late 90s when they were new. I thought they were so awesome that I had to buy 2!! One blonde and the other red head like the one you have. When Mini Mod was born in 2005...she started to admire those two...and I made her admire them until she was 9!!! So for her birthday, I let her pick one to open....she picked the red head to open. Like the original...one must be careful with the lace..when MM got it out of the box it put a little rip on the vail. So..unboxers be careful out there. Mattel sewed her train to the box and it is tricky getting it free!! I still have the blonde boxed and she will stay that way...at least for now. I know that the boxing over time can add damage to a Barbie. I think boxing now-a-days is more "doll and doll clothes" friendly taking into consideration that collecters most often DO NOT unbox them. We are going to San Francisco and Disneyland next week! Look for an email snap shot!! We'll be looking for a California Barbie!!! BARBIE OOOONNNNN Malibu Sue!!!!!!!! Mod Girl
Thanks for the heads up on the unboxing of that doll. I will be extra careful. I don’t think Mattel wanted you to unbox the reproductions. Lol have fun at Disney!!!!
I buy the doll in the stores Walmart or Target or yard sales for fun I Iove taking them out to play with them like yesterday I opened my Barbies Pretty Treasures Picnic playset and Wedding playset 1993 and 1996 I paid then $5 for each of them I was in my 20's then I still play with them
For me, I only keep dolls in boxes that I plan to sell right away. Otherwise, I take them out of the boxes. The reason is because all Barbie dolls I have removed from their box always have fading, rotten ponytail bands that crumble and ruined hair from incorrect positioning in the box. Their clothes are stained because sometimes moisture gets in the box or it's too dry or whatever. This is why I don't leave dolls in boxes because I believe they are not mint in box. Many collectors feel differently and that is okay, because it's your doll so your choice. Thanks for the video and your hard work to make them for us.
Hi Sue 😊. I really love your barbie dolls and for me I do unboxs my dolls but this one barbie doll my sister got me for christmas is staying in the box ❤️
I love to unbox my doll, reason why is that I like to enjoy my dolls, dress them pose them ect. But I do still have some in box because of space or they look better in the box 🥳🥰
You are definitely an unboxed.🥰 it does take less room for sure, but I am running out of room anyway. I put the ones I don’t unbox on my bedroom closet shelf.
I'm gonna might rebuy Malibu Barbie I have the reproduction I can't find her since we moved in our new house in 2015 still a lot of my Barbies in card oard boxes
I had to open and save some because the rubber bands dry rotted , the hair needed to be washed , they were going to be ruined . I have the mod set the box is mushed once I move I will open them. I bought them new sever years ago, but they came in the mail mushed
Yes some don’t hold up good in a box, all depends I guess. Those rubber bands dry rot really bad. Mushed box is always a good reason to open. Sorry yours came like that in the mail.
If I happen to find a doll in box somewhere, but the box is damaged, I take it out. I don’t think I’d ever have a reason to pay more for a mint doll just to take it out, though!!
