RIP that spider; gone but now thanks to the internet, never forgotten. Also it's a little uncomfortable having you stare at the camera while you're testing and at the same time not actually talking... Lol.
If you ever need a challenge, I have my old GameCube that my mom forced me to lend to a family member when we got a Wii... and the family member's cat peed on it. It still works, so I haven't had the heart to throw it out. It may have happened over 10 years ago, but I'm still not over it.
I would possibly be interested in that! Can you contact us through the TronicsFix website, and we can communicate further from there? tronicsfix.com/pages/contact
A tip for cleaning controllers. After you've rinsed the rubber membranes off use some IPA on a cue tip to clean the black contacts on there. It really helps with keeping them as responsive as possible. Oh and of course remember to do the same with the contact surfaces on the board but be carefull so that you don't take the material off on those if it's the same style of contact (metal contacts you can rub away at with that cuetip until the cuetip stops coming away with any black stuff). On newer controllers be very carefull with contacts that are on plastic sheets those will just rub off and you'll basicly have to buy a whole new pcb for it (yeah... I managed to clean off a trace like that and had to spend hours trying to superglue a thin strand of copper wire to replace it which was definitely not worth the effort even though it did the trick). We all make mistakes but hopefully that will save someone from repeating one of mine :D Oh and I'm experimenting with car polish compound right now to see if one can use something like magic eraser, then some even finer polishing stuff and finish off with the car polish to get scratches off shiny surfaces do let me know if you have any tips on that end that doesn't require a rotary tool or a polishing wheel :)
Very nice.. you could consider scotch-brite scour pads non scratch scrub pads before magic eraser.. never used paint brush but have used the same dish/cup brushes i already had in kitchen.. depending on the material I like to spread a couple drops of armor all on to make he plastic look new again.. esp Atari 2600 and ColecoVision .. goo gone is also another favourite cleaning tool... whats the nastiest thing you've found in a console? I found a mouse skeleton in an nes.. LOL
Thanks I’ll check those out 🙂 A mouse skeleton! That beats anything I have found. I did a PS5 with a roach infestation a few vids ago. That is tops for me so far.
I kinda wish the magic eraser thing had never taken hold. I don't blame you for cleaning this way but sandpaper should never have entered into cleaning plastic
