Here’s a tip for Linda!! You can spray your terracotta with a clear sealant and it won’t be permeable anymore! I do it to all my new pieces and it works. Thanks for all your good tips!

I became a big boxwood and topiary fan while in college in Williamsburg, Va. I've had two cone-shaped boxwoods next to our front door for years and wrap them lightly with grapevine and little white lights for the holidays. Love to watch you tend to them - it inspires me to go trim mine!

You are totally the reason I love topiaries! Your video series on how to make them led me to Ken Selody's video, which then led to Ken coming to my shop this spring for a pop-up shop. So thank you so much! If you're ever in North Alabama, I'd love to host a book signing at The Cupboard. My customers adore your book as well as the journal.

You inspired me to turn my ratty-looking plants into topiary. My dwarf Alberta Spruce trees, three of seven that survived, are only knee high. They are 10 years old, and I cut them into nicely rounded topiary form. They get to live, and just 'be' what they are. Everyone likes the old guys. Thanks! 😊

I used to enjoy thrifting for home decor, things for the garden, and some clothes, especially for working outside. But unfortunately we don have a thrift store selection in our area and I'll no longer patronize GoodWill as they now cater to people shopping to re-sell. So I've ordered some great things on Temu, especially garden/plant-themed tops to go with loose-fitting sort of cropped pants. They also have some wonderfully comfy shoes of breathable 'fabric"/really good soles that are perfect outdoors

L, regarding your “door to nowhere”, I would remove the door and doorway and cover that area with a trellis or one or two large bushes / trees to completely cover that area so the door opening doesn’t show. If it was my home, I’ld close up that area. Love your plantings and home. 🏡

You can seal your terracotta saucers with the Rust oleum Clear Coat. I’ve used the brush on version to seal saucers on the inside and the water never seeps through. No damage to the table top! Since you want to use them outdoors, and there is some minimal risk of rain penetrating the outside of the saucer, you should probably coat the interior and the exterior completely. The terra-cotta, being porous absorbs quickly, and the drying time is minimal. I love watching your videos. I have learned so much, thank you for all your time and effort. Happy gardening!

I'm so very disappointed with my gardens this year because I am suffering with a back injury that has kep me out of my gardens, and unable to do my daily gardening chores. The deer in my area have deicmated all of my many hostas (many different varieties), lilies (ornamental and stella de oro), and coreopsis. Before I was injured I sprayed deer repellent in my gardens weekly, but since the injury I have been able to walk around and spray. Suffice it to say my gardens have suffered tremendously. My husband tried his best to maintain my gardening duties but I guess it was too much for him to handle. I am heartbroken. Hopefully, I will be able to get back to gardening in the coming weeks, but not to the same degree as I had previously done. On a lighter note: Your pumpkin plant is doing very well, and I love the trellis that it's on. Ihave 2 of the same trellis' in my gardens. Your outfit looks very nice. I like blue and brown mixed together.

Fun video!...I had a couple of myrtle topiaries which were never happy inside. When we went away, they had to sit in water inside and they got some type of fungus. I do have a history of killing indoor plants, so no more for me. On the other hand, after trimming hedges and boxwood balls in the landscape for a few years, I finally got the hang of it. It used to take me half and hour or more to do it, going back and forth to check every view. This year, it finally clicked and I have an easy time of it. Thanks to your recommendation of the Barnel trimmers. Take comfort newbies. It's true. You will get it. I never thought I would.💚

I just do not know what happened. I have had them both for 2 years. So I have really been babying the other one & she is alive and well! I also have a lavender topiary. Mine all also came in the like the pots you have and like. I just need to cut mine a little tighter like you have shown. Your back yard looks fabulous!! P.S., I’m in Ohio zone 6b, and if they get the hot sun they crisp up and dislike. So weird your topiaries like your hot Oklahoma sun.. 💚

I ordered a myrtle communis from Etsy about two months ago. I think it is dead. I have kept it moist, but then just all of a sudden like overnight all the leaves turned brown. My Eugenia topiaries From either Lowe’s Walmart Eugene or Home Depot are thriving out in the Florida bright sunshine For your laurel , I think that odd branch should go. There is a product that you can buy that will seal the inside of those terra-cotta saucers

Hi those topiary balls are everywhere you must like seeing those balls. I would find a couple enough and let the rest grow more natural with bit of a trim on occasions. The idea for orchards did that after last time you showed it at the other house it is a good thing fools most. Love your pants they would look great with a matching top too it is a great look for any season.I have the other type orchards with the thinner longer leaves they should flower here before xmas mean while they have the material flowers in the pots.My very frist orchard was the San Francisco one. has a ivory white background with the pinky purple streacks and speckles in the centre of flower.

Linda…Regards to orchids if kept to rebloom you need to inspect roots , they are probably packed in peat moss and cannot get air as they are air plants..they need orchid pots with holes in sides and bark so they drain when watered and feed as needed..they will love to be out in your backyard in the humidity and rain early morning sun..If you find rotten roots need to cut them off. If left like they are it is possible you will not have any roots left ..

Do you water the Toperaries your showing on a daily basis? I have two 3 ball ones and when I brought them home and repotted them they did nothing First week or then started getting new growth and I was pleased. Then I see them not fat😢ening up but getting some folege dieing off. I water them every 2 to 3 days because I have clay spoil but these are in pots of Mirical grow. They are in this hot Texas sun all afternoon but morning in a lot of light. What would you do to stop getting leafs dropping off ? I got some of those things you stick in pot and they suck up their on water. See no bugs. Would drainage be a problem. Large pots have drainage holes. Just don't know what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions? Maybe dress with pebbles or mix some in pot.?????? TEXAS 9
