It's really fun listening to people in the past discussing news when you, in the present, know how the situation ultimately turned out. Like the "Facebook creepy" thing. I'm sorely disappointed we never got to see a "Let's Deconstruct" video before Yahtzee left Australia. I would have really liked to see him go over SH2 with a fine-tooth brush and pick out all the little details that make it such a classic. For whatever Yahtzee's faults as a reviewer may be, he's very thorough and analytical when it comes to examining games. Whenever he's discussed games as a medium for storytelling in the past, it's usually just been passing asides in ZP reviews. A lengthy video where he's doing that would be right down my alley.

I found out one play through that the monsters can see your light and here your radio. So if you turn them off they won't be attracted to you as much. Though you are a LOT more likely to be blind sided. I'm surprised how well the graphics in this game have aged. Anyway, have a good one.

One use of VR I could see outside of gaming is digital filmmaking. The film Rango was designed as a giant 3D set that lined up with a gymnasium sized studio. The director was able to walk around the studio with a tablet in hand and decide on camera angles by looking through the tablet into the 3D world. VR would be an extension of that.

When you find an abandoned wheelchair in a spooky setting its best to just think that a miracle happened and not "omg i'm in a horror movie/game". You know best case scenario.

I'm not sure what I like more about this show, letsplay videos with intellectual conversation, or the fact this is the only RU-vid channel with videos I can scroll down to the comments on and see people sharing opinions and sharing info rather than youtube's usual fucktarded ape-men mashing misspelt misguidance into their keyboards

There's actually an anime adaptation of Count of Monte Cristo set in the distant future where the count is a space vampire. I shit you not.

The cult in Silent Hill aren't really supposed to be the enemies of the game. They're just the catalyst for ancient powers taking over and haunting the town. There was always a strange unknowable force in the area and when the cult came along and one of its members gave birth to a daughter with psychic powers it was just a recipe for disaster. They didn't create the dark forces. They sort of accidentally harnessed them with Alessa's power It sort of reminds me of my favorite line from the show True Blood. In the first season one of the characters hires a witch doctor to perform an exorcism on her because she's convinced that the reason she is miserable is because she's possessed by a demon. She later on finds out that the witch doctor was a charlatan. And then at the end of the first season a strange woman shows up in town who then goes on to use strange mystic powers to brainwash everyone in town and turn them into violent hedonists. She reveals herself as a maenad and states that the witch doctor was the one who summoned her during the exorcism. This prompts the character who underwent the exorcism to ask if the witch doctor actually had powers and the maenad responds "Unfortunately no. But you can't play around with that kind of ritual and raw power and not expect anything to happen". I think that line perfectly describes what happened in Silent Hill.

I also hate it when they shoehorn in a completely unprecedented and unnecessary romance into a story. *Coughs* Six Days a Sacrifice *Coughs*

This game aged surprisingly well. Holy shit. And I haven't even seen anything from it until now, since I first played it in 1999. And I despise about 95% of video games. But then you get gems like this.

Big talk from Notch calling Facebook creepy when he sold his own baby to Microsoft that same year.

The Japanese "grey children" enemies were replaced with green lizard children in America, then removed from the European release of the game. The children enemies were removed because we had a school shooting in recent memory at the time Silent Hill was being localised, so they changed the enemies to something less of a sore spot. The children enemies still show up in the European game, albeit untextured. They attack you during the "Nowhere" section.

I came to hear a long dialogue on Yahtzee's feelings on Silent Hill and left with the knowledge that he and his friends have the same hollow and arm chair conversations as my uninteresting friends.

Stephen King is an interesting case. All of his books are well-written, but not all of them are great and memorable. You (royal "you") should try the Dark Tower series.

Well I quite liked Jazz despite all the people who hated it.

The _original_ Survival Horror game was, of course, Alone in the Dark. Released in '92. It was just like Resident Evil, just not so ludicrously Japanese.

I was very excited to hear you guys reference Red Dwarf :) I grew up watching that T.V series. I can imagine Yahtzee recreating the scene with Rimmer wearing the gingham dress with Mr Flibble saying "We couldn't do that. Who'd clean up the mess?"

Ugh, how did I just _know_ Cliffy B was gonna defend Facebook before I had even heard he commented about it? If you like Gears of War, that's fine, but Cliffy B is a fucking corporate tool. SH3 is definitely my favourite out of the three. The story, atmosphere and game design all being the best the series has to other. I particularly like the art choices and the dark theme.

The voice actress who played Mary and Maria was the only good voice work from Silent Hill 2 although they are still fairly inconsistent. The Letter at the end of the game is masterfully acted though.

Alexander Dumas was indeed black. Very common for people to be surprised by that, they even reference it in a Tarantino flick.

Silent Hill 3 is my favorite, i care about Heather deeply and her story was the most interesting. James' story is strangely "feel good" to me, the town leads him around teaching him a lesson and in one of the endings he gets to go home happily.... i feel like that betrays the whole idea of silent hill.

I'd rather define myself by my hobbies than my job title. People do both but one is a trudging activity you do purely for money - the other is pleasurable and done because you enjoy it. I choose the positive one.

58:02 Pompeii was one of those movies you gents are talking about. It was a decent movie about two gladiators who become friends, and try to escape the fiery hell that is a volcanic eruption. They haphazardly added in some "Romeo and Juliet" romance plot which fucked up the whole movie. I was actually angry that they added romance in this movie, since the friendship between the main character and gladiator was more developed than the main character and his lady friend. They basically ruined a half-decent movie, and turned it into some half-baked, shitty Romeo and Juliet story.

My Silent Hill list in order of how much I liked them: 3, 2, 4, 1. Because Heather > James > Harry
