I definitely agree, and you're right about Shiny Happy People. It's a good uplifting song. ("What's wrong with thaaaaat, I'd like to know?"!, to quote a well known songwriter also on your shelves) 😊👍👍🙂 ... 🎸 why no Bass guitar emoji on here?!

The original Queen Greatest Hits was on one LP, it only became a double LP in 2016, so the Gatefold became part of that then.

Thanks for the info. It does feel like an album that doesn't really need to be a double, but if it gives those grooves more room to breathe then fair enough!

I played my original copy yesterday and it’s sounds so dull compared to the 2016 version. I agree, best GH of all time and, GH-2 second? Great video Sir 😎

Hi Andrew , many thanks for introducing me to Public service broadcasting , I haven’t got any Albums of There’s yet but I might get there vinyls eventually , but I have listened to them on Spotify . Now the original Queen’s Greatest Hits on vinyl was not a double Album & was not issued in a gatefold sleeve .

Hi there, Andrew. Great video. The Bends and OK Computer are two masterpieces. Among my 20 favourite albums of all time, for sure. You mentioned a day that saw the release of two great albums: how about the 22nd of November, 1968? The White Album by The Beatles and The Village Green Preservation Society by The Kinks. How great that is! Of course, one crushed the other commercially, but both are legendary.

Good selection and agree with your Radiohead comments. Love The Bends! Can confirm the original Queen Greatest Hits was not a gatefold. The inner pocket containing the vinyl listed each track with a picture of its host album and a short history of the track. Great album though.

Hey Andrew, great show as always.... did you ever pick up Falco 3 (1985) which had the Rock Me Amadeus track on it? I picked it up when it came out and still listen to it as a long player to this day......A random purchase which is still a gem i can highly recommend! Peace and Love.

Agree with The Bends and Ok Computer. The Bends feels like a greatest hits album, but Ok Computer is the more interesting album; really takes you on a journey.

Simply loving all those records you featured on this video. PSB I'm going to have to track down and give a listen to, sounds like they are pursuing a similar sound to Matt Berry on his more recent albums. Queen's Greatest Hits is the greatest compilation and in my book The only other Comps that come close are the Red and the Blue albums. I remember OK Computer being a massive album back in the day, I bought that on CD and couldn't stop playing it, I think one critic in the music press described it at the time as their Sgt Pepper (high praise indeed) I just love all that REM ever did. I just wonder, we may have been at the same gig of theirs. I saw them mid nineties at Milton Keynes Bowl when Blur were the support act. Great gig, just a shame about the sound, as the Milton Keynes bowl was a dreadful venue for acoustics. Looking forward to the final instalment Andrew. If I were a betting man I'd say the genre is going to be either Jazz or classical.

The REM gig I was at was at Huddersfield's football stadium, just googled it and can see it was just 5 days before the Milton Keynes gig 👍 We had The Beautiful South supporting, which wasn't announced im advance, but the massive rumour swirling around the venue was that it was going to be Oasis!

If you enjoy good classic psychedelic rock that ROCKS with lots of blues, folk, prog and jazz influences I cannot recommend enough King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard! Only been around for 12 years and have released about 25 albums. A good starting point could be I’m In Your Mind Fuzz or Nonagon Infinity

@@AndrewDixonMusic I don't doubt that.... just surprised you've not got it on vinyl. Greatest Hits 1 seems like an incomplete set without it. And no.... I'm not including Greatest Hits 3... that sucked. Not the Queen songs but all the filler.

I have a reissue of the Queen Greatest Hits on red vinyl. It sounds pretty good. I also have a copy of Greatest Hits II however which sounds absolutely awful- worst pressing of an album I have. I stupidly bought it twice thinking the second copy would be better, but not the case.

I've got all of Phil Collins albums on CD but none on vinyl. I will definitely get Face Value on vinyl at some point though. I like quite a few Genesis songs but I think the only thing of theirs I ever bought was the CD single of Jesus He Knows Me back in the early 90s.

No but the real Genesis. Selling England by the Pound, Foxtrot or a little later with Wind and Wuthering and A Trick of the Tail. Try their concept album Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. But another good start is one of my fave live albums by Genesis is Seconds Out where Phil Collins sings some Gabriel Genesis and songs Collins first two albums with Genesis.

Yeah, with you re The Bends being a perfect album. Since OK Computer, for me The Seldon Seen Kid by Elbow, Pale Green Ghosts by John Grant and Absolution by Muse come close re being just as good, if not better.

REM .. fav is Eponymous, next is Murmur. Great band. Only like 6 songs by the RHCP, would like them more without the funk. Only like 3 songs by Queen. I like almost no songs by Radiohead. Yeah I lose everyone on not liking Radiohead and I like their influences just not their sound.

I seem to have very similar music taste to you, Andrew. But Christ, I hate Queen! As for albums since 1997, I think Arcade Fire’s “Funeral” rivals “OK Computer” and is arguably better. I also think “In Rainbows” is better than “OK Computer”.

The only song I know well by Arcade Fire is Antichrist Television Blues, which is a weird song for me as the melody is extremely similar to a song called The Pictures On The Wall that me and a friend wrote about 10 years earlier!
