Really looking forward to the work being done on this. I don't think any car from the 70's was meant to last hence the aftermarket in undersealing. So much is known about the Stag now with a great support network. Even the engine faults have been resolved, whoever signed off having the water pump at the top of the engine.... Then a seal on the underside of the pump vane, that if no antifreeze was used (common problem) meant the vane became rough and took out the seal. If you were lucky the weeks before you noticed a drip or level drop, if you didn't pump ran dry, no water flow, overheated fast. Again easy mod to an external pump mounted low down. But for all these challenges, I smile every time I use it, and that V8 fires up. 😃

I had one 30 years ago. I replaced all the front panels due to rust. When I got to the back I found the structure underneath was beyond repair. You need to check underneath thoroughly before going any further. Great cars though 👍

Nice stag that. It would not take much to fit new arches and sills od plating here and there . The yellow doesn't suite the stag. A nice racing green or some nicer color. Nice car mate

I had a few triumph stags back in the UK. Loved the sound of the twin dolomite engine. But a beautiful car had many miles in mine keep the video coming cheers

I've never seen so much rust on a car. It looks like someone parked it up on the seafront and then left it there for a year.

Looks like there's a hell of a lot of steel worm in that Stag . I had a '77 for a few years ('79 to 83 ) By far the nicest car I ever had . Looking forward to seeing how the restoration goes . I hope you've got deep pockets .

Theres probably a lot more rust you cant see. The floors the cross members the front chassis rails all need really good inspection.

Oh I know! The mx5’s now out the garage soo this Saturday, I’m taking a angle grinder to all the panels to see what’s lurking underneath! I’ve also found some full floor pans in the boot so I’ll definitely be changing those too!

@@Boothsmotors mine looked ok. Was nowhere near as bad as yours around the front lights...the rest..almost identical. I got lucky in that the chassis rails were all solid. The rear spring mounts were solid but the top shock absorber mounts in the body crack from stress rather than corrosion.

@@neiljohnson1773 I was told when I bought the car that ‘it’s pretty solid underneath…. But… it’s gone under the soft top where the back suspension goes up’ I’m not worried I love welding!
