The Decorations Patch was supposed to fix homelessness; however, it looks like I drew the short end of the stick with Magnolia County and things will take a bit of extra work. In this stream, we'll do what it takes to solve homelessness, including modifying transit, fixing services that need fixing (in particular deathcare and elementary coverage) and maybe we'll even name a few things while we're waiting for the homeless folks to leave town. Stream will go on until the build is fixed! I can't record the new couple of episodes without this stream!
If you're not into streams, I'll be sure to summarize what we did in the next episode.

Homeless shelters and Food Banks should be added to the game or something similar along with new Policy to handle the homelessness

Since they already occupy the parks the devs could just add some basketballs and tennis rackets into the game so that they actually get used but that would require the devs to make the proper animations. I guess it was easier for them to code in the homeless mechanic and make the prop tents and burn barrels and just have them standing around. So many random things in this game are beyond perplexing and seem entirely contrived and needlessly complicated.

I agree. And it ought to be several options for the policies. And include there being homeless even when housing is abundant. And having housing-first policies, or having the cops kick out the homeless from parks and taking all their stuff, etc. Different cities do things differently.

I agree, if the game doesnt include features to handle homelessness like shelters and policies then whats the point.

Mail is definitely broken. Try building two sorting facilities - the second one won't work. Even with huge fleets of vans available they won't send out vans.

I have over a few thousand citizens homeless according to the cim census mod. I only had it drop by a thousand when i checked “disable homeless” in the developer menu. I just got some high residential demand today, so i guess something IS working, just CO needs to tweak and/or disable more flags and parameters related to the homeless mechanic

I would love to see dlc revolve around era’s, or maybe like small town assets, then larger city assets packs. Or, even around architectural styles.

What you said about the bench and the sitting not feeling alive us less people use it, that hit me in the feels. That is what I want. I also want the homeless gone. Bike and assets would help too. I also still feel schools are out of alignment. Too many elementary schools needed too close together.

Loved the stream, and yes, 1.1.8F1 does nothing to the hoeless problem. Mail was killing my city and out of desperation I put in the Sorting Facility. It did NOTHING, apparently because ??I had two cargo train stations. Turning the stations off did not help. I had to delete the cargo train staions before the sorting facility at leaast sent out a truck. So a long standing bug persists, disturbing because it iis huge. Sadly either CO has not meaningful testing or they work in a sandbox of their own making that is too polluted to be representative of normal game play or..... Enjoy the trip! Don't forget to ask why the train yard passtrough line is broken too!! Love your work Phil!!that

(1) I wish I knew what the welfare office actually does ... (2) Playing for a few hours last night with a 100% vanilla build I started in January (the homelessness mod has been the only mod I'm using, but it's inactive because of the patch) ... I think what may be happening is that cims who become homeless through a mechanic of the game exit the city or find new jobs/homes like they should. Cims made homeless by the player demoing a building still seem to be getting stuck. Last night, not realizing the mod was in temporary hiatus, I started infilling a central park in one of my medium density residential zones. Lots of those cims made homeless by my demolition of residential buildings to make way for the botanic garden appear to be still standing on the sides of the streets. At the same time I do also have significant numbers of homeless cims departing the city through rail (the only passenger transit connection)... I have all mass transit set to $0 ticket price. A tangential observation is that I'm not seeing any rise in crime, criminals, unemployment in this build ... so far ... A lesson learned might be that the game now incorporates a strong incentive to resist demoing entire neighborhoods in order to make way for something "better". ;) s/ (3) the grunts and sighs and squeaks that cims make when I click on them really creeps me out.

The welfare office asset is kinda ridiculous. It is way too big and fancy of an asset. Most welfare/government service centers are street level store front type of uses. It would be cool if you could designate space in a mixed use building to be a welfare office.

i have ran thsi game on multiple machines i have two similira aged ones i have an i7 7700k with a 1080 and a ryzen 5 3600 with a 1080 , simulation stops around 100k pop on the ryzen 5 and around 300k on the i7 , u can get 7700k and a 1080 for close to 200$ and run this game perfectly until u can afford to upgrade as long as ur running at 1080p and i run it at med-high settings

Whatever you do don’t start a new city. I don’t know if I’m doing something crazy but my last save file was well terrible so I decided instead of fixing it just starting new. Terrible idea!!! Either we’re only supposed to grow 1000/day or idk what current city just started 15 minutes ago 1000 population 0% unemployed 5000 jobs open. Land value is it 0 no matter how many services and parks the value doesn’t change (modded playset)

Why release a patch and say it fixes the issue when it just…doesn’t? It also makes the one thing that made the game playable, bye bye homeless, disabled for now. Basically shelves my save immediately.
