Thanks for the fantastic & transparent review, Alex! Is there a difference between the Kyoto deck vs. the Tokyo deck other for certain scoring conditions?
Thanks a lot for the balanced review. It’s hard to find such transparency for yet-to-be-released games. Every other (paid) review tends to always sing the praises of each and every game, so it’s refreshing to have you mention the things you don’t like so much. Cheers!
In my multiple playthroughs, the walks were an important part to try to finish the daily highlights.A random chance. In my experience the passed cards are often sabatoge from the other players, walks had to be there to give the end game a chance from the possibly unlucky draws or passes.
I personally love Japan, and the theme is what is attracting me to this game a lot. Also the attention Josh W. dedicated to create this game has blown me away. With Japanese artist being involved with the illustration, to the phonics of the locations on the detailed cards. It is a bit light for me, but I am mainly pulled in by the charm of the game, and the passion for Japan.
Played this at Dice Tower West - great art, super thematic, and has interesting enough decisions to balance all the different types of things to do / day bonuses / travel / happiness
I was looking forward to this one. Thematically just up my ally and I was looking for a lighter title for a change. But then in the kickstarter I find out that AEG won’t shop to my country so it was a bust.
