Storm Reid was so captivating as Riley as her performance; especially near the end, made my heart sank for her & Ellie. That’s what I’m liking about the show so far is that the guest performance’s are the real stars - besides Pedro & Bella - because they provoke so much emotion and character to their stories. Loving the show so far & undoubtedly, the best live-action adaptation of a videogame I’ve seen!
I completely agree. Although I think we might get Riley (Storm Reid) potentially in another episode whether it is 8 or 9. I think when she reaches the end we will see Ellie has to make a decision. From what has been implied it was Ellie who made that decision. I think they may use Riley & Joel's seemingly dire situations (which feel like end is near) to compare & contrast how Ellie handles it now vs then.
5:33. Ellie does have a point: The FEDRA in Kansas City got wiped out by Kathleen's militia, & 2 weeks later a horde takes out most of the militia then makes its way to the city with almost no one left to defend it.
Baraka and Mileena in MK II are lovers that both Ellie and Riley chose to fight as at the arcade. Whether the creators knew it or not, their gameplay did showcase a grim foreshadowing.
Finally another HIMYM fan lmao! Robin Sparkles ftw. Just like Bill and Frank, the chemistry between El and Riley was brilliantly realized here. Another heartwarming and eventually heartbreaking episode. 🥲😩 2 more left to go.
I loved how both these last two episodes connect at the very end, and how we got a whole story in between those two ending moments, such good story editing🙌🏼🙌🏼
It was a nice touch for the carousel song to be The Cure"s "Just Like Heaven". Imagine the royalty fee the carousel maker had to pay for that song. Robert Smith got a check for $5.25 every time someone took a ride on it. lol Also, I know it's a trope in shows, but simply sewing or stitching a wound up doesn't solve a problem that will be fatal unless dealt with: internal bleeding. You're still bleeding out, it's just the blood is staying in your body cavity (where it doesn't belong). Another is a septic infection. Nick an intestine and you're on the road to slow painful death.
Between the heartwarming cute moments showcasing Ellie and Riley finally being able to act like kids again for once, if only for a little while...... only to rip it all away again for the seventh time in a row (damn you, show), this never ending River of tragedy that follows Ellie is emblematic of not just the shows central theme but why Ellie continues to fight, to carry on. It showcases her and Riley on opposite sides of an ideological, real and tribalistic conflict before they lay down their arms and come together to just be close for a little while because they're each others purpose in this moment; a fascinating parallel to the Bill and Frank love story and why it matters greatly when Ellie continues to lose and lose. And now that she does have someone who looks after her, who she can depend on, who matters to them, she’ll be damned if she loses them again. For Riley’s sake and everyone else who died, Ellie will finish this journey……even if it kills her.
I checked Twitter and it’s an extremely divided mess like always I liked this episode I never played the game so this backstory really helped me know Her background
It was definitely the weakest episode so far, but not bad by any means, and it's definitely not terrible like some people are saying. I feel like the people who keep calling this show boring don't realize that this show isn't just supposed to be a action packed gore fest, it's about the characters.
Haters gonna hate. No one said shit about how Joel gave liquor to a minor last episode...let Sarah take some money from her dad to fix his watch as a present for him and she's a terrible character. Of course, behind their fake outrage we can see they're not having quarrels with the content based on any sort of moral values. It's soley insecurity being acting upon.
Its not that its a bad episode itself, but it spent 97% of the episode in unrelated flashback and left the story in nearly the exact same position it started in.
Granted, Cobra Arcade and PPP are in Tucson AND Phoenix, so we have a 50/50 shot of being in the same town! I would say check our vlogs to see where we live, however we film vlogs in both cities! 😆 Here's a clue.... It's Tucson.
*The Last of Us* Episodes Ranked (so far) 1. 1x01: "When You're Lost in the Darkness" 2. 1x07: "Left Behind" 3. 1x05: "Endure and Survive" 4. 1x03: "Long, Long Time" 5. 1x06: "Kin" 6. 1x02: "Infected" 7. 1x04: "Please Hold to My Hand"
Episode 7 is last place, imo. Great guest star. Who out shone Bella in the emotional scenes. Well actually all the scenes. I don't think Bella knows how to act vulnerable. She's only has 2 modes: foul mouth tough girl and anger.
@@phoenixrising8231I would have to disagree completely imo. Bella has really nailed Ellies character, and has portrayed tons of other emotions then just those two. She's been vulnerable in plenty of parts. Plus, the loud mouth and sarcastic responses are core parts of her character. She tries to act tough on the outside, but inside she's still a scared kid, and I think the show has shown that perfectly
guys I really want to thank you for not going way too deep in what happens in the game even tho you've played, every other reaction out there is from some stupid nerd who can't restrain himself from talking way too much about what happens in the game and making unnecessary comparisons, your videos I can just watch and enjoy without worrying about what you're going to say
She was referring to killing somebody she killed Riley she said it was not the first time referring to it's not the first time shooting someone in episode 4
When I watched this I realized that I wasn't a normal teenager when I was younger. I thought about things pretty similar to how I do now in how I wouldn't have been keeping up as much noise as they were without checking the whole place to be sure there weren't any infected there. I cared more about not dying than living it up. Yeah, some might say I didn't truly live when I was young, but at least I'm still alive to talk about it and enjoy the things I didn't enjoy back then. I'd have a really good chance at surviving this world cause I don't take unnecessary risks, but I will do just about anything to not die in a way that is not my choice. Enjoyed the reaction and until next time 👍👍✌ out. (Spoiler Warning) I enjoyed the episode, but the only issue I had is that they didn't handle the incident scene with Elle and Riley more effectively. Namely how the bites happened. They showed Elle's arm both times in the only instances where her bite could've happened. One where they were first knocked to the floor and then when Ellen was knocked into the clothes racks. Both times they show her arm where the bite would be after the scene and it wasn't there. It just was all of a sudden there. That's the first goof that was made in the show that I noticed.
That opening was worth the price of admission. I think I liked it more that the episode. Ellie and her buddy were so irresponsible. But at least we got to hear one of Pearl Jam's finest tunes.
Teenagers gonna be teenager so I can't really blame them for acting like this. Especially since Riley and Fireflies didn't find that one infected and thought it to be relatively safe
My two cents as a gamer who loves both games. Awesome series! Better than most of the other video game adaptations we've had. Didn't like pedro and bella at first, but they grew on me especially Bella. I know Pedro's skills from GOT, Mando and Narcos. I only knew Bella as Lady Mormont. She is a great Ellie, not perfect, but still amazing. I'd rather have a great actress like her, than someone who looks like Ellie but sucks at acting. My only nitpicks are the lack of action and infected interactions. I understand that at its core TLOU is Joel and Ellie's bond throughout their journey, but I feel like a few more infected action sequences would have benefitted the show. Also maybe doing the original 10 episodes or longer runtimes. Other than that, awesome show! Best video game series adaptation we've had compared to MK, Halo and the rest
I can't seem to care about Ellie in the show like I did in the game. In the game Ellie was spunky, but lovable. Tough, but innocent. She had hope. In the show, she just seems to be an emo A-hole 99% of the time. She seems like the Ellie in TLOU 2, who is a total D-bag. I cared way more about Dina in 2 (who was similar to young Ellie).
My first and only negative about the show. Bella cant carry the show by herself. She only has 2 emotions she can display: anger and tough foul mouth girl. The Riley' actress out shone her and carried their scenes. It's should of been Ellie's face shown when they decided on Option 2. Since she has to do something & is going to be the survivor. I bet they had takes with Ellie's being prominent. But it didn't work. I feel season 2 is not going to go so well after a certain point. Unless they have a strong supporting cast surrounding Bella. She has to let her guard down to allow herself to be vulnerable. Shedding a few tears isn't showing one' vulnerablity. That's acting 101. Pedro, give Bella some pointers. This is the only episode I would grade a C.
How many times are you pleb types going to regurgitate the same material? It's been happening for years. We get it. You're not going to like season 2. You gonna live in that disdain and endure the episodes over and over simply to survive by posting negative rants for EVERYONE, and you are trying to make sure EVERYONE sees...to have to fucking suffer through? What's it do for ya? Do you think this shit's real? Half of the people just move on and the other half is split 70/30 with the latter being your like button factory, whilst the other 70 percent actually engaging in some capacity. Yet, you will stop at nothing to avoid living that way. I don't know what's eatin ya, but I hope you manage to defeat it.
She displayed more emotions than that just in the section of this video I was watching before I saw this comment. It's kind of a weird complaint bc it's visibly, objectively false and I'm honestly not even sure where that perception could come from. You could fault the script or the directing if the character of Ellie only had scenes where they are portrayed as angry or sullen, but that is very obviously not the case on this show or even in this episode, those are just two fairly common traits of teenage characters. Ellie is portrayed as a smart-ass who puts on a show of being tough but is in no sense only those things, nor has the character been portrayed only as that, nor has the actress had any trouble portraying a range of other emotions when the material calls for it. If someone wanted to say "Storm Reid really shined as Riley in this episode" that would be a whole different thing that is both true and also something positive instead of trying to pull something negative out of it.
I feel that Bella, especially after this episode, has shown far more range than Pedro - not at all because she's a better actor, but because her character demands more range at this point. Shes demonstrated silliness, playfulness, sass, spite, sadness, shock, anger, rage, hopelessness, hope and despair. Pedro is more subtle and nuanced, but mostly because Joel is a more guarded person. He's a great actor, but save for a couple of key emotional moments, has mostly played the dour old curmudgeon. I wasn't sure whether Bella could carry the show as the lead, but after this episode I reckon she can. However, I do think the writers will soften her character a bit for season 2 (compared to the game) because I dont see Bella as the "vengeful rambo" version of Ellie from part 2 - mostly because I don't think they'll have the 5 year time jump from the game that Ellie matures through.
