Most animes are based on mangas, and rarely are they original from the animation studio. If a manga gains notoriety enough, they are likely to get an anime. But the quality of production depends on many factors such as budget, schedule, staff, etc. The team working on this anime views it as a passion project and have stuck to it for years. That's often a key with good anime adaptations; the staff putting their heart on it because they love the original story.
Sure, I get that. It was more about my surprise since I don't remember seeing the manga anywhere. And perhaps because I've watched a lot of 'originals' lately. Though those are usually on the shorter side, right?
Vinland saga adapts the grænlendinga saga a story about a viking exploration of North America. It potrais the real events well, at the same time reimagining the main character backstory. This anime conveys a very powerful message as we go on a journey of self exploration with the protagonist.
Ah, that's how it's called. I got confused with one article I've read like two weeks ago where they called it Vinland. But hey, at least I wasn't that far off
You definitely have to watch this anime fully to understand just how great it is, cuz the reason why its so great does not lie in openings or endings. (Just like in many other series)
Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga were both animated by Wit studio but for their later season (Season 4 for AoT and Season 2 for Vland Saga) Mappa too it over
The story of between what it means to die as a warrior and live as a warrior is unbelievably amazing. So many deep human emotions, yet reason why most enjoy. This recent arc is what I’ve waiting for because, well, huge character development n all
@@fandomsearcher Yup! Although, in Vinland Saga's case, it's not MAPPA animating Season 2, it's the same staff from Season 1, but MAPPA is funding the project, where's in AoT, MAPPA is actually animating Season 4.
This anime is a masterpiece. Though it depends if you prefer this kind of story. If you mostly watch shonen and expect this show be very hype and have a lot of fights then you may be disappointed(there are plenty fights in season 1 though, but just the overall theme and focus of the show is not on fights at all). Vinland saga is a seinen series, it is very mature and I would say philosophical and also very much character driven. It represents many philosophical topics and is very deep. So if you are into more action-based fast paced stories, I would say this one is not of those. In my opinion it takes it's time to represent all it's important themes, but it does do so wonderfully, it might be one of my favorite series I've ever watched, I find it so moving.
I haven't watched that much anime yet to fully know my preferences, though I'd say the only ones I don't like are romance (which goes for every media) and isekai. So I don't think I'll have trouble liking this one
The historical backdrop the story is imbedded in is shockingly accurate to our current historiography. Like many "historical novel" type stories many characters are completely invented as well as many of the details are imagined/added, however all the important people, places, and battles did exist/happen. It is especially nice, since it not only tries to be "historically accurate", but also emulates the often exaggerated style of Norse sagas, with important characters performing superhuman feats, often found in the stories of the time. In a way it is the perfect adaptation of Norse sagas, as it is just the right amount of accuracy and fantasy.
what most people dont know is.... THE ANIME IS BASED ON THE MANGA.... but... THE MANGA IS LOOSELY BASED ON AN IN REAL LIFE TEXT dugged up from about 1000 years ago.
