Sam has being doing a certain renovation in his spare time. It's getting close to done, so he called us in to install a floating floor.
I've done a couple for myself, whereas James and Sam weren't as familiar with them, so I was the lead on this one.
The process was pretty straightforward. We figured out where we wanted the floor to transition to carpet, and laid our underlay from there. For such a large area, it was good to staple it down, by its not required.
We undercut all the kitchen cabinets, architraves and door jambs, but fortunately we didn't have skirtings to contend with.
By the end on say one, we had most of the main area done.
James was away for a couple of days, so I did the rest myself. I realised early in the day I was going to be short some flooring, so Sam picked me up some more, as well as the trim.
Sorting out the trim for the transition to the living room was a bit tricky, but I think the way I did it will look the best. Instead of linih up the transition with the wall, I lined it up with the yet-to-be installed skirting. That means there will be a nice straight line for the trim and carpet.
I also cut and installed the kickboards under the kitchen cabinets, but didn't include that footage.
The next day I did the bathroom. I knew cutting around the shower was going to be a challenge, so I picked up a contour gauge on the way to work. Although it was too small for the job, it was still much better than nothing.
I finished before lunch and headed back up to Port Hills Rd to carry on the foundation work from last episode.
