I will say, having Pyro locks on two of the best consistency cards in the deck does hurt quite a bit, just because Pyro is severely lacking in utility Extra Deck cards. If we had other good options than just the Fusions and Banshee this would be so much less of an issue than it was. And you know, obviously Snake-Eyes, also a Pyro deck, has no restrictions anywhere and can do whatever it wants with whatever it has access to. The ideal Turn 1 combo is similar to what you presented, but another direction is to get Extinguishing off the Priestess instead of Rekindling, Extinguishing to get another Ashened so you can fuse into Embers (or instead get Veidos back for follow-up if you already have the other material), get back Obsidim with Embers for next turn too. And now you have the full setup for the big Veidos fusion and follow up for next turn. And you can send the continuous trap for the fusion's ghost ogre eff, turn them into Pyros on their turn for any Super Poly plays Which isnt bad, none of this really is, but another problem is that Awakening is your only true 1 card starter and there's no way to search it
"Go against the solo mode." Nah, I will annoy my opponent as I stare at my hand for a deck Ive never played before and figure out what I can do. Thats my ninja way!
kritter is probably the type of summon that you see and get annoey that you couldn't just summon the epic dragon to just realize that for no reason this tiny cow has unreasonably high stats
I think the key, is to get the field spell on the opponent's field so it activates the pyro switch on their turn when going first. The issue is that requires a card that isn't searchable, or another card that isn't searchable like set rotation and hope the opponent activates the field spell. And considering only one protects the field spell from being activated over (not being used for cost for other cards and whatnot), the deck works well as long as the opponent doesn't just use the cards to their advantage. This deck would be ok pre-link, but its hard to justify leaving your entire interaction being viable up to your opponent not doing the most optimal thing with Veidos for them and just letting it sit there until you want to activate it. At best, its decent anti Snake-Eyes, assuming you get the trap and your opponent lets you fusion away the ash and poplar before they use it to get a flamberge by using the Veidos and Ash.
An interesting quirk about Veidos I noticed is that the destruction effect is *not* mandatory, so even if your opponent tries to use Veidos as material or something you still have full control over the field nuke effect. The elephants in the room regarding this would be the "Dark Pyro" lock and the fact that you still have control over the nuke in your GY so effects that trigger on "Opponents Card" activations won't work, yet I love the whole concept of giving your opponent highly explosive ordinance that they'd have to dance around
Tenpai player here. I would LOVE having that veidos on my field. Tenpai does do links quite well, there are no synchro locks, and if i have my field spell, my monsters would be unaffected by his boardwipe effect, so it would nuke the opponent only. I have wonderful dreams about opponents giving me this card. So yeah. Hope that helps.
This deck being mid is thematic. Playing against the lovecraftian monstrosity that is snake eyes with Ashened is like playing Dark Souls in a challenge run without any equipment.
I run ashened kaiju with Metaltronus, jizikiru get cydra nova for infinity, gama gets nash knight for c nash, for c 107 neo, for full armor, and veidos gets codebreaker virus berserker for an easy accesscode. Im sure its not optimal but there is still enough extra deck space for garura, mudragon, and 2 embers and 2 fusion veidos. It can also just be a solid negate for dark decks or whatever you happen to have a target for, cuz any dark deck becomes dark pyro, which means you can metaltronus for veidos or embers, but the value is in the permanent, sometimes unrespondable negate.
That first Fusion has the protection effect I wish Lady Labrynth of the Silver Castle had, where it's blanket immune to destruction but only immune to opponent's targeted effects. Lady is immune to only your opponent's destruction effects, so your own Torrential Tribute blows her up.
A guy at my locals plays this deck, but wit ha Snake-Eyes engine, a Horus engine, a Volcanic package, and a Blaze Fenix into Zealantis extra deck package. Proxy F Magician for a fusion. we wnt multiple minutes past time in a game two in his first main phase. I was up a game, and had 8k lp, he was at 2k lp. Time was called, then he proceeds to sit and stumble, solving a puzzle to craft the line to burn me for lethal.
Definitely the worst matchup is summoning Veidos on a Generaider player. "Why thank you for that free level nine that I can use to start my combos with." Doesn't even go to the graveyard since you can use it as xyz material
You can cheat the Gaia Prominence with fusion armament btw joe. Also if you play a one of, of agnimal candle, you'd also be able to make the syncro legit too. Also, 2 Volcanic emperor and 1 or 2 of Volcanic Emission is nice too (could just a 1 of since you can search Emperor with Banshee). Can also make Garunix with Embers of the Ashened and King, which would be pretty easy to get into if needed.
Technicaly Awakening of Veidos can be searched, with Left Arm offering that is lmao. It really sucks how the dark souls archetype ended up being so meh, the artwork is so good as well, i'll still probably build it when it comes to MD, but that will depend on whatelse it's released with.
My question is what Ashened would need to be really good, there's potential but it's not there yet. We need more Pyros but I mean within the means of Ashened
I was thinking up of cards that can help the deck not sure if these will change anything I mainly did this for fun don't take it too seriously The Flame of the Ashened link-1 2000 atk 1 ashened monster When this card is link summoned activate obsidim the ashened city from your deck If this card is used as fusion material add a ashened spell/trap from your deck to hand if your opponent controls a monster with 2800 or more atk add a ashened monster from your deck to hand You can only activate each effect one per turn Follower of Veidos lv4 pyro Can special summon this card by banishing a ashened card from your field, gy or hand can only special summon this way once per turn When normal or special summoned add a 'veidos' card from your deck to hand If this card is destroyed add a banished ashened card to your hand you can only activate this once per turn Martyr of veidos lvl 8 dark pyro Can special summon this card once per turn if an ashened monster was sent sent to the graveyard Once per turn send an 'ashened' or 'veidos' card from your deck to your gy add Veidos the eruption dragon of extinction to your hand If this card is destroyed special summon or add a ashened card form your hand to graveyard The spread of veidos's destruction Continuous Spell When a level 9 or higher "veidos" monster activates its effect activate one of these effects once per turn 1) Banish a card from your opponents gy 2) Banish a random card from the top three cards of the oppenents deck face down The Influence of Veidos Quick-play spell If two or more ashened cards are in your gy or banished make 1 face up monster your opponent controls a dark pyro until the end of this turn you can only activate this effect once per turn
But you play it a bit different. You start with awaikaning and then veidos and pop fieldspell. And then you summon king then priest and then you search rekindling, idk the name i switch they often😅, activate it mill veidos add veidos and then ban the catd to fusion into embers and then add field to hand and then activate fieldspell. Then you have your comeback next turn. I mean you can add quick spell in your opponents turn.
Id say its pretty mid so far. The artwork is cool, but a bit too busy in some of the cards, while being too simple in others. Like the fieldspell and the hero. The mechanic is unique, but restricting to pyro, and not fire extradeck kinda kills the archtype. Maybe this is a signal of pyro extra deck in the future? While superpoly and fusing with your opp mon is powerful, this lock will keep you walking on eggshells to not lock yourself by accident i feel. Overall its not good, but i like it. -Maybe with more support, copium- -ashen one, seek supports, more powerful supports-
Take this with a grain of salt. But i believe that zombie world will take priority on its owners turn, and this field spell will do the same. But if you banish the Banshee after this field spell is active on its owners turn then zombie wotld will take priority. Zombie main of 6 years btw.
Gonna be real. There is no logic or mechanical reason they can't be both Zombie and Pyro. It is not like any rule states monsters can only have one type. [If there is, that is a dumb restriction]
Ahhh got it. In any case, it's really swell that the one with the most clicks is the one with your face on it (if the one with the most clicks is kept as the thumbnail that is) @@HardlegGaming though "why am I so mid" did got me to write a reply while I was half awake getting ready for work. Both really good
There's actually two with my face on them. One is me just staring at the Ashened City in disbelief, the other is me and the Ashened King with some funny text. Which was the one you liked?
Yubel Ashened is a weird variant that can be made. You just have to treat it as two separate engines as opposed to one cohesive deck. You just do the Yubel bit first and go from there. Samsara and Awakening of Veidos is the entire combo.
