How did I do?? Not too bad for the first one. Have you ever made a similar mold yourself???

I just don't understand how it is that I just love your videos so much. Never made a mold myself. But if I could choose colors **** on top - medium olive green with the largest black flake available, a slightly wider and longer pink bloodline and fill out the bottom with your pearl white ( but add a little holographic flake), and it would be perfect for a So. Cal. Lake. Anyways, your channel is the bomb!!!! Cant wait for your next video.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ru-vid.comUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I wonder if you 3D printed the lure that you wanted to make a mold of and used that instead of the clay,i wonder if that would work? Great video,just opened up a whole new world of lure making for me. Thank you.

@pakde8002 5 лет назад
I suppose if you want to try something new the old school clay or Hi-Tech 3D printer is the way to go but if you want something that will definitely swim well just buy a good quality swim bait and use that as the master and skip that step. Is that a kill joy?

I make my own molds the same way and to get shinny baits I brush a coat of 2 part epoxy on the master and when its dry i pour my silicone. I use alumilite high strength 2 ( no need for Vaseline or mold release on one piece mold ). You can also pass a torch quickly over dull bait and it'll get shinny. Big fan keep up the good work.

You did a great job. Do you have a hardner will make the soft plastic tougher? Something that may assist you with making the exterior smoother/shinier would be taking a Q-tip, dipping it in the Vaseline then running the saturated end of the Q-tip rubbing the interior of the mold with a very light coating. This step could be improved with using vitamin E oil ( liquid/get it at drug store). Or just put a small drop inside mold, thin with a Q-tip rub it around the insides of the mold. I have poured molds previously many years ago with excellent success. Larry
