'i' is the vowel sound in 'in' (in english or swedish). 'y' is the first vowel sound in 'fyra' (4) as spoken in this video. 'u' is the vowel sound in 'sju' (7) as pronounced in this video.

My brother studied languages at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in California. The pace of study was intense. Students had to master the language course in 36-64 weeks. Psychologically it was very difficult, but fortunately he was helped by Yuriy Ivantsiv's book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign languages”. The book " Polyglot Notes" became a desk book for my brother, because it has answers to all the problems that any student of a foreign language has to face. Thanks to the author of the channel for this interesting video! Good luck to everyone who studies a foreign language and wants to realize their full potential!

I’d like to learn how to speak swedish in the swedish way and not the finnish way. Sadly our teacher says that we don’t need to know how to pronounce the words like they are pronounced in Sweden, so I really need these videos to learn how to speak properly😂 amazing video btw, I love your channel!

As someone who's from norrland; The finnish-swedish accent is awesome. I love the way finns speak swedish :D
@herrbonk3635
@herrbonk3635 4 года назад
@@XXXkazeXXX Perhaps because that's the teacher's own dialect. (Or for political reasons?)
@herrbonk3635
@herrbonk3635 4 года назад
@@zynius It's kind of beautiful but slow. It also creates a mental distance, like all strong dialects does (including some forms of Norrländska). The dialect gap makes it harder and more error prone to express nuances, attitudes or other feelings via your speech melody or tonality (aka cadence).
@XXXkazeXXX
@XXXkazeXXX 4 года назад
Herr Bönk it’s more like because i’m in finland and we have a finnish way of speaking swedish ( kind of like swiss german). the problem is that no swede speaks swedish like finnish-swedish (or mooomin swedish as swedes call it) so learning a language you don’t speak with a dialect no native speaks is just stupid

Lol I usually pronounce sju as "shuu" not "whuu" and tjugo as "chugo", "chuge", or as "tjue". For 9 and 10, I indeed say "nie" and "tie". I might be speaking Svorska or Mumindalenska (´・ω・`)

I'm a beginner, and the way that I'm trying to pronounce "sju" is to blow out a candle like you said, but also say "who" at the same time. It's not perfect, but it's pretty close and I think it's a good way to think about it. Although "h-woo" is a better way for me to visualise it, I feel like proper words are easier to remember.

Selv om norsk er 99% dansk, så er ikke tallsystem like sprøtt(crazy) som det danske. Du kan komme unna med det svenske systemet. Vi har også tre veier å si 1 på, ett(nøytral)-en(maskulint)-ei(feminint). Vi bruker omtrent alltid 'en' når man teller. 20 er tjue/tyve, 30 er tretti/tredve ellers er ting likt med bare noen bokstav forskjell

Hello! Enjoying your videos :-) Do tell us how to count "a hundred and...", "two hundred" etc if you can be bothered! Also I'd love to hear some Swedish ways to talk about music :-)
@Jinado1
@Jinado1 6 лет назад
That's really easy. The number "101" in Swedish is written (with letters) as "etthundraett" and pronounced as "ett-hundra-ett" OR "hundra-ett". And the number "102" is "etthundratvå" and is pronounced as "ett-hundra-två" OR "hundra-två". So really, you just take the word for "100" and then glue on the other numbers at the end. So a number like "132" would be written like "etthundratrettiotvå" and pronounced as "ett-hundra-trettio-två" OR "ett-hundra-tretti-två". Then with all the other numbers in Swedish, up to infinity, you just do the same thing. Therefore, the English number "1,234,572" is written with numbers as "1 234 572" in Swedish (we use spaces to easier read the numbers) and written with letters as "enmilliontvåhundratrettiofyrartusenfemhundrasjuttiotvå" and is pronouced like "en-million-två-hundra-trettio-fyra-tusen-fem-hundra-sjuttio-två" OR "en-million-två-hundra-tretti-fyra-tusen-fem-hundra-sjutti-två". You might have noticed that we just removed "ett" fom the "etthundra" and replaced it by another number, say... "fem", and then we got the number "500" (femhundra). Some words you should know: Million = Million Thousand = Tusen Five hundred = Femhundra Two hundred = Tvåhundra

Tack så mycket. I was just after the '7' sound. Yours is a rasping 'h'' sound. I've heard it like a 'sh' sound too. I like the variations being given. I'm beginning a new 'Esperanto', and searching for commonality in Indo-European, but using a Japanese structure and script. It's called 'Ǝrþliŋ' [Earthling], but isn't in this script. {Can be used as a practical, as well as a fantasy language/script, as in Sci-fi or 'Lord of the Rings'} My symbiote [house mate] walked in and though you had an American accent. [I guess more people tune in to the US than Britain.] The past tense of 'teach' is 'taught'. English seems to have still Germanic 'ablaut' in 'strong verbs'. Oh, and your '21' sounds like the French 'chouette' or 'little cabbage' - something you say to someone when you are fond of them! Sorry, it's 'mon petit chou' [my little cabbage], 'chouette' sounds like something else - not an owl though.
@Mycenaea

I pronounce "sju" the same way Nackagubben does. It's the easier way. The other way is more difficult. I've also read that women are more likely to pronounce it the more difficult way, and men the easier way for some weird reason :) lol, "little cabbage". So cute!
