This is quality entertainment 😂 I was cracking up at the $50 bike missing half its components... still a better deal than all those 40 yr old bikes people are asking $500 for!

Yes, to be fair that red one is more funny than overpriced.

I would say “dead stock” is correct but definitely not NOS. NOS is often used in electronics and automotive and usually it is the original packing container. These ads are show how lazy folks are, where a 5 minute search will give them a good idea that their bike is almost scrap metal. I regularly put in way more time than logical on huffys to be sold well south of $100 at a thrift store. It would be interesting to study what gets ridden more, the higher quality bike store or dept store bikes. It seems the later as many nice bikes like that mixte are out there unused in garages.

You're a saint for taking on those Huffy's! Interesting question which bikes get used more. I guess you could argue that if Department Store bikes generally get used for transportation whereas expensive ones are for leisure, the first ones would see more usage. I'm just guessing though.

I fix bikes for folk on the "rougher" side of town and I've maybe had 5 "nice" bikes roll in after 4 years of doing this. Dept store bikes are honestly way better than the cyclists say, they're not upgradable but basically every bike from 16" to 29" uses the same parts for costs reasons. Nearly every forgotten kids bike i get from a yard sale is 75% usable on something much more necessary. I have a higher profit margin fixing walmart bikes than i do my shops actual purpose of fixing cars, and i barely charge minimum wage in labor, parts are so plentiful they're let go for a few bucks.

@@georqedubyakush6066 That is great saving old bikes! In our area there is a significant influx of folks in the summer and that includes seasonal workers who often don’t have transportation. We have turned over most of the stock accumulated over the winter. Just about any working bike has value. I actually put NOS 26”:steel chromes wheels on an old Huffy yesterday, from a closed bike shop sell off.

@@georqedubyakush6066 I agree that department store bikes aren't as bad as people say - they get folks from point a to point b, and they're affordable. The margin for reselling used bikes is pretty good but I didn't realize how it compared to fixing cars. Really interesting.

@@stockton350 i dont necessarily make more money flat out, but i can pay $5 for a busted up huffy full of parts that could fix 4 other bikes each with a $50 labor bill (i try to be fair as most bikes im fixing are people only choice), cars dont have such glorious part interchangeability. Basically the car works pays the big bills, the bike work pays for the fun stuff

the thing I find is if you live in Canada adult tricycles in single speed for $300.00 or more unless you only want it for the trailer park riding a single speed is useless if you have any hills where you ride
@stockton350
@stockton350 14 дней назад
Interesting. Yes, single speeds are great in flat areas but in hilly areas not so much.

I got my Rincon with all the pieces for 25 bucks. For some reason the Iguanas go for a lot more. I pretty much avoid eBay for bikes (unless it's parts) because it's just a bunch of middle aged dudes selling their bikes they bought 30 years ago and thinking it costs the same as the day they bought it.

I agree. Bikes on eBay are much more expensive in general than ones you can buy locally. Plus, you’ll likely pay over $100 and shipping as well. I guess if you’re willing to pay a premium for something specific that’s an option, but for me, it’s prohibitively expensive.

😂😂😂 I just got off ebay with overprice vintage bikes... I was just looking for a used bike...😂😂

Oh man, eBay can be tricky because you have to pay high delivery fees on top of the asking price. But you might want to search for local pick ups?

Hi! I've been loving the videos and had both a question and a recommendation (that you should with a grain of salt ofc). Question: where and how do you sell your bikes. Recommendation: maybe show some of the restoration and repair process since I think that a lot of the people here are interested in and/or doing a similar thing to what you are, but have much less knowledge about the bikes themselves. Because of that, at least I, would love to hear your thoughts as you repair bikes and sell or donate them.

Thanks for that feedback. Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos. Stay tuned for more soon! I sell my bikes on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. I've sold bikes on commission at local stores and also through eBay but CL and FB were a better fit. I was thinking of doing a video about some tips for flipping bikes. Do you think that'd be of interest? I'll definitely keep your recommendation in mind for a future video!

I have a Vintage (2012) Lance Armstrong Michelob Light mtn bike, like new, tires still have the nubbies, $500 firm. No lowball offers, I know they're rare...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Wow. I just googled that and can't believe it's a real thing. Kind of like the Folding Fuji bike they did with Marlboro cigarettes back in the day.

@@stockton350 It was a Promotion Sweepstakes thing, and they got the absolute cheapest stuff that China made. It rides like a kitchen chair, if you are sitting on it backwards.. it's the ultimate MEME for horrible ideas on wheels. It belongs on a hook over the Beer coolers.
