Let's make so apple juice or apple cider... but I prefer to call it apple juice. This was another great day with the family having a new experience together.
This apple juice is a great way to use up your orchard haul, and it doesn't require a juicer or blender. All you need is fresh fruit. If your apples are sweet, you might not even need to add sugar.
Some apple varieties that would make excellent juice include Fuji, golden delicious, gala, red delicious, honeycrisp, granny Smith, and Rome. The combination of sweeter apples, such as Fuji and honeycrisp would make excellent juice when combined with a few tart apples, such as granny Smith and McIntosh. If your apples are not very sweet, you can always add sugar to the finished juice.

There are so many wild apple trees all over at the side of paths.. just help yourselves if you run out of apples in your garden 👍. You absolutely have to go to a Pantomime this Christmas too. Its an ancient form of theatre nad they are performed all over the UK ❤

Great parenting again from you both. Love to watch you and your family enjoying all that England has to offer. Good choice of music too! My MIL has about 5 apple trees in her garden, but all we ever do is make endless crumbles or leave them for the critters. Maybe we should invest in a press too.

I've been thinking about you all, and here you are! So lovely to see you again....You could also make apple sauce, as an American friend of mine, loved doing that, great to go with pork roast...

Beamish Museum up in the North East. It’s not a ‘museum’ that you would think but is a recreation of living in the area from the early 1900s onwards. Kids and adults love it as there’s loads to see and do. Website describes it better than me!

An aunt of mine in Herefordshire used to make cider, but these days there is good cider sold commercially. Hence, my own family focus on natural comestibles not found in most shops. These include gooseberry conserve, elderflower wine, acorn chutney, rose hip spreads, and quince jelly. We're definitely not vegetarians, but we enjoy natural ingredients, as you obviously do. Perhaps your children might enjoy making sweetcorn chutney? My grandsons love it added to their snack sandwiches.

You can use the grounded apples, just pasteurize the juice, heat at 70°C (around 160°F) always stirring and keep it at that temp for around 1 to 2 minutes, that kills any germs and moulds. Definitely make cider, it's really easy because of the natural sugars and very quick (4-6 weeks) if you make a yeast accelerator. Have fun 🙂

We used to have an apple tree at our old house, and my nan had an apple and a pear tree. So between both houses we had a good supply to make pies and crumbles 😋 never did juice though

Apple Cider in the States is different to British Apple Cider. Usa Apple Cider (Apple juice). British Apple Cider is alcholo. Need to freeze your apples, we do every year.

Had plum trees in the garden as a kid. Way too many to eat. They would fall to the ground and ferment. Wasps used to to eat them and get very pissed. You could tell by their erratic flying and aggressive behaviour.

Oh there’s a ‘Halloween Farm’ at Cattows Farm in Leicestershire but I’d say all the extra stuff on their website isn’t worth it, they have fair rides there on the day the day, a big cafe, pumpkin patch

You need to pasteurised the apple juice or it will turn into cider

Aargh! Please, please don't call apple juice cider! Not in the UK it ain't, and they would summarily shoot you here in Somerset for that! ;-)
