Oh I’m not sure I’m brave enough to work with stretchy, loosey-goosey double gauze just yet. But you have definitely inspired me to want to try, Jessica, so thank you! (I was just noticing how many Subscribers you have. You should definitely have 10x as many! Hopefully the more comments I add, the higher up the algorithm ladder you will climb!!! 👍 It’s only a matter of time, because the more people who see you, the way more subscribers you will acquire. Great job! It really does look soft! I would not have thought to do the quilting in rainbow colors! It looks super! Great job on the binding! This was fun to watch!
I love this so much!!! The simplicity and classic lines of your design is beautiful!! Now I want to make one! I have some double gauze, but have not sewn with it yet. This is so comfy looking and adorable, thanks so much for the great tutorial!!♥️
Beautiful quilt, you are truly a talented quilter. You are very brave using double gauze fabric, it is wonderful but just too fluid for me. Thanks for sharing and encouraging all of us. Have a wonderful day.❤
Great idea! Next time, try doing that on your longarm. Using your channel lock or computer. I’ve done a jelly roll quilt on the longarm in no time at all. I’ve never seen that type of material used for a baby quilt.
I love it!! My little four month old loves her gauzy receiving blankets. She likes to feel the light material. we were given enough that I could make a bigger quilt with them when she is a toddler. I’m wondering if that would work, to piece them into a giant four patch piece, then do what you are doing. It would finish out to be a big square large enough for a toddler to wrap up in.
Love this idea! Now I want to make one too. 😂Which foot did you use to sew the stitching lines? You did match your bobbin for each color thread, right?
I love Mettler silk finish!! I'll have to try it with the triple stitch on my machine, I love how it looked on your quilt! What marking tool do you recommend for dark fabrics where the blue ink doesn't show up?
Just beautiful…I’ve never sewn with that type of gauzy material. Thanks for the demo! When you showed the black and red material, I must admit that I cringed a bit…not because I didn’t like them, but I saw potential bleeding issues with the intensity of the colors. I’m not a prewasher normally, but what are your thoughts with the gauzy fabric? Thanks- Jill
I don't typically prewash any of my fabric and I couldn't wait to start so I didn't prewash but I think I would have here if I could have made myself wait.
Jessica, did you wash and dry your double gauze before starting this project? I’ve never worked with double gauze but it just seems like a fabric that would heavily shrink. Thanks!
I didn't prewash it. I did look it up and it says it shrinks about 10%. I don't plan on drying in the dryer because it said that's where you get the most shrinkage. However, I do want it to shrink and scrunch up at least some because I like that look on a quilt. If you didn't want it to shrink much, you could wash and dry it first.
I made my hubby a quilt with double gauze backing. I didn't prewash any of the fabric and it turned out great. It crinkles with gorgeous texture on the back.
@@sjfuquahow big was his quilt? I bought double gauze to back a lap quilt but I haven’t had the nerve to finish it. I’ve been debating on to wash or not wash.
