Man you make Great crawler movies.. I had a palm slap to the head moment, I hadn't thought about checking you out on instagram, and Bam.!! There you were... all good stuff always from you. Cheers mate 👍
I'd call this video "Close To The Edge" Steve! I caught myself holding my breath at about 5:15 !!! Loving the vibe this rig has, mate. This video has it all, I had to rewind a few times because my eyes kept getting drawn away from the truck to the gorgeous scenery. And what the hell, man? Is this a dry and dusty Wales I see before me?!?!?! NEVER!!! =D
I tell you what, it's genuinely nerve-wracking at times driving up there. It's steeper than it looks and if you start rolling, there's really nothing to stop it for a long time... and I don't mind you admiring the scenery at all, I do it all the time! Especially when it's dusty, which of course it is all the time, because this is Wales... 😁👍
That's got to be one of the best crawling videos on here, And with no music too, the camera work and scenery more than make up for the lack of music, I have a Texan in green but have a spare body which i think i'll do gray as looks so good.
I’m trying to convince myself to save for a traxxas defender but it’s not going well.. The Texan was the first 1/10 I saw and it remains a constant temptation!
Excellent video Steve. I really enjoyed it. I like the Texan and was tempted to buy one. But as I already have the Gmade Bom with similar suspension I bought the FTX Outback Hi-Rock instead. I'm always looking out for a cheap bargain one on eBay of course !
What do you think of the BOM? I nearly got one of those a while back, but got the more standard chassis instead. I then got the cantilever add-on, but I really wasn't impressed with its design... took it straight back off, to be honest. The setup on the Texan looks, moves and feels way better, for my money. (I do still like the look of the BOMs, though).
@@rccrawlersmid-wales645 Couldn't be happier with the Bom Steve. In fact I love it and I've had no issues with the suspension. This video shows it working quite well. Especially going up the hill at the end. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bQK4NJXXAys.html The lexan Bom cab on mine had been replaced by an Injora Jeep Cherokee hard cab by the previous owner which I really like, and I installed an interior and driver after this video. I'm wondering if the Texan wheelbase is the same as our Raptor bodies. Could be an option maybe ?
@@hollyhillrc I would have got one myself, but I found such a good deal on the Bronco-type one I couldn't pass it up. It's all built and under my LC70 body now, though I've recently swapped the axles for narrow MST ones. Unfortunately the Texan is really short - about 285mm! I've got plans to stretch it a bit without moving the suspension mounts, but don't know if it'll work yet. Having driven it a fair bit I'm not sure it really needs stretching, to be honest, but I'll probably try anyway! Oh - do you know what the deal is with the re-release Holiday Buggy/Sand Rover is? The first one seems reasonably easy to find, but not the second... were they limited or something?
I'm big fan of the power wagon bodies as I like older trucks. It does have that Mad Max look the way FTX have done it, a second exhaust pipe would of been nice.
Hi there and wow! The FTX Texan, looks fabulous indeed. Is there much scope for improvements? For upgrade parts, to make it even more extreme? Take care and best wishes 😉😊😁
Ah ha ha, very good - it is indeed. 🤣😎 Yeah, it feels pretty solid almost everywhere, though I was lucky not to snap the exhaust off (I've since done that...).
@@rccrawlersmid-wales645 Did you, by chance, submit anything into the RC4WD 1/24 & 1/18 commercial video request they made a few weeks ago? I can't recall if you have any of those, but if there were anyone who would be a contender, you'd be right up there.
@@VermontScaleCustoms I saw that but didn't... not sure what the deadline is/was? I recently got a used Gelande 2 1/18th, and even more recently finished painting it, so if I get a chance I could do something.
