Lindsey is being humble, as usual. Lindsey is the one who figured out how to make a homemade gelatin plate! After that, many others made DIY videos and most that I saw gave her credit, even if they modified the recipe. (If someone else did it prior to Lindsey, they were unknown to RU-vid.)

I LOVE gel printing and would love to see new gel printing techniques. There arr so many basic gel printing tutorials but new and unexpected uses would be so wonderful. I have high strength tissue and it is very fun and you are probably right that it is similar to deli paper. A notable difference is that the sheets are larger.

Picked up Covid on a group trip to Alaska. (Still worth it!) Have no band width to do much but watch videos and crochet. This was the perfect one! Thanks for inspiration for future healthy me!

Watching you organize with what you have on hand reminds us that sometimes that’s the best way. If you add stuff or downsize stuff you’re not as upset as when you’ve bought some expensive thing to organize in and it no longer works.

Yes, I would absolutely LOVE watching a video of yours with this. I don't know if I would be able to catch it live but I know I would watch it more than once. Also I love the encaustic, and bought all the stuff to do it but never found anyone that spent time teaching about it. I love detail with things like that. Or even a scan and cut video where we could learn to cut out the shapes and images from the thin foam and layer to make our own cool foam stamps. I have done the fun foam shape things but they are very small. Keep the train, you may have grandbabies coming! One of our daughters gave us five in 8 years. You just never know what is in that box of chocolates!

Gel plates!! I'm still using that recipe you developed way back when.... ten years ago? One of those even survived 6 years in a super-hot storage unit. I was blown away at how well it did. Now I have a new one that for some reason seems better than that first one. Maybe it's because I'd let it cure for a long while before using? Dunno, but it makes me so happy to have the size I need for few dollars. Since you shop at Blick's, I thought it might be worth mentioning that years ago I used to buy that so-called wet strength tissue paper...... only then it was called "artist's tissue" or something. It certainly has it's uses, but honestly? The deli paper works a treat for gel printing. The ticket for using it in collage is to make sure you add your medium (glue) to both surfaces (substrate and collage bit). That helps with any wrinkling, but also helps make it transparent. Dollar store wax paper also works -- usually only waxed on one side..... and sparingly at that. Organizing: Man, you're good at this. I'm just a dumper, because that's how I roll, but if everything had a place it would be amazing. I think the key take-away for me is that you're verbalizing, giving each item a name and use. Seems like that might be the magic answer to organizing. Hmmm..... I'm going to have to try some of the things you're doing. In the Dept. of For-What-It's-Worth.... because your videos always generate thoughts: I have a lot of boxes on a loft-type shelf -- things that I need to access, but it's an awkward effort to make. I want to easily find the correct box, then get down off the stool. I finally sucked it up and bought a sort of inventory kit. It's got a stack of QR stickers, the link to download their app, and some directions. I believe it was just under $10. You just slap a QR label onto a box, scan it using the app, the number pops up, then you can edit that box, adding a few photos of what's inside. You can also add keywords for searching. For me it was worth purchasing the SmartPacks kit, but now that I know how it works, I would probably use my little labelmaker to generate the QR codes, then use a spreadsheet for photos and keywords.If I didn't have the labelmaker, I'd just number the boxes. No real biggie.

What a trip down memory lane. Somewhere in my stash is a big pack of Penscore. I have not thought about that stuff for years, and as it predated the advent of the Gelli Arts plate, I never thought of the two together! Fun times. Great vid; I have several of those IKEA storage cubes and they are the biggest jumble. It's like the black hole of storage; once stuff goes into the cube it's never seen again! Perhaps, in an alternate dimension, someone is receiving random art supplies... Anyway, the idea of creating within-the-cube storage is genius! Thanks!

Isn't it amazing what we find when we go through some of our "collect all" boxes" We toss them together thinking they can be for one thing and they're better used for something else. I so get it though, as I have lots of loose stuff like that as well. Good for you making a donate pile. I should do so as well. Great idea for the chapstick. I keep an old small container full of vaseline to do that with. I honestly love organizing that kind of stuff. Job well done!

As you go thru your texture creating items it brings to mind all the things I have bought but barely used! For example - my Fiskars sets of texture plates, my metal embossing plates and specialty tools, the foam bath sponges from Target (I bought those but already had bought the name brands -Colorbox? And Simon Hurley, tons of clay tools and stamps, stencils, wood and foam stamps, stamps made from layering die cuts from fun foam, silicone kitchen tools, etc., etc. Do t get me started on colorizing products!

Less than 10 minutes in and I keep thinking, "I used that one. I used that one. I used that one." 😂

Oh Lindsay this made me giggle as you went through the box and found more and more of various items like flowers or foam blocks and tried to decide if you might use them again in the future. I could picture myself doing the same thing then at the end just separating them into more organised piles/jars without really getting rid of ant of the clutter 😅 It would be great to see a gel print session.

Great idea to make storage for what you have instead of trying to fit what you have into storage. Just a thought, but as far as the “cutesy” stuff - you might be a grandmother at some point and want something cutesy for your grandchild. I know there are lots of things that were available when my kids were little that aren’t available anymore for doing projects for my grandkids. I’ve bought several things off of eBay that were kind of expensive because they are “vintage” now. As long as you have room for them it might be good to keep them

I'd love to see you do a gel print sesh. If you do, please include that Arteza metallic stuff that gave the purple/green interference effect at 1:58 of this video. I recently ordered a 5x7 ish gel plate. Once I get my watercolor swatches and Christmas cards done, I'm going to play with that. I wanted to start with a smaller size and make sure I enjoy the process before investing in a larger plate. It looks so fun though!

How would you make your own ink pad so you can put your own ink on it? Do you have a video for that? I like this video as I am clueless about gel plates and tools etc.

I just had to pause this video and double check the case of deli paper I ordered from Sam’s club for $15 - free shipping -had to weigh at least 60pounds! (from your recommendation.) The case consisted of 5 1000 sheet packs! I gave away hundreds and hundreds of them and still gave more than half left! 🤣

This is quite serendipitous!!! I'd LOVE a video on getting started with gelli printing!!! I just came across a bunch of acrylic paint that I forgot were in the back of my craft closet. Some were too dried out (had to toss) and the rest are probably on their last leg. I had just started watching videos on gelli printing so that I can figure out how to use up the paint that I had already invested in. Also, do you know if the Tonic Nuvo (Dew) Drops (in the 1 oz bottles) can be used on a gelli plate to use for printing? I invested in several different colors to DIY my own Enamel Dots, however, I preferred actual gems or sequins and never really used them. So...if they can be used on a gellie plate, then we'll be in business! I'm just trying to use what I have. Thanks Lindsay!

I have loads of gel prints that I didn't know what to do with. I bought some Jayne Davenport stencils on amazon and used them with some of my kuretake zig pens over the prints to get a similar effect of the art that she does. I have a feeling I've already said this somewhere 😕

I just gathered up supplies to do the magazine transfers but can't find a good video so if you could do one of those that'd be great ❤

When you gel print again, can you tell us how you store gel blocks? Horizontal or Vertical?

Storing the gel plate in the original clamshell is fine, but putting paper on the surface will prevent bubbles that could ruin the plate.

Hullo Lindsay, I am not truly interested in gel printing. I will do my best to watch the content that you post, yet I have donated most all of my printmaking supplies. I am doing my best to work with my watercolors and painting endeavors! Painting is my main focus, I am still scattered that it is a wide ranging subject. I have a question regarding stamping on velvet. I’ve always used Hot Potato stamps in the past, but I have no more stamping supplies. So long story short, could I mount a foam stamp on a wood block to make my own stamp? Or would the foam stamp handle the heat from an iron?

I'm frustrated with gelli printing lately. The temperature in my room fluctuates between summer and winter so my Apple Barrell paints get clumpy and does not spread the way I would like with my brayer. HELP ME!

I would love to gel print a long with you! I have a question. I have heard so many art youtubers say the wet strength tissue is expensive. I looked on amazon and the carnival brand that seems to be the recommended is less than 15$ for 10 27x19" sheets, its even free shipping available. That doesn't seem that bad to me. For an art paper, it seems very reasonable. I thought it must be that they live in other countries and the price is different, but more and more US based people are saying its expensive as well. I'm a cheapskate. If anyone would think its too expensive, it'd be me. Am I looking at the wrong thing? Am I thinking about this wrong? I'm so confused.
