Sounds great! Looking forward to hear about your adventures. I just sent you some links. Maybe we'll meet somewhere as soon as I'm in Thailand (hopefully from July).
Paddy...just in case it didn’t cross your mind (although I doubt it)- since you plan on finishing this trip in about a year...make sure you don’t end up in the North around ‘Smoky season’ again! 😅
ive sent you a link to go to a beautiful waterfall on Koh lantah. Its completely different to other tourist packed spots in Thailand. definately worth it.
Oh! I love that physical map of Thailand. Very good presentation of your next travel. Your have a great teacher vocation .. also a great dramatisation speech. You will never run out of job if you want to teach. Thanks for share it with us.
I did a Circle the Pacific trip back in 1993. One of the many stop overs was in Manila. Ran into a guy who was returning from Thailand (my next stop) asked him for any advice since this was my first trip to this part of the world. His advice was "in Thailand all you have to do is show up". Also he did say get to Koh Samui before the jet planes arrive as the little airport there was planning to expand. Headed to Samui (train, bus, boat, I was poor back then) on my next trip in 94, wow a true paradise & lots of great memorries. He was so right on both counts. Have been showng up in Thailand ever since. I am posting under my wifes name as it is her account.
Just starting this and the your journey! Brilliant content Paddy - makes such easy viewing and addictive….Thailand is like no place on earth and can’t wait to get back there !
Paddy, I have to thank you a thousand times. Back in March 19 on my very first trip to Thailand I met a backpacker, who told me a bout the Mae Hong Son loop. Whe I returned home to Germany I immediately started my research and stumbled upon your video series about the loop, which gave me the confidence to just do it. It has been a life changing experience and I wanna thank you so much for the information and huge inspiration! I was supposed to go on my second road trip in last October to north-east Thailand, but due to covid... no chance. Yet. But delayed is not canceled. Wishing you a ton of fun travelling to the provinces! And once I make it back to Thailand's north, I would love to meet you for a beer or ten ;-) All the best, mate!
Such a good idea for stacking content and taking breaks. I like that you are letting people know that it's important to take care of yourself while living like this. Mental/emotional health is too often overlooked on more glamorous channels. Your down to earth vulnerability/humility is what has kept me watching you since budgeteers s1. Stay humble and you will have true fans forever. Looking forward to the grand adventure, love the entire idea!
When in the red zone down south , stick in Ampur Mueng of those provinces. You could wander around other Ampurs all you want but try and get back to the downtown before sunset.
Hi Paddy, I’m super excited for your trip and I’ll be following you every day. I will keep this short so I will give you a couple very quick thoughts. 1. i’ve done the train from Yala to BKK and the air con blasted all night, cold as hell!! i wish i had brought a blanket or jacket. 2. the train will need your Green Book for the motorbike, keep it handy 3. i tried to upgrade to the VIP sleeper car but was told i needed to do that weeks in advance. i wish i had. 4. i have driven my motorbike to Yala a felt perfectly safe, the people are just as kind in Yala as everywhere else in Thailand 5. I don’t know where you are going to sleep in most of these provinces?? I don’t think most of them have hotels?? 6. don’t worry about the monsoons in Phuket / Surat Thani area, i think it’s the best time to travel. i bet you have more rain in Chaing Mai. 7. have you thought about your immigration requirements while on the road. i have tried to do my 90 day report while traveling and always told i need to do it in my home province. this always sucks!! 8. when you come to phuket, i hope you can plan a night in Rawai. you be my fully paid guest at the funnest bar in Phuket and i promise you’ll have some great content for your channel as video is allowed. Sunshine Bar Rawai Phuket facebook.com/100005601765083/videos/1501568163373228/ I have ridden my bike from Yala to Chiang Mai and had the time of my life. I can’t wait to follow your adventure!!
When you are in the province of lop buri go that wonderful temple. I don't have a link but it is easy to find . Just go near the main city between the 7/11 and the morning market. There will be some separate food sellers on the street near there and you should see a 5 star chicken close by. Head towards the pharmacy and about half a mile down u will an eyeglass place called top chareon. Once you see the PT station just head straight till you see this picture of the king on a bridge and you will be close.
Find a solar motorbike instead of using a gasoline bike. Buy a tent and try sleeping in a public area you can do 100 THB a day if you don't sleep in a hotel. And the most important is Don't forget to visit Nan province (aka a Switzerland of Thailand) especially in the rainy season (please avoid the hot season).
Paddy, don't forget to revive your Facebook page also. The most successful travel vloggers are active on Facebook. It reaches more eyeballs. Good luck!
What a brilliant idea for a channel - good luck with your adventure. I am looking forward to all your videos as I hope to be in Thailand this fall. the adventure continues....
I think this will be a fantastic journey for you and everybody who will watch your videos. We are all very excited to see Thailand through your eyes . You are very articulate in informing us and a great personality. I’m sure you will do great because of all the positive subscribers you have and your personality. Do everything your way and you will never regret nothing. Good luck and trust your instincts always.
Love your videos Paddy - you are a fabulous communicator and I can't wait to return to Thailand when international borders reopen. Thank you soso much for your help.
Have a nice trip Paddy, I am looking forward to see your youtube films, I stayed before in the Chumpon area and drove around in an old honda 2-stroke similar to yours
Hi Paddy, Good luck and be safe in your journey to all the Thai provinces. I truly enjoy your videos viewed so far including those that filmed in deep south of Thailand (Pattani, Narathiwat & Yala). Keep up the good work of presenting us the places and the activities you have visited. Mmm, I have one suggestion i.e. for ease of tracking and following your video, it is possible if you could number your video in sequence i.e. vlog# or episode#. Thank you and stay safe...Cheers!!!
Good luck Paddy, so exited about your trip. I think you got a great plan that will allow you to have spontaneous adventure, too much planing can backfire. At least for me when I plan every little detail and something go wrong as often happens in life, my anxiety kicks in. Stay safe and make sure you take care of yourself.
Hi Paddy, just a heads up! I heard you want to visit Yala. Please hear me out!!! Please avoid these areas in these provinces: 1. Yala Province (especially the City district, Raman district, Bannang Sata district), 2. Narathiwat Province (especially Ra-ngae district, Rueso district, Bacho District), 3. Pattani Province (some remote areas, but the city is fine). These provinces/areas are well-known, by among Thai people, to be the homes of insurgency and terrorism in Thailand, as well as deadly robberies. More than 10k incidences of armed conflicts and bombings, both lethal and non-lethal, haven been reported over the past 10 years, and thousands of people have been killed. The groups responsible for the terrorist acts are largely religious extremists (it's long history to why this happens, so I will keep it short). Anyhow, please please please avoid all of these areas that I have mentioned, at all costs. I know those places can be beautiful but they are not worth your life!!!
Bullocks mate. Practically Paddy will be VERY unlikely to encounter a problem insh'allah. (God willing). The muslims fighting for independence or autonomy are by and large not religious extremists. They have nothing to gain by attacking a Westerner.
@@saddq1 Hi there! I would like to say that the religious extremists I mentioned have nothing to do with Muslim communities in Thailand. They are separatists who want the rights to their own lands and cultures. The Muslim communities, according to my friends and my ex-boyfriend who are Muslims, do not agree to this sentiment, and view them as terrorists. They also said that Thailand is a land of many religions and that Muslim cultures have already been incorporated into Thai society, and that Muslim people have been living here for generations, and so there's no need for the government to give the extremists want they want. Politics aside, I was simply telling the channel's owner to be extremely cautious when travelling to the areas aforementioned, especially Yala Province, because they are, in fact, accounts of terrorism and insurgency and robberies in those areas, according to Thai news. Unless you know someone who live in Yala and can give you a proper tour, then it is fine to go there. Otherwise travelling there solo is no-no.
@@koalanotbear The Malay Muslims here feel left behind amd marginalized by the Thai government. That won't change unless Bangkok is willing to give more rights to the people, like being able to teach Malay in government schools and to have the muslims get proper government jobs. Now 90 percent of those jobs is taken by buddhists, which does not reflect the population. Also, the people want an elected Malay muslim governor instead of a Bangkok puppet.
@@koalanotbear I can recommend Paddy not to worry about any dire warnings and just go for the adventure. The most dangerous thing he encounters will be the traffic.
Hi Paddy. You'll be testing the waters for me in the deep southern provinces as I'm planning a bike tour there early next month. Might see you somewhere along the way!
Also if you want some pointers on where to visit in Isaan (off the beaten track places as well as the more popular ones) then check out my playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLvSIYWoq6pIRrdD6izh7m-UtpVRS09-cD - I did the trip before I joined RU-vid! Hope it helps.
Look forward to you trip, your bike will be great to travel on, live the mods you have done, ride safe and when you get to Phangnga province shout us up, can show you where we live and the local sights, if we don't have anyone stopping in sure we can host you paddy, ride safe
Great trip Paddy, once you are on the road you will start to relax, well after you have some videos stacked up. Looking forward to seeing your adventures. Be safe go gently on yourself too.
Great video Paddy. Really looking forward to the tour. Only been to Chiang Mai, so really interested to find out about great places to visit the next time I go to Thailand. Thanks for inviting us to follow you on this adventure. Good luck.
Funny how I do my travel the same way by just going with the flow but listening to Paddy talking about "the plan is there's no plan" so calm turns my stomach upside down LOL... Best of luck bud! I'm here for the journey!
Really excited for this series! I probably won't make it to Thailand for a few years but I do have some friends living there currently, gonna share this with them.
Paddy!! So pumped to come along for this adventure! Like you, im obsessed with google maps and ill spend some time scouring southern Thailand for cool hikes/viewpoints/anything interesting!
ive sent you a link to go to a beautiful waterfall on Koh lantah. Its completely different to other tourist packed spots in Thailand. definately worth it.
Paddy is doing a massive travel series.... i really need to travel, google keeps sending a monthly map of where i've been and its making me depressed 😂😂
My main area of knowledge is in the NW - really anything north & west from Phitsanulok - but I'm sure my wife and I can come up with some suggestions. Hoping to be settling into retired life by the time you are likely to be back around Mae Hong Son, so perhaps I can treat you to a beer when you are passing through our locality.
