Let's Play All of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond 

We've condensed my entire playthrough of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond on Twitch into one video. This includes every gym, every legendary, the postgame, the Sinnoh Pokedex, and so much nostalgia. Myself and my editor Cloé worked incredibly hard on this - it's the longest fully edited video we've ever uploaded! I hope yous enjoy it

Imagine this- a kid walks past you. You make eye contact. Time for a pokemon battle. He introduces himself as Dad. Your dad. How you doin son. Fine, you tell him. You throw out your ponyta. Your first pokemon and your best friend. You've been through everything with this horse. Your dad throws out his pokemon. It's a bidoof. Let's do this, GOD, he says. You feel relieved. Your ponyta isn't very high leveled, you only get to train between shifts, but there's no way this route 4 pokemon is higher level. He uses swords dance. That's weird, you think. That's pretty high level. You use flame wheel. He brushes it off. You get ready for the next round- you're fairly confident ponyta will be able to tank it, even with a swords dance, when- CRUNCH. In a blink of an eye your ponyta collapses. Dad watches as you collapse to your knees after her, clutching your head in your hands. GOD stands uncaring. There is no remorse. No regret. No reaction from the bidoof at all as you hand over this month's rent. Your dad walks away, GOD trailing behind him. Your ponyta lies silently at your feet. You're not sure how, but you think this is how you get Mew.

Until I realised this was edited downm I thought this was a VERY respectable speedrun time

Sometimes RT just slips into his Von Karma voice out of nowhere . I fear his mind is being slowly taken over by Manfred.

It's amazing how much this game alternates between "that was such a clever change," "why the fuck did they change that," "why didn't they change that," and "thank god they didn't change that." The game design is practically bipolar in terms of quality.

I like how RT's reaction is either "I just wanna enjoy the nostalgia" or "WHY IS THIS STILL IN THE GAME WHAT YEAR IS IT?"

With that whole "what happens to trainers that always lose" I'd like to point out that the answer is Team Skull. Team Skull is made up of the people who failed the Island Challenge, and in fact there's a trainer type, sports boy & girl or something, that's just the Skull Grunts in regular clothes

I like the idea that every bidoof you fight is actually just the same omnipotent bidoof, toying with you along your journey.

Fun fact, I beat this game in 20 hours yesterday, with a desperately underleveled team. It took a lot of strategy and a few lucky friendship saves, but I did it. And I beat my rival, von Karma, at the same time. I felt incredible.

RT, I just want to say, thank you for providing fun and entertaining playthroughs of Pokémon while still taking the piss out of the games when it deserves it. You’re a treasure for those in the fan base who can see both the good and bad in the formula.

Daniel is *too* scarily accurate as a dejected dad who just wants love and wants out.

Magikarp survived this long because of 3 things: it's a massive pain in the ass to try eat eat since it's slippery, good at flopping away and has hard scales that give it time to escape (see: its two good stats are defense and speed), it has very little body mass, so its nutritional value is low, and it's good at living in polluted waters.

1:22:50 An actual semi-canonical answer for this comes from the Pokemon Special (Or Pokemon Adventures in the US) manga Diamond and Pearl. Fantina says that the reason she does this is because trainers that get all of the answers right are more grounded and reliant on facts and logic, so Illusions had more of an effect on how they battle. (Although to be fair, the math problems in the manga are much harder, and the illusions her pokemon induced affected both trainer and Pokemon. The manga also shows the Psyduck problem on a much larger scale! It's a very good manga!

Fun fact that's irrelevant to this game: in Pokemon mystery dungeon, splash actually does something. It lets the user jump to another tile, which is useful with mystery dungeons fight mechanics

There are so many decisions that just baffle me The benefit of 3D models is that it's faster to make complex animations and such, but at the cost of less detail The benefit of 2D art (pixel or regular) is that it looks much more detailed, at the cost of making animating much more time and money consuming So to freeze a 3D model to emulate 2D art... It's throwing away the largest benefit of 3D models in an attempt to get nostalgia points... If you want 2D art then use 2D art.

Fun fact, the dialga is named after my dog, shmoop :) my sister was in chat at the time and suggested the name, now our shmoop will be memorialized

I'd like to think he's not cheating when he reloads the game, but is actually just using Dialga's time powers to rewind time.

I loved how during the streams the chat would start spamming "GOD!" every time a bidoof or a bibarel showed up. These streams were amazing to watch

To be fair, keeping a pokemon dead the entire way through make an interesting challenge. If you lose all the pokemon, you revive the dead mon. You also lose a place in your party, so need to stratagize against that. Not sure about how PC boxes work, but if they work like in X and Y, you can't put them in and then heal the team, so you must constantly catch and level up new pokemon if they faint, or use revives once your far enough into the game.

The Cynthia fight can just be summed up as "I'm joining the War on Drugs. I'm on the side of Drugs."

Tbh I always assumed the reason why Cyrus gives you the Master Ball is because he was originally going to use one but then learned of the Red chain which is supposed to be even stronger than just making a temporary pact with Dialga/Palkia with a man made device where instead it gives you full control over their actions. Basically he had so much faith in this plan that he didn't care about the Master Ball as it wouldn't be as effective but it turned out that the lake trio could willingly break the red chain which was a factor he didn't expect.

all pigeons are on some level tame, even the "wild" ones, so you could just pick one up and take it home. they make amazing pets and are free if you live in a city where they're common :D

Fun Fact: Arceus’ name for the english translation uses both “Ar-key-us” and “Ar-see-us”. The movie, Arceus and the Jewel of Life, uses the former pronunciation to avoid accidentally sounding like “arse”. The game, Pokémon Revolution, uses the latter. Since the movie came out after the game, technically the correct saying is “Ar-key-us”. That being said, I prefer the original “Ar-see-us” as it was the initial pronunciation and I think a lot of words have “ass” as as the starting sounds of other words that we use often, so why stop at “arse”?

I’ve just Hand a thought. What if: The fact that Lad seems to struggle with evolving his Pokémon is because he isn‘t quite succeding in bonding with them because of the high expectations he puts on himself and thus his Pokémon ,and instead of asking his Dad for help he just keeps up this overconfident act everytime they meet. And only if he is finally able to step over his shadow will he truly be able to progress and grow with his Pokémon and as a Person. Damn, that got a lot darker than I expected, but also sounds like a very interesting premise for a story.

About a year and a half later and I still love RT’s idea of an evil team being influencers. They try to kidnap and use all the “cute” Pokémon for more followers. I could imagine all the pika clones would be used by the commanders

I'm skipping BDSP but honestly, I'm so glad that people are loving this game. I don't have much reason to play it still but watching other fans, both those who grew up on Platinum and those who never played gen 4, have a good time with it is so rewarding. It's inspired me to open my 3DS up for a Platinum shiny hunt.

40:22 Interestingly, the statue in Eterna City, in both the original and the remakes is a fusion of Dialga and Palkia. It's not quite one or the other. It's less obvious in the remakes, because the long head is very Dialga, but it has Palkia's shoulder guards, stance and back feet.

RT: I didn’t think I mentioned during the stream, but the creation story in the game is kind of based on Chinese Creation Story. In Chinese belief, the world started as an egg called 混沌 (Chaos) then a being called “盘古” （PanGu）awoken in the egg. Getting Bored he use an axe to split the egg in half. One half become the sky, the other half become land. It was a great feat and PanGu “went to rest” from exhaustion. His body turned into different things like muscles into mountains, veins become rivers,etc. (Some gets a bit mature so you can look it up).

Something I just realized: when you first enter the dark lab in Galactic HQ, there are scientists shuddering in horror at what they've done. When you return, they have disappeared. If you remember the legends in Canalave Library, they might very well have suffered those horrible fates in retribution.

Ok, so hear me out; The HM Bibarel is Jesus. It’s: _-Capable of walking on water_ _-The son of god (probably)_ _-Capable of teleportation (pretty sure Jesus did that once)_ _-Appearance is often accompanied by a blinding light_ So it’s pretty much the RT universe equivalent of Jesus.

It is good to see that RT has accepted Bidoof as his lord and savior.

I was listening to this video as a podcast while cleaning and when I finally looked back at the video, i had forgot that Dad is actually a kid. I've been picturing a middle aged man for like 2 hours.

the marriage book was still in the game however, and this was in the oringals; in the english game they changed it to "eating at the same table" so if we see a pokemon and a human be exceptionally close in legends, eating at the same table, we can assume the implication

the main Protagonist of the series: you've got Dad. everyone's "Dad" you've got that one Lad, the annoying kind. (nothing close to Hop) and GOD. just GOD

I'm less than a minute in and already I can tell that Rowan is a timelord come back to see his dad in his prime as a pokemon trainer. Rowan is just Barry "Lad" confirmed. I will add more to this log as the story line unfolds. Dawn is just the apparent "Mom" character. The "Mom" is just Dawn from the future, joining her brother Barry "Rowan" "Lad". I can only predict what dark future occurred to Dad. Cheryl is actually blind. The player character sounds exactly like her father so she confuses him for her dad. They are not in space. Dad is unknowingly caught in the actual time stream by Barry "Rowan" "Lad" who is trying to save his father's life. Team Galactic uses it to bring the worse threat to their team aside from Cynthia out of the timeline to win. Due to the rifts in the time stream, the multiple worlds is fracturing more and more. The universe is now unraveling, giving us more hints as to Dad's fate. Riely is actually Dad's first child. He explored Iron Island and died in the mines. He haunts his dad as a constant reminder of Dad's sins and neglect. Pokemon Anxiety and Depression confirmed for 2025. When reading all the books, it is clear that Barry "Rowan" "Lad" has summoned Arceus "God" and Dialga to keep fucking with the timeline to save Dad. Rowan has erased Looker and his own timeline. What a good son. By realizing the power of GOD, Dad changed the timeline and left Dawn to train. The timeline changes again. Barry "Rowan" "Lad" knew the present Lad was ok since he was still alive. After all, a timelord knows all. And knows how to fuck with it too. Cyrus is just Riely from a slightly different timeline. He has used the fractured timelines to enter this one and get revenge on Dad for abandoning him and showing favoritism to Barry "Rowan" "Lad" Dawn and Jefferson. Cyrus is trying to find a timeline where Dad loves him. After enough effort, Sirus just decides to rewrite a timeline. Barry "Rowan" "Lad" wants you to master Dialga to reform the timelines after he fucked them up. Upon maximizing GOD's efficiency, Dad has mastered the timeline, reforming it under his protection. He rewrote destiny. After beating Cynthia, it is clear she is Dawn in her middle age before becoming the “Mom” character. Cynthia is from later in the timeline so the actual line is still fucked. By using GOD powered Pokeballs and a fucked timeline, Dad was able to capture the Regis. He is now hunting for a timeline where Reggie Fils Aime is in the game. His body is ready. Upon getting Giratina into a poke ball, Dad had reset the timeline. Hence why we never see Rowan or Cynthia again. Marley is just flirting calling him Dad. What am I writing? Help me. Please. Buck actually doesnt understand how names work so just calls him Dad too. I dont know why I’m writing this either and not sure how names work myself. My claiming every legendary, Dad has fixed the multiverse and completely avoided his own dangerous fate which caused Barry “Rowan” “Lad” to become a timelord. The fucking hell did I do?

Of all the things I wish they could have kept from platinum, the out of knowhere nightmarish giratina jumpscare is one thing in particular that I’ll always want.

The Grand Underground is a great place to EV train. Allows you to send trainers on Route 210 with lv 20 pokemon to the shadow realm with a Lv 63 Gardevoir with maxed Sp. Atk EVs. 10/10 highly recommend

It’s really heartwarming seeing how much nostalgia and love RT has for the Pokémon franchise. It makes me, a newer Pokémon fan, feel good

At roughly 3 hours, I got the idea that Dad is the foster dad for the Regi's, and Regigigas is fighting to get his kids back

2:42:19 for context, Cynthia’s Milotic has a flame orb because it has an ability that increases defense when under a status condition. By giving it the flame orb, it basically guarantees that: A. It cannot be paralyzed, because a status condition cannot be overridden by another status (excluding sleep). B. It’s defense will always be reasonably high because of the status. Now, if you were to paralyze it BEFORE it gets burned, that’s a good thing. Although it will still have high defense, sometimes paralysis is better depending on your team composition.

Funnily enough team aqua is the influencer villain group in the manga as they control the media to make team magma look bad. Like team aqua’s leader is feral in the way he acts Whereas team magma’s leader has more trust in his people and because of that they’re actually interesting but their leader is an alcoholic I loved the dynamic because “the dumb pirate” is actually in control of the media as the head of news whereas the “smart looking man” needs ample help from his team (even though he’s pretty strong) and is an alcoholic
