I think the heroes lost for two reasons :- Dom was left unprotected :- Holly wasted time smashed coffins instead of beating up John to keep his physical stats down

An episode with Dom is an episode I’ll enjoy

I'm hoping this is a preview of the cast of the upcoming RPG. Such a fun group with a good mix of silly and serious. And I keep forgetting that the cast are all working actors/comedians/voice actors beyond just being excellent on RU-vid, so hearing that Tilly voiced a character in the Baldurs Gate video game was a bit of a surprise!

A dom episode is always a good episode. Can’t shake the feeling dom is going to led a Coup d'état and take over the channel. Getting one seat closer to Laurie.

Fun fact: I was actually playing Starfield on a monday evening when I first "watched" this (more like listened to and occasionally looked over) and was screaming with laughter with the whole "I don't like mondays" said Starfield-bit!

The gang need to play Escape From Colditz with Dom as the camp commandant, Sully as the Brits, Teri the French, Blair the Americans, Laurie the Dutch and Tilly as the Poles. People think this is an all vs one game but it's actually everyone for themselves and I could certainly see some people selling each other out whilst others work together.

That Starfield burn was so good

Shrine to Bhaal was perfect, it just fit thematically.

One minor rules thing that was missed, once Jon had the Berserkers Axe he would have been required to attack the NPC on his square before leaving. It would have given Tilly one more shot at him. Ultimately it likely doesn't change anything but it could have.

Teri sneezing in French is obviously the highlight reel moment

Two things: 4th edition is NOT rubbish. 😜 And destroying the coffin in Haunt 8 is a Might/Sanity ROLL with a DC, not an attack… Sorry, no Beserker Axes or other attack modifying items/Omens/abilities/substitutes/etc. allowed! 😢 Keep up the good work!

The first rule of board game club is foreshadowing the new channel! And none of us knew that until now!

The drow was evil? Who could have seen that coming? The ending was a bit surprising though, when the gang smashed the coffin I thought it was over when Jon suddenly turned everyone into juice boxes in a surprise twist. Starting with Dom was a good strategy, the glass canon is both an easy kill and the one person (besides possibly Holly if she had rolled better) that seriously could hurt him. Well played Jon. :) I do love how offended Jon got in the beginning when they teased him for being the probable traitor only to be right and all die horrible.

1:12:30 Can you use the axe to smash the coffin? Is it an attack against the coffin, or are you making a Might roll? If its a Might roll I don't think it's classed as an attack, meaning you wouldn't (paradoxically) be allowed to use the Axe to smash the coffin.

I found Tilly's character in Baldur's Gate 3 about a month ago now. No spoilers, but everyone should explore

Dom shouting out Dungeon Crawl Classics (as Jon's spooky shadow), I love it! On that note, I think I speak for a lot of people when I say nobody will mind if you just play 5e/1D&D, but I'd love to see a DCC or other deadlier system run. I think DCC specifically has an energy that would really play well with the personalities on this channel, and the level 0 "oh no my characters are dropping like flies" would be hilarious.

I noticed tilly was in bg3 when I started act 3 and found one of the npcs she voices... right after watching group communopoly.

While i am sad at the lack of a Cthulu group game this year i am super excited for some betrayal, especially with a baldurs gate flavor.

Tom's right: that Dadalus pun was very good.

Some bold polish choices today. Kinda nice to have ones nails on point though before a board game where there will be a fair bit of hand focus I suppose.

I always miss Sully when he is not in an episode but having this cast makes up for it ❤ Can't wait to watch!

I had no idea Tillie had voiced Zenovia -- among others -- in BG3. Also, her naming patterns for NPCs were strikingly similar to what's actually in the game, especially in Act 3...ah, Krangelus Fopp.

oooOOOooo 4e was fiiiIIIiiine, objectively the biggest flaw was not doing enough to encourage players to roleplay in the text and not having anyone who was any good at making adventures in WotC itself, objectively they had more support for noncombat mechanics than 3.5 they just did a bad job of supporting themmmmmm (But seriously, the 4e edition wars really sucked, and I'm waving this post around to ward off more edition wars stuff like I'm trying to scare away a vampire with a cross.)

ok so i havent made it to the end but destroying the coffins isnt an attack roll. its a stat check roll. they are might and sanity rolls but arnt attacks so the weapons do not aid in destroying them.

I don't have a copy of the rules but it seems wrong that the heroes are able to use weapons during the might roll against the coffin.

I played a hybrid of 1st and 2nd edition in my first game that happened one week before third edition came out. We discovered later that the DM was making up most of the rules as he went, but at the time, we didn't know that and it didn't detract from the fun. My group played First Edition with a smattering of house rules (like using the 2nd edition system for initiative) for many years. Since then, I've come to enjoy 5E as well, but 1E AD&D is still where my heart is at. I get 3E and 3.5E, and I can unite with them in the hatred of the abomination that is 4E. I didn't like the streamlining that 2E did to 1E, and I liked even less the streamlining of 3E. I got over it for 5E, especially as power creep is less apparent in 5E.... Still, 1E AD&D is "the bomb."

Yessss! I love this edition. A friend bought it for my birthday last year and we had a blast playing it

Boy did this swing real hard. An absolutely devastating defeat for the heroes.

This was a good Halloween game with a lot of fun! Laurie did a good job keeping up with the rules and pointing things out, even when it hurt his side. I know some people don't like how much Betrayal can swing, but I think it is more fun than a lot of heavier games where you can know you will lose almost from the start due to just not being as strategic/getting dealt a bad starting hand. Your mileage may vary, but I think the losing side had a good shot to win before certain decisions put it out of reach. I also really enjoyed all the DnD references, even from known DnD hater Jon.
