The original Exile trilogy can be downloaded free from spiderwebsoftware.com. They also have updated versions for sale that run on modern systems. The oldest games only run on pre-intel Macs or pre-Vista Windows, so have an emulator handy if you want to play. Tremendous. Thank you for the playthrough of this huge game. I never finished this one. I somehow got into the golems before even dealing with the giants and troglos, which needless to say made things impossible. It was the demon golems that broke my spirit. Even so, it was certainly a challenging game. I so enjoyed this playthrough, especially realizing it entailed many off screen hours of training, travel, routine encounters, and re-dos that didn't make it into your videos. So thank you for the many, many hours you put into this classic game for us. Clearly it was a labor of love, but you kindly invited us a long for the trip!

Thanks for the amazing series, SallieKat. You brought back lots of memories of the (too) many afternoons 12yo me spent playing this little gem, mouse in one hand, English to Italian dictionary in the other. Jeff might be a sadistic level designer but "Ruined World" is the reason I passed all my English classes with flying colors!

I will absolutely cover Blades of Exile and those 3 scenarios! Not immediately though. I’m taking a break from Exile for a couple months at least, and there are a LOT of games in my family Steam library that could make good LPs…

Excellent persistence and very well presented. Thank you. My recent playthrough ended fatally after running at Rentar for about the fourth time and dying. Despite following a walkthrough somehow the slime didn't all activate and Erika didn't appear. I also realised I'd got bored waiting for my anti-Vahnati weapon to be created, forgot about it and headed into the end game without it! So I didn't know why I was failing in the final battle and gave up. Very satisfying to see the different ending options in this video. If I play this trilogy again I aim to play it as Exile 1, Exile 2 and Avernum 3. I don't think I could face the last 5-10hrs of Exile 3 twice in one lifetime!

The anti-Vahnatai weapon doesn't apply to the final battle. It just causes the crystal souls to teleport out without fighting. If you have a save still I recommend antimagic field. Rhentar doesn't move around so it'll stay on her until it fades.

It’s very possible that you missed one of the hidden buttons to release all the slime, like I did. Three of the corners have two buttons, but one has three!

Wow. Great finale. Good job, Salliekat. You did as good a job on this as anyone could have. I have to say, Jeff Vogel was a genius writer and gamemaker and this might have been his magnum opus. I tried playing Avernum 3 but it just wasn't the same. I was so glad you made this series. I remember getting to the end using the save editor and trying to get past Rentar-Ihrno over and over, getting frustrated that Erika's amulet wasn't working and giving up (straight up wasn't smart enough to solve the puzzles as a kid), so I never got to see the actual ending. This was a real treat.

Amazing play through. Wasn’t there an ancient vanatai tomb somewhere in the north west of the map? I don’t remember you getting to that.

I did cover that - waaaay back in episode 53! Wow, I didn’t realize it was that far back in the playthrough. If I recall, I found it when I was poking around for secrets (especially a certain epic weapon) in the mountains near the dragons.

Smarter use of Antimagic and Simulacrums, mainly. Possibly visiting Blackcrag earlier and getting the Protection spell before dealing with the golems.

Wanna know an easy mode Get the soul crystal early on, Get tekora tel, he is magic resistant but can be captured with great effort, same goes for devishes Why tekora tell - can summon using his own soul crystal, which can summon eyebeasts Can summon a huge army in a few turns and is quite sturdy Has access to divine thud and similar spells Get an empire dervish from silver and as the game progresses a demon golem and if you can, a pack leader With a few vahnatai Lord, you can practically overrun most battles
