you obviously do the hedland first with a butterfly or in this case a BIG-M, but if you are mowing with one mower you do the headland last because otherwise you would be driving in the swath. fun fact, ive actually driven a krone Big M in real life :) it was awesom! keep up the good work and effor dagger, wish you the best of luck in your future videos! :)
To answer a few of you're questions. With the big m, it's fine for just the one headland cut. It all depends on the mower, a small rear mounted mower conditioner may need two or three. It is good practice to put sheep directly on a collected field, they clean it up around the edge. In real life it is essential on grassland to collect all that you mow, I know in the game it is not important. In real life if you leave some on the field it doesn't rot well and will still be there on the next cut. I have driven over some in two wheel drive 12 months after it was cut, it had not rotted at all and was like slurry sat on the surface, very slippy. Love the vids dagger.
I've driven a mower for silage. The ones we had was attached to the front and back of a tractor that extended out to the right. It is a very easy job like you said. Just have to make 2 or 3 lines around the edges and then straight and nice lines for the pickup machine or harvester. We used the grass silage for dairy cattle though.
I work on a farm and the way I have been taught is that you do the headlands at least once or twice then go up and down or side to side depending on the size and shape of the field.
Hi Daggerwin, We always cut the headland first, normally 6 or 7 times around clockwise depending on the size of the mower, before doing one back-swathe anti-clockwise and then do the up and down last. Do the same when tedding too, between 2 or 4 times and then straight up and down the middle.Only when rowing up do we do the headland last so you don't drive over the row. Hope that helps :)
Daggerwin, When mowing you leave a mowers width in the edge of the field and after doing the middle of the feild you do that outside headland. the reason you do this is so that say if there was big stone in the outside of the feild and you mow over it first it breaks the mower, which is why you do it last so if it breaks you've mine the feild
I'm a farmer in New Zealand and when it comes down to mowing it is really personal preference because if you mow headlands first that's where all the weeds grow so you wouldn't won't to mow that and bring the seeds into the middle of your field. But that's just what I think🙂😊
very good video. That's one hell of a lawnmower LOL🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚🚚😂😎😅😄😃😉😆😅😗😏😶🎢🎢🎢🎡🚂🎰🎨⛺🌉⛲🎭🎪🌇⛪🗽🌆💈🌆🗽🌆💈🗽🌍🌎🌏🌐🗾🌋🗻🏠🏩🏨🏦🏥🏤🏣🏢🏡🏪🏫🏬🏭🏯🏰💒🗼🍭🍮🍯🍼☕🍵🍷🍶🔪🍴🍻🍺🍹🍸
Hey just a heads up with soil mod that grass will disappear tomorrow and I notice it's almost 17:00 so you have to do it before your soil mod updates. I learned this the hard way I mowed 3 feilds got the forage harvester ready and trailers ready skipped thru the night came back to field and ended up getting 4 trailer fulls off 3 feilds I was pissed to say he least
When planting if you do headlands you do them first if you have a big planter and do them last if you have a small planter so you can minimize crop compaction
Daggerwin You always Do The Headland First Because Its Easier To Go Up And Down After That Thats What We Do Here In Real Life Love Your Vid Keep Up The Gud Work
If you set the Big M to swath mode, you dont do the headlands first because then you drive over your swaths all the time. But if you spread the grass, you can do the headlands first.
daggerwin do not do the headland close to the hedge, leave one mower length away from the hedge because there could be rocks in the hedge that might have been doing from the hedge and you could damage your mower. that's what I do
All the people in the comments arguing about how you cut grass. It's just a game, he does what he can to be realistic, give him a break if he doesn't do everything perfectly, nobody does.
You always do the headland first otherwise you will crush the crop and you should use the the roller in field 4 that you just planted it helps with moisture
hey daggerwin, i mow fields (school and parks) for the city i live in and i always do the headlinds first, but 2 passes not 1. that way there is ample room to turn around and get straight lines up and down the field. if you are courious i opperate a john deere 1600 turbo W.A.M field mower, 12' cutting with. its a beauty to drive
hi daggerwin I'm a farmer myself and I always leave the headland until the end because a few years ago I hit a massive rock beside a hedge when doing the headland first and it cost me hundreds of euro to repair it but of course in fs there aren't any massive rocks that will destroy your mower and after that I always leave the headland until last when cutting silage, hay, whole crop or something so if you hit something at least your nearly finished.
It's ok not to use GPS Daggerwin as there certainly was a time in the past farmers used their eyes to keep in line 😊 Sadly I'm old enough to remember that time 😂lol. Great video as always.
same we don't use GPS, eyes is as good as the GPS I think u look at the worker on fs he goes anywere, and that's a GPS though eyes are sometimes beter in my case
daggerwin you should program two of the side panel switches that are close together to raise the front and rear implement if you are worried about raising mowers
Of course you do the headland first when mowing, if not you're just squashing the grass and then it won't get cut properly because the grass is laid flat, admittedly there are some jobs where you do headlands last like ploughing and so on
+Daggerwin if you have a mower like the one you had on taste of donegal you do the head land last but with a butterfly mower you do it the frist time around
depends on what mower you have if it is self-propelled you can do the ends first if you don't have a self-propelled mower you do the inside then the ends
Hey Daggerwin. I know you did Sandy Bay LP already, but I think you should revisit the Sandy bay redux map for a new LP. Lots of good changes and still a fantastic map.. Keep up the good work. Cheers
if you are mowing you do the headland first, otherwhise you are driving over the grass wich is bad, if you are plowing or cultivating you have to do the headland as last
spread lime on the stubble fields before you cultivate them so the ph level dnt go to low when you seed it as it better to have ph a little bitter high as it goes down when they grow
Daggerwin i live on a real farm and when we are doing silage we do the hearerland/backswart last because if we hit a stone that came from the ditch the whole show is stopped
daggerwin,I'm a farmer myself and I know how to mow fields.your doing it wright you have to doe the outside either once or twice,it doesn't matter then goe up and down :-)
all harvesting jobs you should do the headland first else you will crush the crops but any other job it is up to the driver but mostly i would do the headland last so you dont have worry about anyth while doing the c3ntral portion of the field
always headlands first otherwise you would be runing over your crop/grass which means it would be hard to cut the silage as it would all be tramped down
always headland first otherwise you would be driving over the grass at the edges of the field and the mower wouldn't give as good as a cut because it wouldn't be able to get under the grass properly :)
First if you are using the Moco you go around the headland 2 to 4 times and then you go to the middle of the field and cut down the middle then do the both sides
Nope, its the same as a rear mower, mower to the left side of the tractor and drive with the tractors most as possible to the outside of the field. Then mow the whole field and at last the outside where you have driven the first time around, ( Or after 2-3 times around and then the outside of the field, its just what you want.
Over here in South East Ireland we always do 2 or 3 headlands first and then straight lines look at my videos and it will show you how we do it over here. Enjoy Ryan :)
Daggerwin, you really should have to check out the fiat 180-90 mod from farming2015 mods.just downloaded it and its a really nive tractor with realistic sound and it even have gears.
Where I live people have pull mowers like the John Deere one you had on donegal we go six times around people with self propelled mowers the big m they usually go around the headland 4 times
Me and my dad got a front mounted mower on our tractor, and we drive 3-5 times around the field before we start going back and fourth :) Sorri for bad english, not my mother tounge :))
Would you be able to do a map tour of my map? It will be tested on my server soon and then uploaded to FS UK so I would appreciate it if you got word of mouth going, thanks :)
