Join me as I play Field of Glory Kingdoms! FoG Kingdoms is a turn-based grand strategy game set in the Middle Ages (aka Medieval period). In this series we'll be playing as France in the Grand Campaign scenario.

Costs you nothing to try to make peace, and the option of squashing Picardie to link up your provinces is seductive. Keep in mind, Picardie is continually claiming Paris, so you could put a stop to that. How long does a peace treaty last? You'll definitely want to have another discussion about fundamental questions with Normandie again.

I think Normandy is getting its troops from the scripted event for the faction, just a guess tho. You can look at the option and turn it off if you want to but I think it might be too late.

Well it is past 1066 now, so yeah that could be the case as I have that option turned on. I was thinking William would only get the scripted troops if he was invading England, but that might not be the case.

No, as I said in the last HOI4 series, I'm generally only going to play it when new expansions release. It seems like the the only time people watch those series is when everyone is excited for the new DLC.

Yeah I think that's the case with other subs as well, but I've been playing HOI4 for 8 years now so it seems the interest in it (or at least in my HOI4 series) has been dropping.

Is the AI able to sustain such a large army through cheating? I hate games with cheating AI's.

Well it might be from the setting that gives William free armies once 1066 passes so that he can conquer England.

Sieging his capital will put a substantial dent into his income, he will have to disband his huge army soon then.

Yep, though it will take a while to siege his capital and we can't have his army running around conquering all our territory. So we need to defeat him in the field first.

We need to forge a letter from Harold to William saying nasty things about his mum. And forge a letter from William to Harold claiming that cousin Eddy left England to us. Then we sit back and eat the popcorn. 🍿

Curious how people deal with sieges. Having a regional decision to play is great, but if you don't seems sieges can be problematic?

There is a lot of waiting involved at times, particularly for well fortified locations. There are siege engines that you can get as well, which increase the rate that breaches are made.

You can try to wait till they starve, having a harbour helps on the -75% food. And when they starve you can try to storm the walls and earning corona muralis, might be a couple of centories out of time.
