a ROM is a more or less PC version of a non-PC game. Super Mario World romhacks are done with a piece of software called Lunar Magic. Other kinds, I don't know.
Ironically you started the vid with "last dinosaur" then somewhere along the line, ditched Yoshi, only to recover him and repeatedly throw him into a pool of lava. Nice lyrics to Carnival, btw. And... added lyrics to Brand-new Lovesong?
It always seems like they try to get you with the time when they have the kaizo end traps. Look at some of those vids and you'll notice that most of the time theres a kaizo end trap your time is in the lower double digits or single digits.
you can change the settings for each level so they lead to the level number of the one you're working on. when you save the level to the rom, it asks what number to save it as. open up the overworld editor, and then select whichever level you want to change. then just click the icon that looks like a coin, and from that menu you can change what level number that area leads to. just change it back when you're done.
The first level is pretty creative. I liked it a lot. The second half of the second one seemed a bit dull. The green switch palace was exceptional. Overall, I'd say the stages are getting a bit better.
It would be funny to see at least. I dunno, I'd probably be one of those chibi characters who kinda acts like The Mask (Pulling out guns out of nowhere, overly animated, etc...), but use your own discretion if you're thinking of making something.
So for the past few weeks, I haven't been feeling to great, but when I watch protonjon videos, it's settles me and keeps my mind at ease, one of my favorite people on RU-vid man.
? I say that all the time though, way before I met Rod, and this vid predates almost all of his videos. Rod and myself trade catchphrases all the time though so if he says something I've said or I say something he's said, neither of us mind.
I like how the guy who made this hack decided it would be a good idea to put a Yoshi right in front of the entrance to a level that trapped you if you have Yoshi. That's some great game design right there...
I have a sugestion of a lyric change at the begin of the video. How about "Mario's pants are on fire." Fits a little better with the song. *shrug* Awesome video by the way.
You know, watching these types of vids is pretty useful in coming up with game design. These level gamelun1 came up with were mediocre up to this point, but I like the green p-switch end. If that part where to be developed as a whole stage where you try to get to the switch instead of the pipe at the end would be a nice change. Dead end traps needs a way to die instead of waiting on the clock. Note in your playing style so far. Patience. You're relaxed for it and you can develop strategy.
