As much as I understand that Joyce deserves to be happy and that Chloe should at least make an effort to be polite, it doesn't seem like Joyce has taken the time to slowly integrate David into Chloe's life. As much as she has the right to fall in love again, Chloe also has the right to dislike him, so by Joyce's actions so far, it's coming across like she's pretty much saying "you're just gonna have to deal with it" but that might just be me interpreting it that way
A little bit of crying is nothing to be ashamed of Johnny. I'm not afraid to say that I teared up at the car wreck scene too. The bittersweet emotional rollercoaster of soppy teenage romance and dealing with the death of a parent mixed with sentimental instrumental post-rock is a heady combination for sure. I think the devs did a really good job with this first episode.
I've watched Episode 1 many times and Rachel's scream at the end still gives me chills and goosebumps. Before the Storm is a fantastically written and paced story. Deck Nine did a great job.
"Who's Steph?" It's kind of hilarious rewatching this LP after watching the True Colours playthrough, and hearing that line. Well, let's just say she managed to make quite an impression!
Finally! a Let's play of Life is Strange that actually cares about the characters AND isn't in a hurry to get the dialog over with. Really, really enjoyed watching this, especially because you're both shippers and pay attention to detail and remember the connections from the previous game. New subscriber here
If you relish LPs that take the time to delve into the social issues brought up by the games and the personalities of the characters, I can't recommend the Geekremix and Miscatsquad playthroughs of LiS and BtS enough.
I know right. And It makes me so upset when people say this game isnt good. In my opinion its one of the best LIS games. We get such a deeper look into chloes character and get to relate with her so much more. People who hate chloe really just lack so much empathy. The way chloe handles the grief of losing her dad is such a accurate representation of what its like to lose a parent at such a young age. Her character is just so well written in my opinion. I can relate to her so much and i grew to be very attached to her character. People say this game was unnecessary but i think it was very necessary. It shows us why chloe is the way that she is and we get to see more about how her and rachels relationship was and why she was so hurt about it in the first game.
I totally get why Aoife is on the Amberprice ship, but I was totally surprised how Johnny was so into it. His enthusiasm and "just kiss" exclamations really tickled me. . . . . Also, THAT DINING CAR JOKE!!!
I swear I keep coming back to this video because their reactions crack me up! But 2:23:18 is even more heartbreaking if you choose "friendship"... the way Chloe says "please, I don't want to be alone anymore" 😭😭😭
I have seen so many people playing LIS Before the storm, this one is clearly one of my most favourite. I loved the way how you guys valued the emotions and took your time and didn't rush it :) cheers. Great video
I enjoyed the hell out of this video, so please play through all three chapters! I'll happily watch you guys laugh, cry, and desperately encourage Chloe and Rachel to kiss.
i know that im so late to this play through but i just have to say that it is SO refreshing to watch a playthrough of this game where the commentator(s) actually remembers the details of the first game, is invested in the characters and story, and isn't trying to rush through it while shitting on it the whole time. got so sick of watching popular youtubers play it just because they wanted views and people told them to, only for them to call it boring. this game isnt meant to be an action packed plot heavy exciting game about superpowers and conspiracy, its just about seeing the characters we love again. sorry for the rant i just suddenly found this play through and i didnt realise how nice it is to see a youtuber aCtually enjoy what they're playing lol
EXACTLY. This game is meant for you to really feel and have good and bad emotions! Thats why I really enjoy before the storm especially. It gives us so much more depth into chloes character and why she is the way she is. It made me sympathize with her in the first game because I really know now what she went through before max came back. I can really relate to chloe especially as someone who lost a parent at such a young age. The way chloe acts in the first game is really accurate to how a lot of people act when they have emotional trauma. Chloes way of blaming people and lashing out is like a coping mechanism to a lot of people who are struggling. This game also made me realize how much of an asshole max is. Makes sense when she went back in time to William being alive she was a mean girl. Shows who she really is.
Can i just say im so glad i found this channel while looking for playthroughs of this.. we definitely need more lgbtqa lets players so this made me rly happy.. this was so enjoyable to watch since you guys were as into the story and the romance as i was as opposed to the many others ive seen. I really hope you guys will also upload for episode 2 and 3.. (also aoife is rly cute so what more could i ask)
I've literally just spent an entire evening watching let's plays of this, but coming back to this one, and it's easily the best. I love how you guys are so into it together! Constantly saying "just kiss" and I was right there with Johnny, exactly the same reaction as you guys when it hits. Gonna be looking for your video for episode 2 as soon as I've finished it
The morning song after the Old Mill wasn´t from Daughter. Although they made a bunch of songs specifically for LiS that one was No Below from Speedy Ortiz. Also a really good band. Not trying to be rude or anything, just wanted to point it out because I love both the bands.
$5.00: "Next stop, the train to Fucktown!" EDIT: "The DINING CAR on the way to Fucktown!" Oh, Johnny, you slay me. :D Edit the Second: Love booty! Plunder secret treasures! *YASSSSSSSSS* ;)
If you sabotage Victoria's homew ork you say "Oh yeah I think the answer is Fluorine Uranium carbon potassium Uranium It's my favourite joke of all time
I streamed this on Thursday it was a pretty fun enjoyable game that hit me in the feels once or twice,i wasn't sure if it would of been as good a the first game without the time power but you don't miss it and the new backtalk feature is pretty cool when Chloe gives some pretty sissy come backs :) I thought i wasn't going to like the new voice actor for Chloe but i was wrong she did a great job, really looking forward to episode 2 :)
This playthrough is such a comfort watch for me, and somehow I always forget about Johnny's spot-on perfect "Alyssa voice" until I'm laughing my ass off at it 😂
I cried too Johnny. This was incredible! Now I have to play the original. I was skeptical at first, because Chloe seemed like such a cliche of teens trying to hard, but as it went on all these layers emerged, and I realized she was dealing with the loss of her father and her mom's JERK boyfriend, and she became a complex character in a compelling story. Also, I totally ship Chloe/Rachel. (just kiss!!)
So after Bloodborne and Dark Souls, this is the 3rd lets play that I watch from you guys, and it's really different and is just the right tone for this game. Thanks a million for sharing the journey! :)
+TheTrueHasenfeffer let me get this straight, you would actively, consciously commit genocide, i.e. indiscriminately kill hundreds, if not thousands of innocent people, as opposed to do nothing, let history run it's course, and let your loved one die? As I said, it's not selfishness, it's psycopathy.
I've been rewatching parts of this video all day. Then I watched dad simulator ones. Never thought I would be watching letsplays. You guys remind me of the old destructoid/rev3games shows. (BTS ep. 2 and 3 and Bone that daddy Mat are mandatory now)
You'll notice, that in the smashing scene, Chloe says "fuck David", "fuck off Rachel", and when it comes to Max she cuts herself off and says "fuck cameras" instead.
I'm 'Late to the Party', but I've always played elves in D&D and at least two of them were barbarians. The racial attributes don't line up at first glance, but the increased agility and such actually balances out a lot of the downsides to being a barbarian. It's one of my favorite classes to roleplay because no expects an elf barbarian. ^_^
I loved this, watched it after finishing the game last night. It really moved me, I was a wreck during the junkyard scene too Johnny! I hope you'll play the other episodes as well when they're out. Thanks Aoife & Johnny!
Ik this is random, but I have to say I appreciate the good quality audio of the gameplay and you guys' voices. My laptop's audio has become shitty over the years which makes it difficult to hear some RU-vid videos, mostly gameplays (my headphone jack doesn't work anymore either). Just gotta say I appreciate it.
i know im late to the party but there is no other LIS playthrough i'd rather watch than yours and also i enjoy seeing Johnny's arms progressively getting more and more inked
Pleeeease, please continue this Let's Play with the other two episodes (and the bonus episode)!! I played through this episode two days ago and just couldn't stop thinking about it and then I found this video today and it was just perfect! I don't think I've ever enjoyed a Let's Play or any kind of youtube video soo much as I enjoyed this one. Please continue! But when you do, pls don't skip so much of the game. There were so many great things to experience in this game that you guys just left aside, especially on the school yard (Skips band demo, encounter with principle Wells, ...).
this is definitely the best let's play of this game I watched so far, you gained a new subscriber :) I look forward to see you two play the rest of the episodes!
Omg. I wasn’t able to play this back then. So I played true colors before coming to watch this. And omg seeing Steph texting Chloe has got to be the most surprising thing ever.
Never thought I'd watch a 3hr let's play, but this was awesome! Guess it's that the story was so compelling. Havent experiences anything of the original game, so perhaps a bit of a spoiler, but don't really care. The D&D section was great!
the Dark Room wasn't a sex dungeon...that is what makes Mark Jefferson far more interesting than most villains in LIS. he wasn't a pervert or interested in girls for sex reasons. he was obsessed with photographing them, trying to capture them at the height of their beauty and innocence. it was disturbing, weird and fu£$ed up yes...but his obsession had nothing to do with sex.
One thing about the game that kinda takes away a little from its greatness (and I do think it's a great one) is the false friendship/romance dichotomy. You actually should choose the romantic path if you want to enjoy the story to the fullest with the best dialogue and most endearing interaction. Going the friendship path you don't get anything in return: a lot of stuff gets deleted, but you don't get much instead. So to me it's just the illusion of a choice, a bit unfair to some players.
new subscriber thanks to this video. I still dream about a LiS sequel. Loved Chloe soooooooo much in the first so you can say which ending I chose, I wonder how are they going to pull it off and keep your decisions.
